Why We Are Insane To Follow The NFL

If it weren't for fantasy football, I would absolutely pay no attention to the NFL. It is a complete joke, and not just because it is becoming all-black. The level of play is terrible, and the "affletes" are virtually all incredibly overpaid, arrogant and ignorant clowns, who deserve no one's respect or attention. This season has started off especially bad, which explains why I'm in such a grumpy mood. Just consider what has transpired so far, after two games:

Some of the worst teams in the league, at least when analyzed logically, are 2-0. The Redskins, 49ers, Texans and Packers just aren't any good, but they are somehow undefeated. The only 2-0 team I'm happy for are the Lions, because of Martz (and his slightly better treatment of whites), although this is offset by my loathing for moron Matt Millen. The Texans' start is really hard to swallow. Gary Kubiak and the Texans' organization treated David Carr terribly. Carr was never given a chance to succeed, never given any weapons on offense, and was forced to play behind the worst offensive line, year after year, in the league. Now, suddenly, this same inept group, which couldn't give Carr 2 seconds to throw, is protecting Matt Schaub like their grandmother, and the ridiculous Texans' offense looks great. Guess who will be mentioned early and often during the Texans' sudden turnaround? Poor, pathetic David Carr, standing on the Carolina sidelines (while the likes of Tavarious Jackson are starting QBs in this league).

White skill position players continue to be discriminated against. Matt Jones is barely used in Jacksonville (man, I wanted Joey Harrington and Atlanta to beat them, so they'd start 0-2), and white-hating David Garrard is entrenched at QB. Speaking of Harrington, he will almost certainly be replaced as QB very soon by Byron Leftwich. The Falcons had earlier reported they had no interest in Leftwich, but the media kept pushing the "makes perfect sense" line; they simply can't understand how the legendary Lefwich wasn't gobbled up quickly by some happy team. Kevin Curtis is starting for a suddenly anemic offense, and his every move will be scrutinized, with the clear intent to put him in his "place," i.e., the 3rd WR slot. Kevin Walter is a starter in name only, as Matt Schaub barely knows he's on the field, and the future HOFer Jacoby Jones is ready to "realize his potential." I read on a fantasy site that the Bears will cut Mike Hass if they decide to pick up "another player." In other words, the Fred Biletnikoff winner is the absolute last man on the squad, to be replaced as soon as needed (and with the injuries in this league, that won't be long). I'm sure this makes Hass even more confident than he already is, as he struts his stuff as the team's never-used 5th WR. The Vince Young love just continues to grow. Just as we must always root against the Jaguars, we must always root against the Titans- every win by the team, no matter how inept Young is, will be because of him. Already, I have heard the same line echoed over and over by several different commentators- "you can't judge him on his stats, his stats may never be great, but he does things on the field that win games." Supposed "tough guy" Mike Ditka is totally in love with Vince Young. He was drooling over him, in the presence of his esteemed fellow talking heads Keyshawn Johnson and Emmitt Smith, during ESPN's Sunday pregame coverage. Trust me, folks, Ditka will never be the guy to speak about against the Caste System. It's lovely to see a nice, worthy guy like Mike Nolan rewarded, ala St. Joe Gibbs, with two completely unimpressive and undeserved victories. Remember, this is the out-front white-hater who made that vicious comment about not fielding "lily white character guys." His ridiculous 49ers, led by the likes of hands-of-stone Darrell Jackson and 8-on-his-Wonderlic Frank Gore, were the talk of the league even before this season. I guess it was the "lily white" comment that got the jock-sniffers excited about them. Shocker they appear to be making those prognostications look good. Then there are the Steelers- led to a 2-0 record by their deserving black coach Mike Tomlin. If this continues, look for a lot of love here, too. Tomlin was probably the most absurd NFL head coaching hire of all time. The Caste System has a strong stake in making this classic Affirmative Action hire look good.

If this seems to be a rambling rant, it is. I just think we're all insane, and I'm especially insane, to support this sport any longer, in any way. There is nothing good about it, to me, from the drunk white fans to the jock- sniffing "journalists," the white-hating coaches and front office people and the odious thugs on the field.
Okay, now I feel better.

You pretty much nailed why the league is so popular. The games and teams are usually too close to call. There are a few standout teams, and a few bottom feeders, but most games, there is some suspense about who will win.

Does anyone else think the NFL has forgotten what football is about? From an outsider looking in, there seems to be a huge amount of focus on "big plays" and entertainment than actual quality football. Why is so much attention devoted to Chad Johnson's touchdown celebrations? I simply can't understand it - it doesn't even impact on the game. What other sport in the world would give this clown the airtime that he gets?

I was reading Eric Weddle's draft scouting report on NFL.com I think and aside from making the standard comments about his average athleticism, they went on to say he was "just a really good football player" as opposed to being a great athlete. You would think it would be better to stack a FOOTBALL team with really great FOOTBALL players. It seems to me that the NFL couldn't care less about the standard of football being played as long as it gets its top ten plays of the week.

