Yes, this mindset of theirs doesn't allow them to focus on one other thing in the world other than what's pleasurable. When I saw a black guy on a job I always wondered just how long he could hold out working each day until he completely came apart in some way? I seldom was wrong. They usually started being late and then not coming in at all. not that they were setting the world on fir with their work when they were there.
