I was looking at the few races left before the World Championships in mid September. It looks like Lachlan Kennedy won't have any races before then unless something changes. I hope this is wrong as he could use a tuneup race as he has been out with injuries for several
months now. Not good for him to be rusty going into his first World Champs. Just hope he is healthy and can make us proud!

That's a very impressive performance out of lane 2 with an empty lane 3. Hard to judge where your at in a race from that lane plus we all know the inside lanes and outside lanes are almost always way slower times. Great to see. Too bad he will be 28 next month. Love his desire though and he just may have 3 to 4 more good years to go!

Crazy when you look at the end of that race how the difference between the winning 9.97 and Jones 10.04 is almost nothing. Basically like a quarter of a step if that.

I wasn't able to read the article without subscribing, but I'm guessing this very recent, like within the week?? Could have an impact on his performance at worlds.

We are all dissapointed about Lachlan Kennedy not being able to go for a medal at the World Champs. I have one positive to take
from this story. Rohan Browning has been the face of Aussie Sprinting for around 8 years now. Let's be happy that he can get the
spotlight all to himself like at the Olympics. This has to be huge for him! Kennedy is only 21 so he will have plenty of time. This would
be the perfect time for Rohan Browning to finally go sub 10 a few times. Maybe he somehow makes the finals? That would be epic. So
I'm sad for Lachlan Kennedy but very happy for Rohan to have one last chance to shine on the biggest stage! He deserves it!

Decathlete Simon Ehammer of Switzerland, won the Diamond League Long Jump Final in Zurich today.
His jump was an excellent 8.32 meters.
Tentoglou of Greece came in last of the 6 competitors. He seems to be off this season for some reason.

Not a shock as he won a world level medal in the individual event.
I recall Daley Thompson having the ability to win a medal in the same event but he never entered in long jump but I recall him jumping better in the individual event of the decathlon than the bronze medalist at the 84' Olympics.
Kennedy being scratched from the worlds is a bummer as he looks like the only White 100m competitor who had a realistic chance of making a final and could have been in the mix for a minor medal if things broke right for him.
Sutherland has real shot at a medal as SML is only doing the flat 400m dash at the worlds and minor medals look wide open. Hopefully she gets back to her NCAA final form...

I loved watching Daley Thompson against the Germans of the time. Couldn't believe he was only 6ft but when fit weighed over 200lbs. and could Put the Shot 15.70m. Product of a Scottish mum and Brit-Nigerian father who was shot dead when Daley was about 12.
In those days a young me would stay up all night after putting the kids to bed, taping whatever World Champs/Olympic T&F were on. Still have those tapes but they must be pretty ratty by now.
Virtually every meet like that was happening during the wee dark hours here in Australia. Then I'd go off to work and do it all again for over a week. I couldn't do it now.
.... Sutherland's last race was below par. I hope it was "just one of those things on the day" rather than anything more sinister
