Me too. Laurinaitis is very popular in Ohio and many feature articles have been written about him and his Road Warrior Dad "Animal" in area newspapers. His coverage skills as a linebacker is second to no one else in college football and his diving through the air tackles are scintillating.

Partial senior stats: After five games, Schwartz reports 851 yards passing (63%) for nine touchdowns and three interceptions. Rushed 500 yards for six touchdowns, with one touchdown coming from a kickoff return for 91 yards. Dana Hills (4-2) will play at Trabuca Hills (Mission Viejo) on Oct. 21.


Schwartz reports a 2.7 GPA/20 ACT.

Buckeye Bits: An all-purpose standout in high school ... also lined up at running back or quarterback on offense.


High School: Had 15 tackles and an interception and returned a kickoff for a touchdown as a senior ... rushed for 655 yards and seven touchdowns on 70 carries and completed 99-of-145 passes for 1,219 yards with 10 touchdowns ... set 15 school records ... passed for 1,917 yards and 11 TDs as a junior and added 486 yards rushing and nine TDs on 99 carries.

Do any of you older guys remember his father at OSU becuase until Grant came to Ohio St. I never heard of his old man. Also Grant had an excellent spring game and a INT with a nice return.

Laurinaitis is an awesome linebacker. He will have a great NFL career if he stays healthy, and he definitely has a WWE contract waiting for him if he wants to wrestle, so he will be successful regardless.

<DIV =srcline>There's always a buzz around Ohio State receiver Brian Hartline, as if his protons and electrons move at a more frantic pace than ours.





He plays like a human pinball, flinging himself around the field with little regard for the safety of himself or others.


"He's a high-energy, high-motor guy," receivers coach Darrell Hazell said. "Everything he does is at a fast pace, and you love that about him."


Sort of.


Hartline's reckless style was a hoot last season. Fans, teammates and coaches enjoyed watching him crash downfield on kickoff coverage or lay crushing blocks -- the most memorable being one that took out two Iowa defenders and sprung Anthony Gonzalez for a touchdown.


But this season, with the departure of Gonzalez and Ted Ginn Jr. to the NFL, Hartline has moved up the depth chart. He and Brian Robiskie are starters.


The prospect of losing Hartline to an injury suddenly is more sobering. He might have to dial back his kamikaze style.


Asked about that, Hartline seemed a bit sad. He's like a kid leaving behind his carefree past.


"Yeah, to a point, I guess," he said. "Probably, I've got to calm down, try not to have injuries and things like that. I'll be more under control."


His coaches are helping in that regard, having taken him off the kickoff-coverage team.


Special-teams plays have led to some of Hartline's best and worst moments. He earned the Jack Tatum hit of the week award last year by smearing kickoff returner Marcus Thigpen of Indiana.


He also suffered a broken leg while returning a punt in 2004 as a senior at Canton GlenOak.


"Some things you've got to gear him down and slow him down and have him see things a little bit differently," Hazell said. "But it's better to have him that way (too excited) than the other way, because that's a lot easier to coach."


Hartline said he first sensed his role might change in a team meeting before spring practice. Coach Jim Tressel arranges the seating so that upperclassmen sit up front and younger players in the back.


"It caught us off-guard, sitting closer and closer to the front of the room," said Hartline, a redshirt sophomore. "The seniors are all gone and everyone moves up. It was pretty sudden."


Last season, Hartline mostly worked from the slot position. He excelled at stretching the deep middle of the field, and he found himself open often as teams concentrated on Ginn and Gonzalez.


He drew the admiration of former Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith for his willingness to leap or dive for passes.


"Hartline is tough," Smith said. "I don't think he gets enough credit sometimes for the things that he does, because he will dip his shoulder (going for the extra yard) and he'll do some things that a receiver is not supposed to do."


There are those limitations again -- things a receiver is not supposed to do? Hartline can't let that thought go by unchallenged.


"Maybe I shouldn't take certain hits," he said. "But then, coaches appreciate getting every yard you can, and I hope I can take it. I find myself sometimes going high for balls or going low in contact -- playing in traffic, I guess. That's part of being a receiver that people forget."


You can take him off special teams, but you can't take the mentality away.


"Whatever it takes, I'm going to get the job done," he said, smiling. "And I do have fun. That's what it's all about, right?"

Is this the same Brian Hartline who "lacks breakaway speed", even though he was the Ohio high school state champion in 110m. and 300m. hurdles (See Ohio State wide receivers in Media Racism and Stereotyping)? I hope that he can be upgraded to having "deceptive speed" this season.

Darrell Hazel is black meaning he's a not a self loathing white position coach who craves young black talent and despises any white player that isn't on the lines. I've said it before and I'll say it again I really think black coaches will give more credit to a white guy(also from personal experience). Oh yeah h.s.coach yes that is the same Hartline who was an Ohio 110m and 300m hurdle champ who has that "deceptive speed".

It was just reported that black backup QB 2nd year freshman Antonio Henton (who's already been dubbed the next Troy Smith) was arrested for soliciting a prostitute who turned out to be a cop. Allegedly the offer was $20. He's been suspended from the team indefinitely.

On a different note, I noticed Dane Sanzenbacher did not get in the game at all on Saturday. Injury maybe? Anyway, here's the article from the school newspaper:

Kirk Herbstreit actually called Penn State linebacker Sean Lee "very athletic" during last night's PSU-OSU game and noted that Ohio State WR Brian Hartline "has tremendous speed." I don't think I've ever heard the ubiquitous Herbstreit ever say anything like that about white athletes as he speaks Caste-ese so reliably. Must be another sign of incremental progress.

When Hartline is dropping 95 yard punt returns for TD's on people it's hard for a guy like Herbstreit to continue to deny their athleticism.

We would all like to see that Reb. Hopefully in a BCS Championship matchup against Boston College. The larger the audience, the better for us at Caste Football and our cause. I hope both schools finish undefeated and undefeated Kansas with their white tailback is a great story too.
