Losing to Canada with players with names like Stubby Clapp.I don't know.Listening to the radio last night one of the blabbers had it figured out that if it came down to tie-beakers the U.S.could be eliminated if Mexico beats Canada but doesn't score more than two runs in doing so.

The most complicated tie-breaker scheme I have ever come across. Not used to score-differential mattering in baseball. The players and coaches don't understand it. The US should still get in with a victory tommorrow.

"its not our past time anymore"

Dont forget that MLB is roughly 60 percent white... Granted this is only becasue most pitchers are white.

The majority of the people on this site post on the football section, and obviously football isn't our past time either,so what is the big deal?

Here's what needs to happen:
If the U.S. beats South Africa on Friday, it will advance to the second round due to a complicated three-way tiebreaker based on runs allowed. In this odd system, the United States would've been eliminated before it plays South Africa if Mexico had beaten Canada by scores of 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1.

Mexico won 9 to 1, by the way.Edited by: Bear-Arms

A-Rod singles up the middle with bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the ninth to beat Japan 4-3. Nice win but very fortunate considering controversial play in the eigth where a japanese player didn't tag up properly on a sac fly and cost his team a run. Kind of a bonehead play for the cerebral Japanese.

I just saw the replay and it looks like it might have been a bad call but the runner should have left no room for doubt. If you leave a half-second too soon and the other team challenges it like the USA did then that's the way it rolls.

It was a bad call. I bet the Japanese are pissed. I think that Japan's performance is a good example of how having a homogenous population can be healthy for a nation in every way. If those same Japanese men had grown up in the U.S. they would have never been given the opportunity to develop seperately from Blacks and Whites who mature faster. They wouldn't be professional athletes today with the exception of maybe one or two. My observation is based on my experience as a White running back. My dad moved our family to a White suburb because he thought I would never get a chance to run with the football in the majority Black city we were living in. He was right. I developed into one of the better backs in our area, including Blacks. I wouldn't have become the man I am now if it weren't for sports and that chance to develop. I might have become some pot head skater like many of the White kids in integrated schools. I admire the Japanese for defending their heritage from the cancer that is multiculturalism.

I hope those two teams go at it again. It was fun what part of it I got to see.

Nice post, KG, I'm glad you escaped the fate of so many white kids past and present. And the Japanese are indeed admirable in many ways. Their unshakeable commitment to their own people and culture is the main reason they have fallen out of favor with the multiculturalists in Washington, D.C. and Hollywood.

I noticed that the U.S.A. - Japan game was on at 4:00pm and the Dominican vs Puerto Rico game was at 8:eek:opm in prime time. Anyone else here feel that the Hispanic ballplayers are being pushed on the TV audience and the U.S. team is playing second fiddle.

It was because the USA lost a game and finished at the bottom of their division GWTJ. They also got the Auxiliary clubhouses by the bullpen because of their loss.

I looked it up on the WBC website. All the games from Pool#2, which is all the Hispanic teams, are in prime time. Pool#1 has games scattered early and late as well as some in primetime.

Willis got blasted again in his second start of the WBC. The U.S. was beaten soundly by Korea. At the begining of the game, the announcers were talking about how little power the Koreans had but they won by not making mistakes. Just then a Korean took Willis deep for his fifth homer of the classic.

I sure hope they skip Dontrell's turn to start if the american team advances. That is two games he cost us by getting shelled early in each start.

I really dont care who wins. I cant believe they started Dontrell twice. What BS. What an insult to Clemens and Lidge. The team is majority white only because most of the pitchers are white. But if they wont use the white pitchers, like they should, then its like they arnt even there. Most of the other players are not white. I bet the Astors of last year would have killed this South Korea team.

They only have 3 starters (Clemens, Peavy, and Willis) so they really have no choice.. Willis shouldn't be getting shelled like this, they need to use the pen sooner when he pitches because he is killing the US.. now it's up to Clemens to save the US hopes of winning it.

Clemens is pitching tonight against Mexico. If the USA wins, they will go into the single elimination semifinals with undefeated 6-0 Korea. The Dominican Republic and Cuba are in the other semifinals.

We lost 2-1 to Mexico eliminating the USA. Dang it! I still say if we would just send a club team over there like whoever the world series champions are in any given year, we would win it. ALL-Star teams always look better on paper than they perform on the field.

A better format than national all-star teams would be a Champions League as they have in soccer. The top finishing team(s) in each professional league would be in the tournament.

I wonder what the split was percentage-wise between Mexico fans and USA fans at the game in Anaheim? MEH-HEE-KO! MEH-HEE-KO!

I suspect Selig is pleased with the US not being in the finals. Promoting the game among the third world and all that. Mugabe might enter a team the next time around.

Not having the US probably killed their ratings because they were already trying to compete with March Madness. It was hard to motivate the US to even care while the US was playing in the WBC, and the casual baseball fan most likely does not care about DR-Cuba or Japan-Korea..
