Swiss sprinter Pascal Mancini has been busted for steroids. Good riddance! I never did pull for him because it was always so obvious that he was juiced like a Jamaican. His muscles had muscles, he had zero bodyfat, and veins everywhere.

That's what these asinine LeMaitre accusers don't understand. You can always recognize roiders just by looking at them. Guys like Mancini are obvious roiders. LeMaitre looks NOTHING like that. We could save millions of dollars on testing labs simply by having athletes take their shirts off and display their physiques before a race. It's the only perfect test.

Buh-Bye, Pascal. Viva La Christophe! Now if we can catch those bastard Jamaican cheats.

To be fair guys, he is a short stocky guy. He is sueing the doctor. I think he was probably on them but I do know guys that are just naturally built like that. All sprinters are very vascular. I would say 70% that he was juicing and 30% that he wasn't. The Swiss Federation is waiting to see what happens. I don't ever remember seeing a law suit before against a personal doctor. So basically I'm saying that he probably is but there is a chance that he is innoncent. Matt Shirvington was built very powerfully as well but he never tested positive. It is possible to be big without peds although it's alot harder. Shirvo was clean and Mancini might be. Let's see what happens down the road. If he is guilty, then ban him for seveal years. I agree that I can't stand cheats either black or white!!

Some big news out of Germany. A young guy that I had high hopes for a few years ago. Julian Reuss who is barely 23 just ran an eye popping 6.59 seconds in the 60! This is a huge break through for the young lad. He has battled injuries ever since the World Junior Champs many years ago. He is still young and hopefully he can make it through the season with out any more bad luck. I think this kid could be capable of some big things if his body holds up!

Tommorow in Glasgow, Christian Blum will be racing. I expect him to get into the 6.50's range as well as long as he gets a good start. He ran a 6.61 just two weeks ago in his first race. He will be racing Kim Collins, Mike Rodgers and a few other big names. It should be a very fast race. The German Sprinters are going to be fun to watch this year. Now if only the Italians and English guys can get it going.

Here's a US women's long sprinter to note - Fawn Dorr.
Formerly of Penn State, she won the 400m at the New Balance Games in NYC over some good competition, including a couple of Jamaican sprinters.
Her time of 53.34 is 2nd fastest in the US this year.
She also has the fastest US women's 500m and 600m this year.
Always nice to see some American women sprinters for a change.

Also found another new name, Ricco Hall of Nebraska on the US top10 400m lists. He is a freshman, and had a stellar track career in Michigan as a sprinter - best 100m time 10.55.
Another freshman, Chris Geisting from Notre Dame, is also on the US top10 400m list. We mentioned him in the HS thread last year.
All these runners are off to a good start for the 2012 season.

Various news--

I notice that Michael LeBlanc is still running. Running unattached, he took first at a Penn State meet yesterday in the 60m. I imagine he's staying in shape for the Canadian Olympic trials.

Tomorrow, we'll finally get to see the college debut of Chris Fitzsimons, running for Syracuse. He redshirted last year, but looked like a men among boys in high school. He'll be going up against Cas Loxsom and Robbie Creese in the 800, although wonderfreshman Creese is in a separate heat.

It's always hard to get news on the college runners, but Brady Gehret (400) doesn't seem to be in the meet. Hopefully, he's not injured. Meanwhile, Arkansas 400 runner Neil Braddy coasted in with a time two seconds slower than expected in the 200 yesterday--so yet another injury fear. Laura Roesler did not travel with Oregon, but she may simply be redshirting the indoor season. And sexy Melissa Breen, the Aussie sprinter, just finished a 100 m in 35 seconds, so she must have pulled a muscle or something. I'd appreciate any news on these names.

I'm not sure whether we want to start a separate thread for the Aussie outdoor season that has just started. They held the Adelaide track classic last night in gale force winds that depressed all the times (some of the sprints went off over -3.0, for example). So it's hard to tell if Ryan Gregson is legitimately back, as the time was slow, but he did beat Jeff Riseley in the 1500. Gregson is a potential Kenyan killer who suffered through an injury-plagued 2011.

jacknyc--dude, those two finds of yours are special. I didn't recall either name, so I just googled them a bit, watched some high school videos, read some articles. Geisting, for example, just broke the ND school and track record in the 500 (an occasional indoor distance) as a freshman in his first meet. Both were ridiculous as hs seniors. I believe Geisting was in the 46's and Hall around 47 flat. Geisting did it as a very skinny, underveloped kid who doesn't even resemble a sprinter yet. Hall's berecruited profile lists his birthday as November, 1995--if that's correct, I'm either doing the math wrong, or he's just 16????

Anyway, great finds. We'll need to pull together a new, updated watch list before too long to help us keep track of all the young talents.

In Glasgow today, Konstatin Shabanov of Russia tied for the world leading time in the 60m hurdles in 7.54. Andy Turner of Britain finished last.
Pavel Trenikhin of Russia won the 400m in a very good time of 46.68. I never heard of this guy before.
Julia Terekhova also of Russia won the women's 400m in 53.51.
So the Russians are dominating the Americans and British so far.

Some quick results. Verena Sailer won the 60 today in a blazing time of 7.24 to meet the standard for the world indoor champs. Unger won in the 60 in the same meet with a time of 6.70 so he is just getting old. The kid who finished 2nd to him though is named Patrick Domogala. He ran a new p.b. of 6.76 at only 18. He is going to be a good one to watch.

