I thought we might start a thread to review movies we've seen, to spare fellow CF members the ignominy of sitting through an entire 2-hour bomb and to recommend those worthy of viewing.

I'll start:

MR. AND MRS. SMITH

:::: SPOILER ALERT ::::</font>

I went to see Mr. and Mrs. Smith yesterday afternoon. Very funny movie, and Jolie is sexy as hell, but - her character is tougher and more hard core than Pitt's, and the boss of her particular organization of assassins is, of course, a black man.

Pitt's boss is a weird white guy who still lives with his mother, although this guy sometimes steals scenes from his bigger-named co-stars through superior acting and portraying a more colorful character.

I enjoyed this movie and recommend it, despite the presence of the PC characters, 'black boss' and 'super girl.' It was otherwise a very funny movie, with some great fight scenes.

Saw "Batman Begins" today with my son. There were some good things
about the movie; Christian Bale was a great Bruce Wayne (unfortunately,
I didn't much like the way the Batman character was conceived here). A
lot of the legend is pretty interesting, and Michael Caine makes a good
Alfred. I didn't like the way they took so many liberties with the
established history of the Batman character, however. It took
them too long to get Batman on screen, and when they did it just didn't
feel like the traditional dark knight. Political correctness raised its
predictable head throughout the movie. Katie Holmes is a complete
waste; not much of an actress, and her character has no purpose. She is
totally unbelievable as a District Attorney. At least they didn't have
her kick a lot of white male butt, which is usually par for the course
in Hollywood. Then there is Morgan Freeman, who has to be in seemingly
every movie made nowadays. Freeman plays his trademark character,
apparently the only one he knows how to play. Shockingly, Freeman is a
brilliant scientist, who helps Bruce Wayne in many ways. Just as
shockingly, all the criminals in this movie are white. Yep, those city
streets in Hollywod are full of white thugs. Don't know where they hide
in real cities. All in all, I'd probably give this movie a B-. The
grade is only that high because I love the Batman character.

"The Life Aquatic"

Do not rent this useless movie. I don't know how they made a movie about a quest for revenge against a giant shark not-funny, but somehow they managed it. Every semi-funny moment in the movie is actually shown in the commercials for the movie. This is a perfect example of the kind of craps that's bizarre and un-entertaining, which those critics who think they posess some sort of intellectual refinement dub as being in rarefied taste, when in fact it just sucks.

"King Arthur"

Do not rent this useless movie either. AFter the success of the LOTR (largely, I believe, because of it's appeal to primal Nordic elements) the market is primed for more good Medieval/Fantasy pictures, but this ain't it folks.

It starts out with some BS non-history about the Ka-Niggits of the Round Table beint Sarmatians, lavishes praise on Rome in comparison to those "barbarian" Britons, and generrally enrages a Nordicist like myself. Also, we have the sight of a yellow haired Saxon chieftan (Oh, how Hollywood loves to give villians yellow hair) kicking one of his warriors off a Briton wench, mouthing some line about not diluting their blood lines and creating a race of half-breeds, etc. Which is just bunk. Primitive-Euros inbred fairly freely because despite cultural differences, it's obvious to any human with eyes that all Nordics, whether Celt, German, or Slav, are pretty much the same biological sub-species, so a part-Briton part-German isn't a "halfbreed" by any reasonable definition. Of course the film-makers know this, they just want to take a shot at anyone concerned about REAL threats to their race, Anglo-Saxons, and Nordics in general. Suffice to say, I switched the movie off at that point and lamented my wasted dollar.

Although it isn't a recent movie... do I need mention The 13th Warrior on this board? I don't care about Ibn's character - I LOVED THIS MOVIE. Its my favorite of all time.

Big, strong, white men portrayed as great heroes, with courage, determination, and loyalty. I don't care about the historical accuracy of the film, either. The ideals portrayed were far more important to me than whether the historians found fault with the costumes and technology of the time period.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED </font>

I agree with Bigun re: Batman Beginnings. Christian Bales portrayal of Batman was good. The dialogue in this movie I thought was well-written and believable.

