Too bad Chavez, Jr had the high fever, Wolak will face Jose Pinzon instead.
I dunno what to do with this one, but I'll leave it as a reminder, of what could've been.

Top Rank Promotions has announced that junior middleweight (154 pounds) contender Pawel Wolak (pictured at right) of New Jersey will replace injured Alfonso Gomez as the Dec. 4 opponent against junior middleweight and middleweight (160 pounds) prospect Julio Cesar Chavez of Mexico at The Pond in Anaheim, Calif..
Nicknamed "The Raging Bull," the 29-year-old Wolak (27-1, 17 knockouts) had originally been slated to face the 24-year-old Chavez (40-0-1, 30 KOs) before Chavez became a consideration to meet WBA junior middleweight king Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28 KOs) of Puerto Rico.
As a result, Chavez decided not to fight Wolak, who already had begun training for the bout, choosing to instead concentrate on his match up with Cotto.
Cotto, later, decided to take the year off rather than face Chavez, who then elected to instead face Gomez (22-4-2, 11 KOs),.
Gomez withdrew on Wednesday after an MRI detected a ligament tear in his left elbow.
"It's a great opportunity. We're very much looking forward to the fight. And I think that the fight has been overdue, and Pawel is ready to go," said Wolak's manager, Ivan Edwards, adding that his fighter already had been training for a December 16 fight that had been scheduled to take place in New York City.
"Wolak, right now, is pretty much on schedule for this fight. We're going to take the training to another level now over the next couple of days," said Edwards of Wolak, who is ranked No. 7 by the WBA. "One of the reasons that I was pushing so hard for Wolak to have a fight in December was that I always wanted to be ready in the event that something like this happened so that we could step right in."
The son of the former multi-world champion by the same name, Chavez is coming off of July's unanimous decision over New York's John Duddy (29-2, 18 KOs) at The Alamo dome in San Antonio, Texas.
Wolak, of Mount Arlington, N.J., is coming off of a June 5, unanimous decision over James Moore (17-3, 10 KOs) of New York, that took place at Yankee Stadium. Wolak has won six straight fights, three of them by knockout.
