Novak Djokovic going for his fifth consecutive major title. Which, I believe, would be a record in the open era. Don Budge holds the record with six consecutive titles.

I haven't gotten into the actual matches yet. I did see that Jimi Hendrix of the tennis courts, Gael Monfils, loss.

Wow! Muguruza crashes in the second round.

5:20 p.m.

French Open champion and 2015 Wimbledon runner-up Garbine Muguruza has been stunned in the second round at the All England Club by a qualifier ranked 124th.

Less than a month after winning her first Grand Slam title, the second-seeded Muguruza lost 6-3, 6-2 to Jana Cepelova of Slovakia in less than an hour Thursday. Muguruza made 22 unforced errors and only managed to produce nine winners.

A year ago at Wimbledon, Muguruza reached her first major final, losing to Serena Williams. Less than a month ago at Roland Garros, Muguruza beat Williams for the championship.

Cepelova has equaled her best showing at a Grand Slam tournament by getting to the third round.

This, though, is hardly her first big victory. At Wimbledon last year, she knocked off third-seeded Simona Halep in the first round. And at Charleston, South Carolina, in 2014, Cepelova defeated top-ranked Serena Williams.

Too bad, Muguruza's continuing the unfortunate pattern of no female player being able to sustain excellent play other than the Hulking Linebacker. I had hopes that she would knock off Williams again. . .

I was kind of hoping #7 seed Belinda Bencic would make some noise. Unfortunately she had to retire in her match today due to a wrist injury. She was also injured for the French Open. She is coached by the mother of Martina Hingis. I think she has a bright future, does have one victory over Ray Lewis Jr.

Wow! Muguruza crashes in the second round.

I watched her first round match against the Jew, Camilla Giorgi, and frankly she looked poor even though she scratched out a win. It's disappointing because now Ray Lewis has a great chance of equaling Steffi Graf's 22 major wins..

Djokovic is in huge trouble. He is two sets down (6-7, 1-6) to Sam Querry. Rain delay just as the second set ended. Djokovic looked totally befuddled in the latter part of the second set and seemed to be mentally somewhere else.

Well, Slammin' Sam Querry beat Djokovic in four sets. Djokovic apparently had regrouped after the overnight rain delay only to have another rain delay in the 3rd set with Djokovic up 4-0. Novak won that set but lost the 4th in a tie-breaker.

I don't think Djokovic was 100%. It was a bit disrespectful to the two time defending champ to put him out on Court 1 where there is no roof. This opens up the draw for someone else like Milos Raonic to go far.

Epic comeback win by Federer today after trailing Cilic by two sets. He's now in the semis and will face Raonic. Murray defeated Tsonga and plays Berdych in the other semi. With Djokovic out of the picture, this may be Roger's last, best chance to capture another Slam event.

The Williams sisters are both in the semis. Brutus plays an unseeded player, while the overachieving Venus plays Angelique Kerber, who played at a very high level in knocking off Halep. Kerber should be the favorite against Venus and if she does win is the main hope of derailing Brutus in the final, as she did at the Australian Open in January. A Williams sisters final would be unwatchabe as the media worshiping, especially the ongoing sentimental cooing over Venus's unexpected good showing in the tournament, would be off the charts.

The Russian, Elena Vesnina, must've laid an egg against Serena as it ended 6-2 6-0. Other than Azarenka all the Eastern Europeans seem intimidated by the linebacker. At least Angelique Kerber beat Venus 6-4 6-4. The German beat Serena in the Australian Open so she should have some confidence in the final.

That's good news about Kerber. I never envisioned Vesnina beating Ray Lewis Jr. I thought her opponent, Cibulkova, in the quarters would have been a better match-up. But she laid an egg against Vesnina. Hope Kerber serves well in the final.

Too bad Federer was eliminated in five sets by Raonic and his 140+ mph serve. Not sure who I want to win between Raonic and Murray. But of course will be rooting for Kerber to stymie the Linebacker in a Skirt in a final yet again.

I didn't watch much of it fortunately, as Brutus had her A-game and Kerber almost had hers, with Williams prevailing in straight sets. Brutus tied the great Steffi Graff's 22 grand slam titles, ironically besting another German, Kerber, to reach Graff's mark.

As long as the linebacker can continue to pound 125 mph first serves with accuracy, she will be very hard to beat.

Kerber played admirably but she is a late bloomer at 28 and likely doesn't have much shelf life left as a legitimate Slam contender. I also didn't like how submissive she was to Williams on the court; it will take someone with real mental toughness to beat Williams with any regularity until Father Time catches up to her.

Andy Murray knocks off Raonic (6-4 ,7-6, 7-6). Missed the entire 1st set and watch about 85% of the rest. Murray looked really good executing passing shots.

I was glad to see Andy Murray win another major title. He has been a little bit of a late bloomer but has proven that he
belongs up there in the top 3 or 4 current players on the tour. Murray he a fiery competitor. He reminds me a little bit
of John McEnroe from many years back although not near as mean. Haha. Congrats to Andy on a big win today.