Blum finished 3rd in an average time of 6.67 but only lost to MLF by .02 despite a lackluster start. Andy Pozzi ran a very fast 60 hurdles time today too in England with a time of 7.66 in Leo Valley. Danny Talbot of England won the 200 at Glasgow beating Kim Collins with a time of 21.17! I have mentioned Shabanov multiple times before. Do a search on his name.

Great updates gentlemen. I thank you for keeping the board going with current results.

What a start to the season guys! We haven't had these kinds of results this early for years now! I was wondering if anyone has info on Aleksandr Shpaer of Russia? He turned in a 6.68 60m and he is only 22 years old. Could be a guy to watch. Also I noticed Shane Crawford ran a 6.71 60m. I remember some folks here saying he would probably hang it up since he was graduating college. Is he back? I'm curious about him since he is one of the only American guys we have right now running at a high level!

Okay, let's kick this season off with some real results.

At some point, I'll create a new watch list. In the meanwhile, I guess we need to learn the name Robbie Creese. He was a good state-but-not-national level high school runner who seems to have walked on at Penn State. So why are we interested? Because in his first collegiate meet, this unheralded nobody went out and broke the NCAA record as well as the American JR record in the 1000m. Broke it is an understatement. Previously, the great Alan Webb (US record holder in the mile) had set the record. Then it was broken by the amazing Robbie Andrews (check out the 800 threads for his extraordinary rise). But here comes this kid Creese (who didn't even have a bio on the team site until after he broke the record) and he CRUSHES the old JR mark by three full seconds. Taking Robbie Andrews' old 2:22 down to 2:19.53. Apparently, he's good.

At the same meet, Cas Loxsom (readers of this board will remember his exploits of last year well), broke his own Penn State 600 record with a flying 1:16.66.

A pretty good first meet. I'm looking forward to seeing what these PSU boys can do in mid season form (And don't forget they've got Brady Gehret, too).

Junior Cas Loxson over freshman Robbie Crese today at Penn State - 1:48.24 vs. 1:48.64. Must have been a good race.
Brady Gehret only ran on the relay.

I'm actually shocked that Michael LeBlanc ran that fast. He has been in neutral or reverse for a long time now. I'm very happy to see him still competing after graduating and also to be running at a higher level for the first time in a long time. He is built alot like Shirvo. The guy is really a student of athletics.

This could be a really remarkable year for us track nuts at this board. Both the short distance, long distance and field events look to be special. In the 60 alone, we might have at least 4 or 5 guys in the 6.50's range alone. That would be great. It reminds me of 2009 but might even be better. Nothing like an olympic year. I think some of the old guys are returning back to form and alot of the newbies are making great strides. It's a fun time to be a track & field fan.

Okay, some additional results and comments:

1) Canadian Cam Levins--ran the fastest NCAA 3k in the past 2 years yesterday, 7:48. Extremely impressive, especially given that he beat three African professionals who run for the OTC (Oregon Track Club). Levins only runs for Southern Utah.
2) What's more--Levins had just run a fine 13:42 indoors the day before. This kid (a redshirt junior) is ready to make noise.
3) Miles Batty--a star miler for BYU last year, and one of the best milers in the US was only a second behind Levins, and he, too, beat the three African professionals.
4) Fast miles at the PSU meet--Jeff See, a professional, won in 3:56. Cory Leslie, a junior at Ohio State finished second in 3:56.85. Folks, those are indoor times. Smoking!
6) Speaking of FAST miles--a name I didn't know, David McCarthy, apparently Irish, runs for Providence College, ran an indoor 3:55.75 yesterday. Sheesh!
7) As previously reported, Cas Loxsom--one of the best 800 guys in the country--just barely edged freshman teammate Robbie Creese, who broke the junior and collegiate 1000m marks last week--in the 800. This just in: Robbie Creese is for real! It appears as if he may just be a walk-on. So tough to compete in athletics when one race achieves physical maturity at a much younger age and steals all the scholarships. I'm just glad there are a few guys like Creese that stick with it anyway, and show what they can do with a little more maturity.
8) The Arkansas boys took 2,5,8 (Skidmore, Braddy, Niit, respectively) out of 41 entrants in the 400 yesterday, and Braddy's anchor was the second fastest relay leg at the meet. It's early in the season, but I think these guys can makes some serious noise.

I hope that's not too much all at once.

Sebastian Ernst ran a 21.17 today indoors. What a great start for the indoor season. This guy always runs good indoors. I just want to see that translate to outdoors.

On the girl's side, sophomore Katie Flood ran 8:55 for the indoor 3k yesterday. That's just about second and change from the NCAA record.

And speaking of Loxsom, watch him blow past the field on the third leg of the 4 by 400. He does this every time. Here he is, an 800 runner, who's just run an exhausting 800, and he sprints past the 400 runners like they're standing still.

Following up on a new guy, Ricco Hall ran a 21.33 indoor 200 yesterday. Not bad for a freshman with probably very little experience on tight indoor tracks. Let's see where he finishes the season.

And at the Indiana relays, Giesting again ran well. However, he was bested by another of our young ones, Patrick Feeney: "MEN'S 400m: The Irish picked up their first win of the weekend as Feeney and Giesting went 1-2 in the 400m dash. Feeney hit USATF and IAAF standards with a time of 47.38, while Giesting secured an IAAF standard with a time of 47.59."

Thank you trackster. You made my viewing day excellent. I love all of you guys helping to post results almost as soon as they happen and the videos is like the icing on the cake. We have so many young men and women to follow and the list continues to grow. Very exciting times indeed both in the US and around the globe.
