’Skins sign Erasmus James

The Redskins sent a conditional seventh-round draft pick to the Vikings to pick up oft-injured, former first round DE Erasmus James. James has suffered several serious knee injuries since 2005, and was placed on waivers by Minnesota after failing a physical.

Well maybe because they're the Skins, the cellar dwellers of the NFC East. This is a team that cut Jesse Lumsden after all when they only had one good RB, Clinton Portis, on their roster. Mike Sellers is decent, but ain't nothin special!

Being a highly touted black athlete means always being thought of as a potential star, or a star reborn. It wouldn't surprise me if NFL teams are stillvying to sign"The Freak" (Jerome Kearse) as a free agent five years from now even though he was washed up five seasons ago.


Maybe now Washington will re-sign LaVar Arrington to team with James, or better yet some retread safety to replace the overachieving Reed Doughty.

Seems to me that more and more blacks can't keep it going over extended periods of time. Take Kearse for instance. For awhile he was a "freak." It seemed like nobody could handle him. However, his window was open and shut real quick. The same goes for most of them now. It's a here today gone tomorrow thing with them. No concentration and no ability to adjust to changing situations. With most of them now, the most you can expect out of them is two really good years and maybe three on the outside.

Very interesting to watch. At some point, the league is going to have to take action before it becomes so obvious that blacks aren't cutting it anymore that even the drunkest White fans begin to notice.

Tom, I couldn't agree more. The toughness, endurance and stamina of blacks was always an issue back before the Cultural Marxist Revolution began in earnest in the late '60s and blacks were transformed by the system into supposed athletic giants.


Blackstend to decline earlier than whites, and that tendency is more pronounced now because in the NFL there hasn't beengenuine competition in decades. Three-fourths of the starting positions -- and 100% or close to it at many positions -- are permanently set aside for blacks. That's not competition, it's affirmative action, and with the same results often seen in the public and private spheres. Additionally, coaches are much less demanding than they used to bedue tothe high salaries paid to players and given that most blacks won't tolerate white men getting after them.Edited by: Don Wassall

A league source tells PFT that the Baltimore Ravens have worked out free agent wide receiver Freddie Mitchell.


We first heard about the Mitchell workout when a reader tipped us off that Mitchell had mentioned it on his MySpace page.


Mitchell, the 2001 first-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles, played four years in Philly but hasn't suited up for a regular-season NFL game since the 2004 season. He caught 90 passes for 1,263 yards and five touchdowns in four seasons, and his best moment came when he caught a 28-yard pass on fourth-and-26 in the NFC Divisional Playoff in January of 2004.

It's kind of late in the game, but don't rule out the Skins showing some interest in WR Doug Gabriel who was cut by Oakland this week. Right now they really only have 4 WRs worth keeping, and that's not a bad way to go (no sense keeping a 5th just because), but Gabriel has some size has done some nice things and I heard that the Skins and Raiders spoke about a possible trade this summer before the Redskins ended up bringing in Pinkston and bunch of other longshots.

When Gabriel was with the Raiders it was noted in one newspaper article that he dropped over half the passes thrown to him in practice, and that he had a bad attitude. But hope springs eternal when it comes to black athletes. Don't ever give an incredibly talented and deserving guy like Mike Hass or Danny Farmer a shot; just keep recycling the Doug Gabriels and Freddie Mitchells over and over again.Edited by: Don Wassall

Wow, I really think Doug Gabriel is in his own league of suckyness. I'm not sure there has ever been an NFL WR with less talent (although there are thousands of runners-up). He's a slow, out-of-shape oaf with the worst hands in a decade. Not to mention his bad attitude, typical in many overrated black thugs.

The fact that absolute bums such as Gabriel are still on NFL rosters is proof positive of the pathically watered-down nature of the NFL today.

We'll see how many shots James gets, since 35 y.o. starting DE Phillip Daniels went down on the first snap of training camp when he hyperextended his knee. I wonder if its a ploy to skip camp. It'd be nice if Alex Buzzbee(sp?) can see the field if he makes the roster this season.
