2025 NFL Week 17

Well into the third quarter and doesn't appear McConkey has gotten a single target. And the offense has done nothing but sputter for the Chargers.

What is going on with the Chargers? Have they phased out McConkey already? Not a single pass thrown his way and we are in the third quarter already.

And this after he has been featured less with each passing week it seems.
I realize Houston has a good defense but the Chargers look like crap. Dropped passes, missed blocks, missed tackles, missed field goals. Not playing like an 11-4 team. They need a win to go to the playoffs. Need a sense of urgency. Their offensive line looks like crap. Herbert is getting no time to throw.

This year especially it seems par for the course that our guys are rarely targeted no matter how talented. McConkey should be targeted like Wes Welker was in the Patriots offense. What happened to the copy cat league? Meanwhile, dynamic speedsters like Alec Pierce and Isaac Teslaa can be on the field all day and get less than a handful of targets nearly every single game but still make huge plays. Even legends like Cooper Kupp look like they are being hurried into retirement by non-use. This season has especially be frustrating for our receivers as they continue to be written out of the script.

Herbert making it happen!

Finally Chargers with a TD. Herbert made two outstanding plays on that drive.

The Chargers never surrounded Philip Rivers with anything near championship level talent, and the same is happening with Herbert. He's incredibly talented, perhaps the most all-around gifted QB in the league, but as always the Chargers have a sumo-laden line that can't protect Herbert, decent but not great talent at WR and TE (and McConkey has indeed been way underused this season), and a few good defensive players mixed in with a lot of mediocrity.

Yes, lots of room for improvement from a personnel perspective. They need to draft some short-armed offensive linemen this year to protect Justin.

McConkey 31 yard catch! Finally!!

And then he draws the illegal contact penalty.
Now imagine if they had consistently targeted him throughout the game and season?

I blame Herbert as much as anyone. As QB he needs to make the right decision… and that invariably means Ladd should receive 8-10 targets a game, every game.

Well at least the Chargers have already secured a playoff spot. They are already a wildcard. Want to see them win this game though.

Edit: Or maybe they haven't secured a wildcard yet.

Not targeting McConkey until the final scoring drive means the Chargers deserved that L. Another receiver that was underused was Adam Thielen. He was a 1,000 yard receiver with a terrible offense in Carolina. He finally goes back to Minnesota where he is a loved hometown hero and barely saw the field. Smartly he asked to be released and wound up as a Steeler. Hopefully we will see him get more targets and develop a rapport with Rodgers especially with DK now sitting because he's an idiot.

What? Nobody is tuned in to Peacock to watch the amazing battle between Malik Willis and Tyler Huntley? I thought for sure that Leonardfan would be all over this one!:p

Henry with over 200 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns. As I have little better to do this evening, I’ve caught the game off and on and what is abundantly clear is this: the Ravens’ offensive line is full of road-graders who dominate the line of scrimmage. Pat Ricard is an immense part of the scheme and seems to be on the field for nearly every play - other teams should follow suit. The Packers are a shell of a team from even a few years ago. They are laughably bad.

All this means an all-time talent like Henry will run wild and he has.

Blackers Defense looked horrible. 300+rush yards allowed, ouch.

I do agree Van Ness is finally coming along. 6 tackles, 4 of them solo.

I had to listen to the radio broadcast as much as I could stand. Is there any talk of replacing Wayne and Rock, because they have slipped quite noticeably?

With Mack Hollins on IR and Kayshon Boutte ruled out and Demario Douglas completely ineffective, Patriots will have Stefon Diggs, Kyle Williams and then Efton chism hopefully with some meaningful snaps on offense today.

Also Spillane at LB is out so expect our man Gibbens to start and be green dot with Chad Muma expecting some snaps I would think and also Ben Brown will start at LG for the injured Jared Wilson.

Patriots need to win to stay on track for no 1 seed. Expect some big plays from Henry at TE today.

I've always liked Chad Muma and felt he never received anything close to a fair opportunity in Jacksonville. Maybe he'll thrive in New England, much like Mike Vrabel did with the Patriots once he got away from an organization (Steelers) that always considered and used him as a backup.

Agreed, Muma is a talented linebacker.

A shame Kittle is out, but this could mean more passes for McCaffrey which could help him close the gap to achieve an unprecedented second 1000-1000 season.

Taysom Hill was pretty much the Saints' featured RB last week along with playing WR, TE and QB, while playing only around 40% of the offensive snaps. Alvin Kamara and his backup are both out again so hopefully Hill will have another big game (for him that is, still was underused last week compared to his talent).

Blackers should be able to move Willis for some key pieces in the off season.
I would hope so because after reading the Packer's game PDF he targeted a White TE exactly once that I could tell. This is reminding me of shades of Brent Huntley in 2017 leaving J. Nelson out to hang and ending Jordy's GB career. The drop in JN's production is even noted in the Wiki entry for him. I'm sure the drunken gimp fans will be sad if he does go though.

He will be a free agent so he will get to fool a team himself into a big retarded contract and the Packers won’t receive any compensation which is a silver lining.
