I'm sorry, but you too areconfusingthe issue. We weren't discussing their pro potential. We were discussing their success in college.. that's it. Jim Tressel's a college coach, not a pro coach. His primaryobjective is to put W's on the board, deliver his team to aBCS bowl game, and secure a $17 million payday for his school..not prepare Terrelle Pryor for the pros. Frank Beamer's job was to put W's on the board, not prepare Michael Vick for the pros. Like I said about the Cornhuskers earlier, opposing defenses had nothing for Frazier, Frost, and Couch. I assume you're gonna tell me they were worthless collegiate players simple because they had zero pro success?

We were also discussing the spread option scheme. Armanti Edwards came up here to Michigan with Appalachian State, and lit the Wolverine defenseup for 34 points. He led his school to their 3rd consecutive 1-AA championship. He'll never be a pro prospect, but that's not why he laced them up for his coach. It was to win games.Dennis Dixon came up the next week and shredded Michiganlike wheat. His prospective pro ranking is meaningless as well.

Also, your guarantee reminds me how everyone guaranteedIllinois would lose to Ohio State. How did that turn out?Juice Williams is a mediocre QB, yet the Buckeyes couldn't shut down his ground game.

The spread option, and the athletic QB at the helm is here to stay.

To my knowledge their has been only 1 starting quarterback to win the superbowl and at the time little known Tim Smith ran for a superbowl record 206 yards to help single handidly carry the Washington offense on that day. So you Capogne are the one mistaken Pryor will be a bust he will be like all the other supposedly can't miss college black quarterback prospects, and ultimately fail in the end. Then he will get arrested thinking his fame will get the charges dropped. Along the way he will plant his seed in many sista's hoping to cash in on his fortune and fame. After he is deemed a bust and the money runs out then is when the real fun starts with all of the law suits to determine paternity of some of his illegitimate children and appearences on Jerry springer you get the picture. So you see Caponge we have all heard this before a black man cannot restrain himself from the Gansta life style or the chance not to become a Player which clearly Pryor will do both to the extreme. So in the end Caponge your argument is like you meaningless and mundane swallow hard my freind some times the truth is hard to gulp down.

What are you guys talking about? All he said is that Pryor stands a very good chance of being a successful college QB, which he does. Did you guys even watch college football this past season? WVU, Oregon, USF, Illinois, Florida? Remember Texas-USC BCS game? We all know what happens to the Vicks and Vince Youngs in the NFL, that's pretty clear. That has nothing to do with how well the spread option and running QB's work in the college game (clearly it works very well).

Ohio State's success with Pryor will depend upon how much they will be willing to go for the full-on "RichRod" offense. Pryor is incapable of running anything else. If Tressel doesn't fully commit to the Spread Option formula, they will falter. It's a system that can be successful, since the rest of the country (and certainly the Big 10) hasn't adapated to defending it yet. It's still just a gimmick, though. Gimmicks can work as long as they are rare and you have the perfect personnel to run them. I think Tressel will be reluctant to completely abandon his own playbook and tendencies and will try to 'half ass' a spread option implementation. Fortunately for him, he has been a phenomenal recruiter and he has tons of talent at every position that can overcome a poor offensive system. In my opinion, OSU will slide back from their previous two seasons and Wisconsin will win the Big 10 handily.

Your point is you lost to me you moron. What did Michael Vick ever win besides a dog fighting wager,

Haha, getting a little emotional, no?  Michael VIck was one of the greatest college football players of all time.  He was 20-1 as a starter.  That lone loss was in the 1999 National Championship game against Florida State after an his 11-0 freshman season.  He led the nation in passing efficiency, and won numerous awards for his play including Big East Freshman and Player of the year, the Archie Griffin MVP, a Heisman invite, and the Gator Bowl victor's trophy and game MVP.

You must be confused.

Do you kiss your Michael Vick sports cards before you go to bed?

If so, do you "do it" with the protective plastic on or off? Wouldn't want to catch any of Vick's STD's, lol.....

Time to put him out of his misery.

If Michael Vick accomplished all that as a collegiate quarterback, he was a very good one. What's the problem? Think about it, what would be your reply if someone posted that Billy Cannon and John Cappelletti were mediocre, or worse, collegiate running backs? Would you cite their stats and awards or just call the poster nasty names? I'd hope it's the former and not the latter.

