    Non-white footballers you admire

@Frederic, yeah, Brazilian Ronaldo was probably the best player of his generation...Hulk is also quite unconventional when it comes to his approach to the game. It’s a pity that Ronaldinho’s peak was relatively short-lived. I think that some African players like George Weah are quite skillful...

    Non-white footballers you admire

I am in agreement that white soccer players are sometimes underrated - for instance, when it comes to aspects like physical strength and endurance. They should always be given their due and not discriminated against (and the same applies to members of all races). There could sometimes be a...

how teams do not detect white talent: FORLAN

Good point, it was a freak result in many respects! I think that Inter will be able to beat Trabzonspor in the away match and make up for the home loss. You were right, Gasparini didn't last long at the helm of Inter. Time will tell whether Ranieri will be an improvement (he was recently...

    UEFA Champions League 2011-2012

Thanks, glad to be of some use! :) Interesting, didn't know that about Debrecen, I am surprised that their goalkeeper (a Montenegro international) appears to have been involved. As for BATE, they can become flustered when they concede first...their forwards are not very clinical in front of...

how teams do not detect white talent: FORLAN

Forlan is an excellent player and has mesmerizing skills! He also tends to be influential in derby matches and is noted for his sportsmanship (I think that he has never been sent off). I am surprised that Inter are crumbling so fast, though...They lost (without Forlan) 0:1 at home to...

    UEFA Champions League 2011-2012

BATE are in a very tough group with Milan and Barcelona, so their chances of advancing to the next stage are indeed quite slim...However, they are solid/hard to break down (rarely concede goals) and should be able to hold their own against the big guns. As for the betting scandals - yeah, there...

    UEFA Champions League 2011-2012

FC BATE Borisov and FC Viktoria Plzeň are the ones to watch, as they are quite representative with regard to country demographics. 9 or 10 Belarusians usually start for the former (a Serb and two Brazilians are also under contract), while the latter regularly features 9 Czechs in its lineup (the...

Joys of Multikulti: Turkish super-lig team Sivasspor slaughters a sheep on pitch before friendly mat

Rebajlo - thanks so much for the welcome, looks like a fun community! :) It's good to see that certain footballers are not afraid to voice their displeasure over such practices (even when there could be the risk of offending "cultural sensibilities").

Joys of Multikulti: Turkish super-lig team Sivasspor slaughters a sheep on pitch before friendly mat

That's absolutely shocking and there should be some laws against it ....I remember that something similar happened during the 2008 African Nations Cup, with a cow being slaughtered on the pitch (the national team of Egypt was involved).

1/2 finals: Portugal vs. France Brazil vs. Mexico Some mesmerizing matches so far (I enjoy watching penalty shootouts), but shame that the hosts were eliminated. My prediction is that Portugal will face Mexico in the final. I always tend to pick the "dark horses".
