Sanborn was on the Bears' roster from 2022 to 2024. During that span, his only white teammate on defense was
A.J. Klein, but
only for 2 games in 2022. So, he was the only white on defense for the Bears in '23 and '24. Also, was the only white on defense during his brief on-field Cowboys career in 2025 -- Logan Wilson wasn't traded for until Sanborn was placed on IR.
But, he might actually have a fellow white on defense this season:
The same day Jack signed, Chicago actually signed veteran DT
James Lynch, who most recently played for Tennessee.
Barring injury, Sanborn is pretty much assured a roster spot -- at least as a special teams mascot. Lynch certainly will
not be a sure thing. We'll know better when the details of his contract comes out, as the more money doled out; more likely a player will stick around.
Below is a pretty positive analysis of Lynch's game. Good point by the person in video -- I forgot how dominate James was at Baylor. However questioning Lynch's speed coming out of Baylor is odd. Not sure why the 40 yard dash time is so important for a 315 pound DT?
