2026 Track Results

Aidan Murphy of Australia runs 20.05 (0.6w) today at the Oceania Athletics Championships.
that's twice he's gone past Peter Norman's recently - and straight after heats and final of the 400m with his 44.44. He's blossomed this season and his 6'5" height doesn't seem to work agsinst him (maybe in the 100m but I bet he breaks his 10.23 pb soon).
Points wise over 100,200,400 he is now our best ever oversll sprinter

some other notable results: Tentoglou won the long jump in 8.46m, Prandini 5th in the 200m in a pedestrian 22.46, Amy Hunt digressing to 7th in 22.87. Aussie Abby Caldwell wins the 1500m in 3:57.26. Warholm starting to get his legs as he was 2nd in the 400mh in a seasons best 46.82

Your head can be past the starting line but not your fingers. Your body weight is on your fingers mostly and you are what we call in sprint coaching "rocked and locked" so your head is naturally past your line of balance otherwise you are weighted back into your blocks. Your legs and feet act as springs to launch you out of the blocks, pressing the balls of your feet into the blocks then pushing off while your arms/fingers balance your forward lean.
Thanks, sprintstar. I appreciate the information.

Mastermulti, I just read an article about Murphy. His mother is Tania Van Heer, the great sprinter who ran for Australia.

Lachlan got 6th place in China today at 10.06. I hope he is not coming off of his peak for this season.

I'm not worried as I believe I know what is going on. FIrst off he ran 10.01 and 10.06 in the last 7 days. Not the end of the world and
especially for the first time racing in China against a high level caliber of sprinters. His coach is easing him off his peak from a month
ago on purpose. Why do you ask? Because he knows Lachie will have to hit another peak for the Commonwealth Games in July. This
is a huge international meet that only happens every several years. I expect Lachlan Kennedy to be back in peak form when in runs
in Oregon and we just may see another personal best time there. If not there then at the Commonwealth Games the Australian All Time
100 Meters Record of Patrick Johnson will be broken by Kennedy. I would bet on it in Las Vegas if I could.

Remember Australian Sprinters have to peak twice to run in the normal summer season. Not an easy thing to do. Kennedy will shine
when it's prime time.

Sam Blaskowski is running today in Los Angeles.

Sam Blaskowski finished 2nd in his heat running a 10.09 +0.1 to qualify for the Finals!

Let's hope he can go a little faster in the final. Hope for a little more positve wind too. A new personal best would be great!

German Sprinter Yannick Wolf ran a 10.15 +0.7 to open his outdoor season. Great start to the season for him!

He ran his p.b. of 10.05 last summer so here is a beer and a cheers & toast to him breaking that record!

Yes that's correct. I bet she's proud of him - he's been "maintaining" for 2 or 3 years into the senior ranks but stuck at it and now 23 he seems to have hit his straps. He has credited it with having to chase Gout Gout - he needed someone to "gee him up" as we Aussies say. We could have some great relay teams coming up hopefully - both 4 and 1

yep, and peaking isn't so much a matter of the muscular toll but the nervous system drain I believe.
Some here would know better than I

Shae Anderson unattached 6th 400m in 52.82 LA sports festival. Haven't heard her name for quite a while now. Sami Oblad 4th in the same race in 52.34

Ajla Del Ponte of Switzerland ran a time of 11.11 wind legal. She is gonna turn 30 in July so she is primed for some great times like the last few years. Hoping for some really fast times from her. Her p.b. of 10.90 is from 5 years ago but don't write her off just yet. I see some more
sub 11's coming this summer!

yes, she's been very quiet the last 4 years or so - great to see her back. She was 5th in Tokyo with a 10.97, having done a PB 10.90 that year too with +1.8 at La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Here's some AI information "Ajla Del Ponte has been navigating a gradual comeback to track and field following a severe triple stress fracture in her tibia, which required surgery in late 2022. After a long rehabilitation process, she resumed training and began returning to competitive form".
Hopefully the rest and recovery time off will means a few years of competing left in her.
