Sorry guys. I won't buy into the propaganda. Give the kid a REAL COACH and he can & will turn his career back around fast!
I guarantee it. Even since he was in high schools so many brainwashed track fans/normies and just racist fans have begged for
him to run the 400 or 800. Then he won't challenge their magical athletes. America doesn't want fast white sprinters and
especially a white male with blonde hair and blue eyes. It would wake too many people up that YES it's POSSIBLE.

Despite his talent at the 400 meters he belongs in the 100 and 200 meters. Let me train the kid? I would love to have a chance. Me,
sprintstar, mastermulti and maybe even a few others of us here could do a better job than his coach did. It's flat out embarssing for
that level of athlete at the top of the bell curve to run these times. The University of Georgia should also be angry and what has been
done to the kid. He is not hurt and not overweight. He is overtrained, overraced, and trained the wrong way. Even his teammate in the
sprints did horrible and he is black. She is not a good coach. Get out of Georgia and don't look back. Also don't listen to the moving
up to 400 or even some talk of 800 from people. NO. NO and I will say it ONE LAST TIME. NO!!!
Why is a woman coaching men’s sprints? Honest question.

Because America and the Whole West has fallen for the Woke Agenda. From feminism to cultural marxism to the trans & lgbtq movements.

It says in the Holy Bible that you should never let a foreigner or a woman lead your country. Well they are in Politics(vice president US), ceo's of many woke businesses and of course at all levels of sports now. What can go wrong? It's a train wreck of epic proportions.

It also say in the Bible that a house or nation divided cannot stand.

She put in the work look at her resume she has a deep resume but that still doesn't mean she is the right coach for Boling or is using him properly for the long term development of Boling. Obviously racial and gender politics probably were a consideration too(it always is).

People ask why Boling is staying there it might be for academic reasons as most track athletes need to get jobs after their careers are over this sport really only pays the super stars well and even then its journeyman money by Big 4 league levels. He also could be taking in consideration that he hasn't made a national team yet in any event he contests and sponsors won't throw around 6 figure sponsorships for athletes with his resume.

Boling was coached for his freshman year under Petros Kyprianou. I wish he would have stayed on at Georgia. He now is a coach
at the University of Nebraska. It would have been interesting to see what he could have done with Boling over 4 years. Guess we will
never truely know but I'm almost positive is would have been alot better than she has done. It's a travesty of the highest level of talent!

I just reported that high schooler Gatlin Bair ran a 10.15 in Idaho this weekend .... which made me think of Boling, and then realize that Boling isn't even one of the top 5 fastest white guys in the US this year.
There are 2 high schoolers, 2 guys at Iowa, and Cole Beck, who have all run faster than him this year.
That's really incredible . . . in a bad way. :(

I see that Boling has not declared to participate in the 100m at the NCCA Regionals, so I believe his 100m season is done.
I don't think we will see him race at this distance again this year.
However, he has declared for the 200m, so we'll see if he can redeem himself a little in that event.
The NCAA Regionals start on the 24th of May.

Is it at all possible that Boling hasn’t been running clean and he’s either in between cycles or his trainer messed something up with his protocol? I hope that wouldn’t be the case but it’s a fair question to ask when a guy suddenly loses a quarter of a second on his 100m times and is not seemingly injured.

No it's just over racing and the wrong type of training. The kid ran a 9.98 windy in high school and 10.11 wind legal. He does not need the
magic potion to run fast. It's the coach who is mostly responsible. She has killed the kids confidence and he has reverted to running tight
again like a few years ago. If your not relaxed your not gonna run fast no matter how talented you are. He looks so tight & stressed when
sprinting.

Admittedly this past weekend for Boling did not go quite as I had expected. However, its also not necessarily all that bad - none of us can know for sure as none of us are in his training circle. He doe not appear to be injured, and as Freedom1 said here the other day, there is no way possible he has peeked yet considering he ran a world-leading 20.12 indoor and is only 22 years old! PRs for this year are definitely still attainable.

The issue clearly seems to be his training and lack of what appears to be real sprint work. White Lightning, myself, and others have alluded to this many times. He clearly has lots of stamina given his beginning of April 43.7 split at the Texas Relays. Honestly, the longer you can hold off on your speed work for a season the better the potential time when needed at peak, but only assuming you are able to stay relatively competitive without it during the early meets. That strategy paid off indoors. It also appears to be paying off for his teammates:
1. Elijah Godwin came in second at Conference in the 400m in 44.55
2. Will Sumner won the 800m at Conference in 1:46.20
3. Caleb Cavenaugh was third in the 400h in 49.07
4. Christopher Morales Williams ran a career-best 45.87 400m. His previous best from high school was 46.27. He just missed the finals by 2 tenths.
5. Keshaun Black ran a career-best 200m in 20.82 though only a 10.31 in the 100m

These guys will all run faster the next time out.

Then there is Boling. He ran a 20.52 200m in the final and did not even make the final in the 100m. This clearly was not what they had drawn up as the plan. I dont think they were necessarily planning on fireworks, but this was definitely slower than what they wanted. It probably is very much a mental thing. Sprinters often need to feel like they are running fast to perform. Whatever they are doing Boling is clearly struggling and he's not running relaxed which is a clear sign that the training is not working for him. Not everyone can be trained the same. it's easy to blame the coaches and maybe it is there fault. But I could also see the shortcomings being Boling's. I guarantee whatever they are doing he signed on for - he's too big not to get his consent. I dont think he's trusting in it - he's trying to run faster right now than what his training will allow and he's not sticking to his mechanics and running relaxed and with confidence. He's panicking and he's forcing and consequently, he's running even slower. Maybe he cant handle not competing with any speed work?? That's too bad. Because if he could the results could be amazing come July when it matters most.