Weddle is not an average athlete. He is above average in athletic ability. His athletic ability is not outstanding but this is just the way whites are treated. They have to be extremely athletic to get any praise from scouts or announcers.

The NFL has been no different in racial makeup since say 1990, I think it will pretty much remain like this, perhaps even get a little more white depending on what happens with the NFL conduct policy, Goodell doesn't take anyones BS.

Pretty much everyone in the NFL is a GREAT athlete (except maybe some fat defensive tackles Robert Traylor and Ted Washington type guys) so it is just pure racism when they say someone is just of average athleticism.

I will still follow the NFL just because it is the best brand of football you can watch (maybe next to college) I cannot sit down and watch an Arena league game or a CFL game with the weird rules. It's NFL and college football all the way, and I don't see this changing ever really.

Yes but is it just me or do many NFL players come from BYU? I am no statistic expert but many white players are from this college. This is just one of the few colleges that has alot of white players.

Weddle is from Utah, not BYU, but yes BYU does have a lot of white players in the NFL. Probably because of their "work ethic." BYU has enjoyed some national prominance and that is another reason they have put a lot of players in the NFL.

The NFL has changed quite a bit in the racial make-up of the starters, especially OL and DL since 1990, and it is getting even blacker. Edited by: Colonel_Reb

Very true. All defensive positions are blacker than they were 20 or so years ago. It's darker at quarterback too, and would bepredominantly so except for all the busts. Tight end is the only position where whites have held their own, though whites still dominate the all-important quarterback position even if there are more black starters.

I guess you could say whites have held their own at wide receiver, too, because Ricky Proehl was the only white starter in 1990. But when "holding your own" means maintaining a miniscule presence it doesn't mean much.Edited by: Don Wassall

I know that Weddle is from Utah. I am simply stating that BYU puts much larger amounts of whites into the NFL than any other college. There are even some DE and DT in recent years.

You are right, whiteathlete33. Rob Morris, Brett Keisel, and Chris Hoke are some recent defensive players who went to BYU.

This is off topic, but are Ivy League college football teams very black now?

Sorry I meant to say he considered by some to be an 'average athlete' because he is white. What I was getting at is the NFL should be selecting players on the ability to play their position, not on some meaningless 40 time, ala Chris Henry.

Based on my observations over the last 3 seasons, keeping stats on certain players and looking up info, the Ivy League is one of the whitest leagues/conferences in Division 1-AA. There are a couple of western conferences such as the Great West that has few blacks as well, but I think the Ivy League is probably the whitest in 1-AA.

While a few Ivy League teams only occasionally start whites at TB, WR, and DB, most start whites at those positions regularly. For instance, the 3rd and 4th leading rushers in the Ivy League last year were white, as were the 1st, 3rd, and 4th WRs. Also, the leader in INTs was a white Columbia SS, Andy Shalbrack.Edited by: Colonel_Reb

I think that coaches and scouts get way too caught up on potential and "upside" at the expense of proven football players who know how to play the game. I remember reading somewhere that that was one of Joe Paterno's recurring regrets. It doesn't help that blacks are automatically assumed to have more untapped potential while their white counterparts are overachieving. Edited by: jared

this is an excellent point, Jared. i often address this issue when speaking to people about the lack of whites at the collegiate level, which of course impacts the lack of whites in the NFL.

it is common knowledge that white kids mature physically later in life than blacks. i don't know why that is, but i couldn't care less. anyway, one would think that given how most all the top high school teams in EVERY STATE in the country are "white" teams, one would think that these less-physically-developed white kids which are destroying their much-more-physically-developed black counterparts would be the ones with the most "upside" or "potential."

it would seem obvious that if a less-physically-mature white kid can beat a black kid who is already in a man-sized body(aka, Lebron James and so forth), then when the white kid grows up he would beat the black kid even more. doesn't it?

thus the whole "blacks have more upside" argument really doesn't hold together very well, when it is looked at closely. just my two cents.

I have a very relevent theory on that subject. And being that you brought it up, I shall explain it the utmost detail. The drunken White fans are a strange breed to understand indeed. One minute they are praising the athleticism of the "affletes", and the next, they are using racial profanity. I kid you not, I've heard the same people who think blacks are athletically superior also make fun of them through racial slurs and off-color humor.

Maybe we here at Caste Football have been a bit "too harsh" and "critical" of the drunken White fans. Maybe, just maybe, deep down inside they actually enjoy watching a clown like "Ocho Cinco" (Chad Johnson) tapdance in the endzone and make an utter ass of himself. Similar to the Shakespearean Era, when a court jester or clown supplied entertainment for the nobility and wealthier classes. and everyone got a good laugh at their expense.

When I get depressed and start thinking about how sorry of a society we have become, the thought of this usually cheers my up a bit. We here at this site are dedicated to looking at the racial dynamics of sports from a "political" point of view, whereas the average drunken White fan just views it from an "entertainment" point of view, and doesn't care who runs the ball into the endzone just as long as one of the affletes does a little jig and makes them chuckle.

Speaking of getting a good laugh, Don, I think we are looooong overdue for an updated version of the Caste Football "Corporate Sports Report".
