Wariner is back and may threaten 43.19!

Wariner blistered a world leading 44.22 at the Continental Cup today. Kevin Borlee also pr'ed at 45.01. Given how late Wariner started his season this year and how dominant he has become of late, he could be back to threaten the world record next year.

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

For whoever asked, here's the link: http://www.iaaf.org/live/wcp10/ As for Zellgaddis, not sure why you're trying to shortchange LeMaitre (although 99% of your posts have been to defend Jamaicans), but virtually no one considers Rieti an especially fast track for sprinters. It is renowned only...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Bk--when I say he's going to face a fast field, I'm referring to the level of the competition. There were nearly 20 runners entered into the Rieti 100, all of them world class studs, so that they had to run heats just to qualify for the finals. So it was a strong performance by LeMaitre and a...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Here's the video of his second race (the 9.97). As usual, he is last out of the blocks (and with another dreadful reaction time) and, against this field, still last at 50m. Then he reels in half the field. The winner was, of course, a massive roided fellow...

Solinsky ran a personal best 7:34 in the 3000, but it wasn't good enough and the "American" Lagat (Kenyan who occasionally trains in the US and got citizenship here) ran 7:29 for an "American" record. The thing about Rieti is that it is either famous or notorious (depending on your point of...

Not a lot of runners at Rieti today other than LeMaitre smokin those two sub-10's. However, Nick Symmonds and Marcin Lewandowski both got dragged along to excellent times in the 800. Symmonds, 1:43.76, and Lewandowski, 1:44.10. Looking forward to the video, if anyone finds it.

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Nothing but steroids in the Jamaican water. But LeMaitre is running clean, and those are excellent times!! Not only did he break 10 twice in the same day, but he also beat Mike Rodgers twice in the same day. In his heat he also beat Mario Forsythe (Jamaica), Daniel Bailey, and Lerone Clark...

I may have left the once-great Alan Webb off the initial watch list, on account of his perpetual injuries, but yesterday he took a big step in his comeback, winning a soft 1500 and then running a 5000 just 15 minutes later. http://www.letsrun.com/2010/alan-webb0828.php

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

LeMaitre runs again today in Rieti. Let's hope he's gotten back to work and is ready for business again. It's a top field and if he's still out of form, he'll get slaughtered. I actually think he's mentally shut down for the season after the Euro's. The sooner he gets into the weight room and...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Apparently, LeMaitre stumbled at the start, banging his calf and ran a ragged race thereafter trying to catch up...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

LeMaitre finished second to Mike Rodgers. It was a slow race--10.20--but everyone ran a slow time, and it was a very high quality field. A bit of a headwind. I don't know if there were any other adverse conditions to explain the time.

    2010 Outdoor Track Season

Here's a high quality video of Wariner's easy world leading time yesterday: http://www.universalsports.com/video/assetid=f47b966e-2663-4fb5-9cd9-6ada05352462.html#wariner+runs+wl+zurich+400m Here's a short, edited version of Solinsky's brilliant run. Only about a minute of the 13 minute...

    2010 Outdoor Track Season

Zurich report: Two pieces of excellent news: 1) Jeremy Wariner ran an excellent time in the 400. I haven't seen it yet, but word is he was pulling up at the end or would have dipped into the 43s. 2) Chris Solinsky's awesome season continued. 12:56 in the 5000. Once again, he's just a hair's...

    2010 Outdoor Track Season

Wariner won the 400 today in London. Didn't look like the Wariner of old, but he's still too good for the rest of the field. On the downside, Gillick, K. Borlee, and Rooney all embarrassed themselves, finishing 5,6,7 with downright awful times. In the mile, young Ryan Gregson continued to show...

    Andrew Wheating

Yeah, Wheating really proved his mettle in Europe. In yesterday's race, he finally abandoned his old tactic of sticking to the back and kicking. In fact, he ran in second for much of the race. So he's learned his lesson about letting the east Africans get too big a lead. In fact, Wheating's move...

"Rocket" Ramil Guliyev 9.97 and 19.76 (World Champion 2017 over 200 meters)

Guliyev is attempting to soldier on and finish the season after his father's death, but he's not the same runner. He ran some mediocre times in Lucerne today. 10.24 in the 100 (wind 0.6 for you obsessive types). A badly beaten 20.82 in his chief event, the 200. Aaron Rouge-Serret, the fast...

There was a diamond league match in Stockholm. Two interesting results: 1) the 5000m, where Chris Solinsky ran the second fastest time ever by an American. That's the second time this year he broke below 13 minutes. He's so close to the US record, and is getting close to competitive to the top...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

I don't have the exact translation, but here's an article where the former coach of Pietro Mennea talks about how CL's form leaves "a lot to be desired" and that by making a few changes, he could run 9.78 next year. For fun, it also includes a video of Mennea...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

And according to this article, Christophe once again had the slowest reaction time in the field. Imagine if he could 1) stop being nervous about false-starting 2) start lifting enough that he could at least match the strength of a female sprinter (see earlier article) and 3) use that strength to...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

I just got back from vacation, so I've been spending the past hour reading posts and watching videos from the Euro championships. 2010 World Junior Championships

Supergirl (the fabulous Laura Roesler) ran the fastest of all four legs in the 4 by 400, and, according to the TFN message board, won the race for the US. Here are the splits on the legs: Dixon 54.4, Smith 52.3, Roesler 52.2, George 52.3. Note that, her time could have been even better, if she...