As it is everything is still correctable. But he's got to relax and they need to have a coming to Jesus meeting to figure out what they are going to do and what they are going to commit to.

Something is definitely off. That's obvious.
However I find it hard to believe that someone who is training (whatever that training might be), and is as naturally fast as Boling, can be running slower than he ever has. Sure, the training might not be right (although he was fine last year), but there has to be something more going on .... although I don't know what that might be.

Regarding the age at which a sprinter peaks, there is no formula. Many sprinters peak in high school. Some sprinters peak in their mid to late 20s, others in their early 20s. Lemaitre peaked when he was 21 years old.
But Boling's drop off has been too steep to say that he peaked as of last year. Something's amiss, but who really knows?!

I know the answer for that… it was an honest but rhetorical question, meant for any lurkers to take note.

Here you have arguably the Fastest high school springer of all-time and he seemingly regresses in college… that is on coaching. Period.

Boling has untapped potential and I believe has not hit his ceiling. But his form is suspect, he runs rigid and not relaxed. His coaching is atrocious.

I'm just so angry that he is not in the 100 meters! If he could only run 1 event ever I would choose for Boling to run the 100. It is the
glamour event and all the big money and fame come from being the fastest man in the world. The 200 is my second favorite.

So how does his coach not run him in any 60 meters all indoors. It's like this was intentional to get him to move to the 200 & 400
meters forever and give up the 100. The kid ran 9.98 and 10.03 wind legal one year ago when he was 21 years old. So now they
just pack it in and call his 100 career over? Complete horse sh**. Don't know what else to say but nothing made any sense in the
indoor or outdoor season. The only positive is they finally gave up the long jump which is too easy to get hurt. Other than that the
whole training and race program was a disaster minus the one incredible race. The rest of the season sucked and the coach is to blame!

He chose the program and it doesn’t seem to have helped him much. Hoping he just goes pro, gets better coaching and excels.

Matthew Boling 20.17 in his heat at the NCAA East Regionals.

Now that is a good time. Not great but a seasons best by far outdoors and it should help him to get some confidence back. I think it's
crazy to have both opening heats of the 100 and 200 meters today. That hurts performances in my opinion. Then again these
guys are young and in good shape so they should be able to handle it. I'm still angry Boling wasn't in the 100 meters!

but it'd be a great time if he was (hopefully) keeping his powder dry in this first round and can improve subsequently.
So different to a 20.52 from a week ago

Here's an interview with Boling after the NCAAs.
He has a good attitude, and he says that there was nothing up with him as we might have thought, causing his disappointing performances.
But it sounds like he is motivated to continue to try to get better.

Wish it was longer but you could tell he was tired. Glad he is staying positive. Even in life the successful people in business usually fail
many, many times before they find the right formula. Most people quit and give up but winners never stop getting back up and trying.

Bolings best outdoor race in 2023 was when he ran 20.17 +1.1 back on May 24th. Then it all went backwards after that but that's still fast!
To just see a small glimpse of his potential think back to last spring of 2022. Boling ran a 19.92 into a negative 0.9 wind. That is insane talent
and it just needs to be developed. Please leave your coach and find someone else. The kid is so nice he will never talk bad about anyone
including her but inside he has to be crushed. He may be advised to run one more year at Georgia but with that coach I would be very
apprehensive about him staying. Then I am worried for Brody Buffington who is now enrolled. Would like to see Georgia hire a new coach.

I will admit i would be very cool to see him and Buffington on a 4 x 100 Relay Squad together.

He doesnt need to be making any decisions about his future until this season is completely in the books, especially since he needs his coach for at least the remainder of this season. Clearly, some things are not clicking right now. But as you mentioned he did run a 19.92 last year and much more recently than that he ran a 20.12 indoor! And he ran a 43.7 split. That conditioning and knowing how to run fast isnt going to disappear in 4 months - its still there. This whole season, since the start of indoors he has never had more than two weeks off between races; that's since January 13th or 5 months! He now has 4 weeks to recover and figure things out. He definitely can put it all together by then. The only problem with the 200m is that they will only take 4 athletes (Lyles automatic) whereas the 100 and 400 will take 6 for relays. Its going to be tough to make the team, but he certainly can do it. If not, as he said, he will still go run in a few professional meets this year abroad. I still think he probably PRs at least in the 200m this year and still possible in the 100m. Oh, and he has run 39 races so far this year including a total of 12 over a distance of 400m. That's a lot so the rest will be good for him.

As mentioned in another post, Matthew Boling will run in the 200m and 400m at the US Championships.
The 400m comes first. I think running rounds of the 400m will be too tough for him, as he didn't compete at this event in college.
In the 200m he is in the toughest heat by far, with Kenny Bednarek, Michael Norman, and Erriyon Knighton. All 3 are legit medal contenders. So I don't see Boling making it out of the 1st round in the 200m.

Exactly jacknyc. This is why he should have just entered in the 200 meters. At least he could have left it all on the table. He will probably
end up pulling out of the 200 after the 400 destroys his body. Sadly first round exit in both. He would have been better off going to
Europe as I said. He is no shape to do either at this level. That being said the other guys in the is US Champs have no chance either. None
of them have showed any type of form remotely capable of making the US Team for the World Champs. Just being honest.

I also think Steiner is making a mistake in not contesting both the 100/200m. She will be hard pressed to make the US team in the 200m although she is a shoe-in for the 4x100 and potentially the 4x400m relay teams... I do not think Marybeth Sant has shot in the 100m unless she goes sub 10.90 cuz the black sprinters she is facing are most definitely using PED's and will go sub 10.90 easily.

My advice to Boling is just give it your best, learn from the experience and above all else have fun!
