Gradus Kraus

Young light heavyweight from Holland, Gradus Kraus:

He's Ok, but if I were his trainer I'd tell him don't fall in love with your power and I'd teach him how to punch from positions where return-fire can't reach him or hurt him.

And, what in the flying feathers is a Chinawoman doing in the ring as a referee???

I was thinking the same thing. Kid has power and looks conditioned but his technique needs a lot of work before he starts fighting real contenders. I do see a good foundation though. If he can get with the right team he probably has a future. Be nice to see a white Dutchman come up the ranks.

It was weird hearing the recorded count when the opponent went down while the Chinawoman ref was holding her fingers up. The way she immediately waved it off was odd too, almost like someone outside the ring was directing her.

Fun to watch and a lot of power but takes quite a bit of punishment.

Good observations. Seems the event got away with the Chinawoman in the bout because Gradus Kraus (sounds like a Roman gladiator's name lol) was in so much control he self-refereed his own bout by backing off and going to the neutral corner before the woman had any say in the matter.

True. Sometimes a fighter will relax with his own defense knowning his offense is going to bring him the victory no matter what. Even Canelo did that against some weak opponents. But I don't like it. On the way up a fighter should practice his defense-first mindset in real live-fire matches even against falldowns. That's how Loma became so good his father would never let him forget the stratefic initiative of defense-first-attack-second.

Even though he is a light heavyweight he brings back memories of Tommy Morrison. I think this kid has a higher upside. His defense is
very good when he isn't showboating too much. I agree with Ambrose about defense first and offense second as you fight better & better competition. Even in the Bible it says Pride goeth before destruction. His talent is special. I look forward to his next fights.
