This show is on at 8pm ET tonight and repeats at 1am.

    Danny Woodhead

Who is afraid, the Patriot coaching staff? To use an old-time expression, Tom Brady is the Main Man in New England, not the running back by committee system the Patriots use.

    TRADE Toby Gerhart!

As I have indicated, I've followed pro football for some 50 years. It is common for a coach and QB to reach a point of no return. When it happens one of them has to go. Sometimes it will be both, as with Van Brocklin and Tarkenton with the Vikings in 1966. Adams used to fire his coaches very...

    Vince Young

Some of the DWFs still back Vince Young. One of them made a comment on a forum something like, "The ignorant redneck fans won't give Vince time to develop."

    NFL Network Tom Landry Special

I was watching the NFL Network's program on Bill Parcells. I could barely stay awake and quit after forty minutes. On Friday November 26 at 8pm ET, the NFL Network will show "Tom Landry: The NFL's Man In The Hat." It is supposed to be "the man behind the myth."

    2010 Auburn Tigers

The more evidence there is of wrongdoing regarding Newton, the more the Auburn DWFs love him.

    Peyton Hillis

Riggins was given plenty of chances, to say the least. He held himself back with holdouts, other times he was injured.

Are the fixers also arranging for Peyton Hillis to have several 100-yard games?

    Top 10 Uniforms

The NFL Network had a list of Top 10 Uniforms. 1. Chargers Powder Blue (changed in 1974, now wear it about twice a year) 2. All Throwbacks 3. Silver and Black 4. Cowboys Wear White 5. 49ers of the 80's 6. Pee Wee Uniforms 7. The Browns 8. Bengals Stripes 9. Creamsicle Bucs 10...

    Peyton Hillis

Campbell went 81 yards for a TD to put the Oilers ahead 35-23 with under two minutes to go. The Oilers held on to win 35-30. He had 199 yards for the night in 28 carries. As I keep saying, you can find these stats in pro football reference. More games from the late 70s are coming on youtube...

    Peyton Hillis

The live broadcast of the 1978 Rams-Oilers game is now on youtube. The play were Earl Campbell flattened Isiah Robertson is in Part 11. You see a lot of white players on both sides in this game. For a good part of the game, Rob Carpenter was lining up alongside Campbell.

    White RBs and 100-yard games

Jim Taylor gained 186 yards in 27 carries against the Giants on December 3, 1961. Billy Cannon went 25-216 against the New York Titans in an AFL game a week later. The Giants were one of the best defensive teams, the Titans very weak. All you have to do is go to Pro Football Reference and run...

    2010 Week 9

You've got to love these ex-player "analysts." Simms uses the 1940s as a frame of reference for a white RB and Collinsworth uses 1912.

    2010 Week 9

Collinsworth hasn't heard of Hornung and Taylor?

    2010 Week 9

The 1940s? An oddball comment to be sure. The harder someone like Simms tries to look clever, the more stupid they look.Edited by: sport historian

    2010 Week 9

Favre keeps being written off and keeps coming back. Reporters were asking him when he was going to retire 8-9 years ago.

    2010 Week 9

Neither Podolak (85) or Csonka (86) had 100 yards rushing in that game. Podolak had 110 receiving and 154 on kickoff returns. You can find statistics like this in a few minutes at pro football reference.

    2010 Week 9

Go to pro football reference. Pick out some names who might apply. As far as both teams having a RB go over 100 yards in a game, it is somewhat rare. When a RB goes over 100, it usually means his team is winning and the other team has to pass to catch up.

    2010 Week 9

I consider a white RB gaining 200 yards in a game important.

    2010 Week 9

Off the top of my head, the last white running backs to gain 200 yards in a game were John David Crow in 1960 for the St. Louis Cardinals and Billy Cannon for the Houston Oilers in 1961.

    The Tillman Story

It will be on DVD pretty soon. The army lied initially, but admitted that Tillman was accidentally killed by members of his platoon about a month later. The platoon had been split into two groups, with Tillman's group in front. The second group came under fire, and Tillman, accompanied by a...

    NFL Network Top 100 Players

Joe Perry and Franco Harris didn't make the list either. Perry was the all-time pro football rushing leader for several years before Brown passed him. Harris was a Super Bowl MVP and played on 4 championship teams.

    NFL Network Top 100 Players

The first half and some of the third quarter of this game is now on youtube. I saw it a few days ago for the first time in 31 years. Krause was standing with 2 teammates who stood back and let him catch it. I didn't see any Rams nearby. The play, and the breaking of the record, was completely...