Of course, I just shook my head when I saw Morgan Freeman cast as the super scientist, although he wasn't so much portrayed as the inventor but as a reassigned manager of the program. Nevertheless it amounted to another Hollywood version of a black man in a position of power.

As was the Chief of Police in Gotham. At least he was portrayed as an incompetent ******* for a change.

I didn't see the villians as strictly white. Ken Watanabe was the leader of the Ninja Society before he was killed, and a number of the bad guys appeared to be Asian. But yes, there were no blacks cast as bad guys in this movie.

Overall, this movie was far better than any of its predecessors.

I recommend Batman: Beginnings.

For those of you that haven't seen Cinderella Man,go
and see it.I would have to say that it ranks right up
there with Raging Bull. The story moves along very well
and really gives you an idea of how bad it was in the
depression. Not only was this guy a great family man,but
a incredible boxer. Two big thumbs up on this one!

I agree with you completely about "The Life Aquatic." I don't know how
any movie starring Bill Murray could be that bad. When I wasn't nodding
off, the plot seemed incomprehensible to me, and Murray didn't even
attempt to be funny.

White Lightning, great review of "Cinderalla Man." I saw it the other day and was pleasantly impressed.

How gratifying to see a Hollywood movie in which the hero is a white man through and through, even if it takes place in the '30s. Russell Crowe and Mel Gibson are the two Hollywood white man stars who play roles of dignity. Director Ron Howard is an honorable white man, always makes quality movies.

Yes, even though I ground my teeth over how they ruined Crichtons "Eaters of the Dead" when they turned it into 13th Warrior, even though I also ground my teeth over the historical inanity and certain innacuracies and sword-fighting related details (NO sword is so heavy a normal human male couldn't lift it, Middle Easterners didn't use scimitars in Fablan's time, etc), that nice Viking death chant and ideals depicted still got me on my feet.

I probably won't be watching Mel Gibson's new movie Hannibal The Conqueror now that he has Vin Diesel playing Hannibal. Maybe that is the way he looked I don't know, but after watching the Chronicle of Riddick and Triple XXX, I can't bare to watch another one of his movies.

Paul Bettany is another nice white actor who co-stared with Crowe in Master and Commander and A Beautiful Mind. I really liked Guy Pearce, but he has been in some questionable films like the new version of the Time Machine(Ugh!) It's hard to have a favorite actor in today's times. I find television more appealing, such shows like the Shield and the Canadian show Trailer Park Boy's make better use of my time.

If you'd like to see a recent movie with plenty of blacks portrayed as villians, check out "Sahara," with Matthew McConaughey.

McConaughey is in great shape, beats up a few black guys bent on murder/rape of co-star Penelope Cruz, and in general kicks major ass on the black villians in this movie. It has a PC twist to it in that they are saving the world from destruction brought about by hazardous waste, a plot which IMO was unnecessary to this fun, dashing, treasure-hunt type of movie.

The major villian is a black general who came to power through that staple of African politics, the military coup. The co-villian is a wealthy, white businessmen but he is overshadowed by the cruelty and barbarism of the general.

In addition, the movie gives one a sense of the squalid conditions in which blacks live in Africa, without turning it into a sobbing pity-party.

I recommend "Sahara."

I even liked "Russell Crowe's Fightin' Round the World."

"...Just beyond these bushs is a herd of wild Chinaman. Chinamen grow to over five feet in length, and are known to lash out with their feet in fights..."

I didn't realize Mel Gibson had sunk to such levels (casting the
ridiculous Vin Diesel in one of his movies). Maybe it's pennace for
"Passion of the Christ." Mel is still a real wildcard, though, and I
think he represents our best chance of anything truly revolutionary
coming out of Hollywood.

I just read an article that it is Diesel who wants to make this movie and Mel is currently just consulting. There is a possibility that Mel Gibson might direct and be the main source of funding for the project.

Hannibal's death mask reveals him to be notably caucasoid-looking. Even Diesel's half-Italian features just don't resemble the man to any degree, though I will admit I think Diesel has the POTENTIAL to be a good action star.

Gibson hasn't sunk, he's just not racially conscious. His "Patriot" has Ye Olde Noble ******* in it too, perhaps to give viewers a glimpse of this rare creature...what can I say? It is an error, yet let us not castigate our white brothers too much for it, as whites hate others less than any other subspecies of humans, and tend to look for the good in them. We can only do our best to educate them.

