    the next Wariner? Pick one

Oh, and as for Neil Braddy, the Arkansas freshman, here's a quote on yesterday's meet: "I also want to mention the 4x4. This was something we lacked last year and Coach Case has done a good job of bringing life back into that event for us. We had a freshman anchor in Neill Braddy and he...

Also, props to tiny Aisling Cuffe (also on the list, I believe) for winning the US Cross Country junior champs yesterday.

I'm glad WL posted the article about the Norway, Sweden, Finland three-way match, as I probably never would have found Johan Rogestedt's incredible result any other way. I doubt many people remember, but a couple of years ago, aged 16, Rogestedt blew past the Kenyans to win the world youth...

    the next Wariner? Pick one

Brady Gehret won the 200 and finished second in the 400 at a meet with quite a number of schools. His 200 time was not his best, but he had to run it after the 400, which is one heck of a tough double for an afternoon.

Sebastian Ernst looking gooood in the 200! 20.75. An outstanding early season time.

    2011 Indoor Track Meets Live

White Lightning, is there any way to watch the New Balance Boston event tonight? The replay will be on ESPN tomorrow, but I'd love to see Webb and Verzbicas live. Meanwhile, let's hope for an exciting 800m at Sparkassen.

    2011 Indoor Track Meets Live

The official results are posted. LeMaitre had the best response time of anyone in the finals. Unfortunately, he was the slowest runner by far. Didn't look like him at all. The time was 6.67 for him in both heats. Pickering 6.66, but he caught LeMaitre from behind (like everyone else)...

    2011 Indoor Track Meets Live

Ugh. Not a good start to the season. LeMaitre blown out, fell further behind with every step. Barely managed not to finish last. He had nothing. Initial impression: those of who hoped that he would develop some strength over the offseason will be disappointed. On the glass half-full side, it...

    2011 Indoor Track Meets Live

Andy Turner finished second in an incredibly stacked 60m hurdles field. Of course, he wasn't even close to the massively, massively roided David Oliver. In the 60 m prelims, it's hard to say if Christophe was holding back. He finished an unimpressive third at 6.67, but he's got the finals in a...

    Lukas Verzbicas

I don't want to jinx him, but Lukas will be running against elite adult pros tonight at an indoor mile in Boston. He's hoping to join Alan Webb as only the second high schooler to ever run sub 4 indoors. And Alan will be in the race to pull him along. Keep your fingers crossed! <a...

Looking back at old posts, it seems this forum has been writing about David Klech since before the invention of the Internet. Here's one more: http://www.oregonlive.com/trackandfield/index.ssf/2011/02/oregon_track_field_senior_davi.html

    Hannah Cunliffe

Turns out Hannah ran the 60 in the big UW invitational last week. This invitational brought in the best track programs from the West, including mighty Oregon, but 14 yr old Hannah not only one her heat but finished third in the final (against the cream of the crop from 11 heats). I wonder if...

    the next Wariner? Pick one

In the meanwhile, we've got another freshman making a splash. Neill Braddy, who won the 100, 200, and 400 state champs in Arkansas last year (I believe he has his own forum topic) is a U of Arkansas freshman this year. He's been moved around a little. Hasn't done anything special in the 60 or...

    the next Wariner? Pick one

Hi, Jacknyc, Patrick Farmer has run in only one meet so far this season, even though UVA has competed in two, so he may be nursing an injury. Pretty pedestrian times in the first meet, so I'd say an injury is a pretty good guess. Like you, though, I'm anxious to see him get out there and show...

    2011 Indoor season

I just watched some on Flotrack. It seems the official results confused the members of the Oregon women's 4 by 400, but if you watch the race, you can still see what a special talent supergirl Laura Roesler is. She may not have run a great individual 800, but she was the entire team in the 4 by...

    2011 Indoor season

News from yesterday's collegiate meets: Cas Loxsom just keeps getting better and better. For those of you who don't remember him from the watch list, he's the Penn State sophomore showing so much talent in the 800. He ran a blazing 500 a couple of weeks ago. This week, he ran a low 1:47 indoors...

    2011 Indoor season

It's early in the season, but Andy Bayer, a sophomore at Indiana, just set the world leading time in the 3000. I wasn't familiar with Bayer, but it's a darned solid time, especially for a solo effort early in the season. http://www.idsnews.com/news/story.aspx?id=79363

That Ukrainian chick looks like she means business. Anyway, in more collegiate news, Canadian Kate Van Buskirk, who runs for Duke, just took half a second off the NCAA 1000m indoor record. She also smoked an exceptional leg on 4x800 that broke the school record by seven seconds, beating a time...
