Alec Pierce

There may soon be that rarity of rarities -- a bidding war for a White receiver if the Colts don't resign Alec Pierce. I hope Pierce understands his situation well enough to not quickly take a "hometown discount" and stay with the Colts, and if he doesn't stay in Indy is smart enough to look at the half dozen or so organizations he can really thrive with rather than just take the highest offer.

The Colts have the power to ruin just about every other NFL fan bases dreams sitting in the palm of their hands​

Hopefully Pierce ends up with a team that will let him make plays all over the field and not confine him to being mostly a deep route specialist. From a fantasy site:

The Colts are crazy for not appreciating what they have. A pro bowl caliber receiver with no off field behavior problems. In the old days teams would fight for role models like Pierce. I think Buffalo would be a great place for him to go as Josh Allen needs help getting
to the Super Bowl. This may just be a perfect fit if it were to happen.

I'd love to see him sign with the Bills!

Alvin Harper and the backup QB crushed the Packers in a 94 game. I think it was Garret, and the game was awful since he just threw the ball up and Harper would come down with it.

I've also seen reports that the Colts may franchise Pierce. But there's also speculation that they may franchise Daniel Jones and not Pierce. Staying with Indy may not be the worst outcome for Pierce as long as they also re-sign Jones. I've been a critic of Jones' lack of throwing deep to Pierce as much as he should have, but at the same time the Colts have stupidly greatly limited Pierce's route tree for all four of his seasons. Possibly a result of jealousy from Reggie Wayne, who has been the team's WR coach for all four of Pierce's NFL seasons. Pierce is the pre-eminent deep threat in the league; there's not one good reason why he shouldn't be a dominant superstar by now except that he hasn't been used to his potential, a racial apprenticeship of a different sort.

I’d like to see Alec get out of Indy, where he has been grossly underutilized. However, Tennessee would be a nightmare. Hopefully he has good advisors who steer him toward a team with an elite QB.

I agree with you gentlemen. Pierce needs to go to a team that will treat him as a #1 WR, but only if they have a QB with an elite arm for deep throws. That's why I'm on the fence with Jones in Indy. I'm also seeing reports of Pierce to Pittsburgh, who may bring back Rodgers. I love A-Rod but he's not the deep ball artist he used to be.

Glad to see this from Pierce. But now he has to pick the right organization to go to rather than just accepting the highest offer he gets.

Colts WR Alec Pierce said he has “earned the right to explore free agency.” Pierce said this after Kay Adams asked him how the likely return of Daniel Jones will affect Pierce’s thoughts heading into free agency. He added that this will give him the opportunity to “see what’s out there.” It doesn’t sound like the Colts are getting a hometown discount on Pierce after opting not to place a tag of any kind on him. With the transition tag placed on Jones, the Colts are currently $4.7 million over the cap. The Titans, Raiders, Commanders, and Jets all need help at receiver and have over $70 million in cap space to work with. All signs point to Pierce, coming off his first 1,000-yard season, finding a new home on the open market.