Should an American period piece have a multicultural cast ? They have a Western that recently aired on TNT with one. Certainly there were colored folk at the time but they weren't treated so lovingly. I wish they'd focus on the historic aspects rather than making a PC work of fiction out of the Old West. Yes, a lot of the cowboys weren't white, but I'm not so sure we fought along side them by choice.

The black cowboy was rarer than some writers will assert, but he was there. Charles Goodnight had nothing but good things to say about Bose Ikard, one of his black employees.

You must remember, that in the 19th century when blacks really were often enough actually treated unfairly by law and custom, there was paradoxically less real racial tension, and thus more opportunities to appreciate different individuals for whatever virtues they might posess.

MOVIE REVIEW

LAND OF THE DEAD

I'm a fan of campy horror and zombie movies. This one doesn't quite live up to the standard set by other films in the genre. There is plenty of gore and plenty of action, but its marred by poor acting.

In this movie, the Undead learn to think, act and organize. The lead zombie is of course a black man, a former gas station attendant! LOL!

If you can believe it, the main villian is a rich, corrupt, ivory-tower dwelling white men played by Dennis Hopper. In another major role, John Leguizamo portrays a Hispanic thug who is utterly selfish and mercernary, which is a switch from the PC script that all villians must be white.

Although the hero is a white man, and is a tough guy, he is sometimes portrayed as a softie, pardoning friend and foe alike on occasion.

The SWAT-type team that travels with him is a model of political correctness; a diminutive Hispanic-looking female who goes by the name, "Motown;" a huge, fat Samoan, and a tall "white" man named after a bullfighter. The latter is a wuss and gets killed early in the film.

If you like movies in this genre, I'd recommend this film but save yourself a few bucks, stay at home and rent it.

My son and I saw "War Of The Worlds" over the weekend. I thought this
was a very good movie, primarily because of the fantastic special
effects. There was also a total absence of the usual p.c stuff, because
there were no major black characters and no female beat up a much
larger white male. That's really unsual, and obviously a pllus. The
plot could have been fleshed out (for instance, to provide some kind of
motive for the aliens coming to Earth), but then again the movie stuck
pretty close to the original novel, so H.G. Wells is primarily
responsible for those flaws. There was also little character
development, and at the end of the movie we really don't feel we know
anything about Tom Cruise and his family, other than how they
reacted to the shocking invasion of their planet. The visuals are worth
the price of admission, and overall this movie, like "Batman Begins,"
is one I would recommend to everyone but small kids, as there is a
whole lot of unnecessary profanity.

Speaking of other movie reviews...I couldnt believe my ears...listening to half the stuff on "The Longest Yard".

The part where Chris Rock says,"Hell man I was picked afterthe white kids." Wow, I was in a audience just packed with 100% white people and they thought that was funniest thing ever! Then the part where the prinsoner-football team, is like, "man we need some speed". So then of course they go over to where the black guys are and, no doubt, they are all just extremely muscular and ripped. And fast.

Then of course all the white prisoner gaurds are closet Nazi's and they say the "n" word all the time and they need steroids to stay strong(propoganding a myth that whites use steroids more then blacks).

Also another movie comes to mind..."White Chicks". Double-Standard.

What about that one movie with Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac? I havent seen it but I saw the previews for it. Ashton is dating(or is it marrying) a black girl(the chick in the matrix, Nyobi) and her father is a rich, well off black business man. When matrix girl brings home white boy Ashton the dad just freaks out, saying something like,"Why'd you bring home Whitey McWhiterson?"

It just blows my mind. How can they make movies like that with such blatent racist remarks? Can you guys imagine if everything I just said would have been black-white reversed?

Ben Jones, the actor who played Cooter in the Dukes of Hazzard Series is telling true Dukes fans to boycott the movie. He said from the script he read and other info it is full of profanity and direct sexual references. He said it took what was mainly a clean family show (except for Daisy's shorts) and has made a mockery of it. I myself will not be going to watch it.

Ashton Kutcher got the character from Robert Deniro and his wife.