This particular troll has been here previously under different user names. If we want to post about how great Mike Vick was in college -- and even the NFL -- I'm sure he'd quickly become a gung-ho CF supporter.

I am tired of the love fest that goes on about the black being the super athlete, and able to become ther new breed of quarterback. I have been watching college and pro football for many years over the years the love fest for the brother has grown by leaps and bounds why is this. Clearly their are some that truly beleive this bunk and have tried to instill this foolish notion in all the stupid white fans that follow football at any level. I was once at at jr pee wee leauge football sign up and the kids were seperated in two groups black and white hence fast or slow. Now I clearly knew some of the white kids were more athletic meaning faster than the black kids but who got to carry the football and run with you guests it the blacks. The leauge really did not even have tryouts I mean what can be worse than this crap. Now getting back to why I joined this site their are many many players who are screwed by the system that automatically believes thier inferior because of their skin color nothing more. It seems like the white fans beleive if a white player lines up at running back or wide receiver their some how embarassed I have seen it my self at the high school level. So if I seem upset about Terrelle the bust Pryor garnering so much attention about his college choice and teams falling over him like he is the messiah it is because he has done nothing to wartant all this attention except be a black quarterback with mobilty nothing more or less. The media however have made him a can't miss prospect why because they want us to beleive the negroe is superior to the white in athletics this clearly is not true. I beleive Pryor won't be able to live up to the hype few players survive under the microscope especially ones that have problems controlling their tempers. I ask this question if Terrelle Pryor was white would the media care as much about his choice I think the answer is obvious NO. Now their are many white athletes that are testing phenominally in combine workouts some much better than their black counterparts yet the blacks are still rated higher again why is this. People questioning on this site I brought up the name Michael Vick when talking about terrelle pryor I think thats obvious as well. The media tried to make Vick the second coming as well, but in reality he was a bust as an NFL quarterback. He does not stay in the pocket and can't read defenses so unless he runs he pretty much a liabilty for his team. I beleive Pryor will be a liabilty for the Buckeyes. Now I had to get this off of my chest I hope Woodhead, Beavers Hillis, and Hester are all drafted high and allowed to play running back, but I know better if they were all black their would be no question about what postion they would play. I will fight this injustice to my last dieing breath. I hate the liberal media and the black athlete for not trying to dispel these myths they know to be false. That is why I willl continue to contribute to this site till this injustice is resolved. Now let us not forget all those white athletes who were told no you can't play at this level or this postion because you are white. My fight is for them and the millions of kids who are labeled at the jr pee wee leauge what postion they will play. My fight is for all kids to be able to play whatever the postion they want as long as they play the postion well case closed.   ;  Edited by: White Power

To White Power:

I believe much the same as you do, otherwise i would not visit this site so often. I truly am a high school coach (although of track and field, not football) and there is plenty of stereotyping going on at the high school level. And, to read that it's going on at the peewee level is really distressing.

I don't know whether to be outraged or just laugh sometimes when i see, for example, a black assigned to the 4 x 100 relay team, when i know FOR SURE that he/she is not one of the 4 fastest runners, and, in some cases is actually relatively slow. Of course, it's because, in some people's (small) minds, all blacks are just faster than all whites, so no need to do something like run time trials or have races to determine who's fastest. Of course, from my perspective, it just makes it easy to defeat them. But, i also feel bad for the whites who are being denied there rightful place. I also feel very, very bad for the potential white athletes who don't even try. In many schools white sprinter or jumper, white basketball player, white footballplayer (other than the occasional lineman) is an oxymoron.

So, i totally agree that there are white athletes being discriminated against. And, for whatever strange reason, there are those who want blacks to dominate the quarterback position. I don't see why and don't think it will happen, unless it is done in an "affirmitive action" way that just plain disregards merit and awards the position to blacks. My own personal opinion is that there are too few blacks who can handle the intellectual demands of playing quarterback, demands which are considerable.

That said, it seems that Michael Vick was a very good collegiate quarterback (for Virginia Tech), but a poor professional quarterback, despite the extraordinary efforts to make him to be otherwise. And, thus far, the same for Vince Young. And, Ohio State had a very good black quarterback who will probably not be a good pro quarterback.

Keep up the good fight and i, too, hope that those white running backs are outstanding starters on NFL teams.
