    2024 Indoor Season

Starting off this thread for the New Year . . . the first result I have to note is Tiam Whelpton of New Zealand ran 6.66 60m in Spain. Actually that was on December 29th of 2023, but effectively it's a 2024 result. Anyway, a good time to open the season.

    John Hadl dies

John Hadl, who was QB for the high powered Chargers in the 1960s and early 70s, passed away yesterday. Besides his accomplishments as a QB (he was 3rd on the all-time passing yards list when he retired), it was interesting to find out that he played halfback at Kansas before being converted to a...

    RIP Don Maynard

https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-don-maynard-legendary-jets-wr-and-hall-of-famer-dies-at-86-195612229.html I don't think it's been mentioned here yet that Don Maynard died recently. He played for the NY Jets, and is still the team's all time receiving leader. Also he was the league's all-time...

Paul Hornung and Other Recent NFL Deaths

Paul Hornung, an NFL great, passed away today. Other recent passings which I didn't see mentioned were Baltimore Colts linebacker Mike Curtis and Colts wide receiver Jimmy Orr. Mike Curtis was a tremendous, all star linebacker, and Orr averaged 19.8 yds/reception for his career!

Dafne Schippers is basically Wonder Woman on the track. A heptathlete turned sprinter, she is among the best in the world in both endeavors. Tyson Gay and Jamaicans test positive for banned substance

http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/t/story/tyson-gay-tests-positive-banned-substance-19661785 I am not surprised when any of the top top sprinters test positive. But I was looking forward to someone challenging Bolt in the 100m. Don't think it will happen. Chances are he will get a suspension and be...

    Italian Basketball Players

I'm just taking note that there are several Italian players in the NBA now, and some others of Italian descent. These guys would make a pretty good team: Andrea Bragnani - starting forward/center, Toronto Dino Gallinari - starting forward, Denver Manu Ginobili - guard, from Argentina of...

It's early I know, but they are already running outdoors in Australia. Sally Pearson, the Olympic 100m hurdles champion opened her season with a great 200m time of 23.51 on a wet track. I'm very happy she's off to a good start, and hope to see more great things from her this year.

    White WRs 2012

I thought 2012 was going to really be something special for white WRs. Wes Welker and Jordy Nelson were already established as top wide receivers.
