Whites Need Not Apply
The 2006 NFL draft was another disappointment for those fans that believe capable white players should play at the professional level. Few white players were selected, about 24 percent, mostly in the later rounds so the vast majority will be cut without getting much of a chance. An additional anti-white surprise was the snubbing of Matt Leinhart one of the winningest and most polished QBs to come out of college since Peyton Manning. The teams that passed on this remarkable young man will come to regret it.
The single most glaring example of anti-white bias was reserved for Mike Hass. Hass, a wide receiver for Oregon State, was selected as the 2005 Fred Biletnikoff Award winner. This award is given annually to the player considered the best receiver in the college game. Hass starred at Oregon State for the past three years and led the nation in receiving last year. He has proven himself as a topnotch receiver playing in one of the nation's most highly regarded conference, the PAC-10, against defensive backs that will play in the NFL.
Had he been born with black skin he would have been one of the most highly sought after players in the draft, a potential number one pick. Unfortunately, due to his skin color he was selected 171st overall by New Orleans in the 6th round. His chances of playing, starting and starring are very slim.
Some past Biletnikoff Award winners and their overall draft selections: Braylon Edwards (3), Larry Fitzgerald (3), Charles Rogers (2), Josh Reed (36), Antonio Bryant (63), Troy Edwards (13), Randy Moss (21), Marcus Harris (31), Terry Glenn (7), Bobby Engram (52). All of them first or second round picks. All of them multi-millionaires. All of them given immediate opportunity to start. And all of course black.
This kind of racial disparity, were the races reversed, would result in lawsuits, civil rights protests, and all kinds of black anger that would be heartily supported by most whites. As it is, there is hardly a mention and nobody seems to notice or care.
How does the NFL get away with this? There is virtually no organization in the country that can not be successfully sued for racial discrimination against anyone, even white males. The city of Chicago was successfully sued for discrimination by white fire fighters as was the police department of Baltimore. If those two government entities, both with little sympathy for white men, can be successfully sued for damages and ordered to alter their anti-white hiring policies then it is curious how the NFL escapes the clutches of greedy trial lawyers. Perhaps the problem exists not in the law but in the minds of the people.
White athletes are caught between a rock and a hard place. The fan base approaches the race question as it relates to football in several ways. Most ignore it. The truth is too uncomfortable to acknowledge and when they are unavoidably confronted with it they go in to a state of denial or get angry. Those are the classic responses to situations one wishes to avoid because they know on some level they are responsible for the unfairness to white players and cannot bring themselves to admit it.
Also a good percentage of white people feel that it is okay to discriminate against other whites. To many of them not only is it okay, they encourage it. It is one of the strangest ways of thinking in the history of mankind. It is similar to those lemmings that suddenly all decide en masse to run off a cliff and kill themselves.
And many others simply unquestioningly accept the party line that blacks are vastly superior athletes to whites.
There are many millions of white people that act as if they are guilty of a great sin and it is necessary for them to pay off the debt by punishing themselves, other white people, and even their own children. It is the racial equivalent of original sin, with no messiah expected to arrive and cleanse away the stain. Thus the white athlete can never expect any sympathy from these people. Whatever unfairness and bigotry is directed at them is perfectly fine because they deserve it for the plain fact of being born white.
To the coaches and general managers that decide who gets drafted the issue is as follows. There are about 200 black football players each draft that are the best athletes available in the country. There are no whites playing anywhere in the country that rank with this group of blacks. It is up to the coaches to find them. They relish digging one of these specimens up that are hidden away in a Div. II school and not getting any publicity or attention.
Look at the Olympics they will say. Who wins all of the sprints? And the long jump? No whites to be found there. Is any other proof needed? This thinking is ironic because football coaches talk a lot about speed but if straight line speed was really so important then every half decent sprinter would be aggressively recruited by football teams and the Pro Football Hall of Fame would be filled with them. What sprinter wouldn't trade the shaky life of a professional runner, who is dependent season to season on sometimes meager income from shoe contracts, for the big bucks contract and signing bonus of an NFL player?
Of course the "speed" issue doesn't really matter. On those occasions when the white player has faster times than black players the focus then becomes something else. Loose hips, or quick twitch athleticism, or natural rhythm, or some such quality that makes blacks better athletes but cannot be quantified. There is no winning in this rigged game.
Sure there are a few white players that rack up some good statistics. But it is only because the team they played for was not able to locate and recruit the better black athlete to fill the position. Throw in a few injuries to the available pool of blacks, factor in limited scholarships, grade or legal problems, maybe some racial politics, and voila! You have a Mike Hass, or a David Anderson, white players that the team HAS to play and sometimes they have standout careers, despite being woefully inferior because of their race.
NFL coaches aren't fooled by statistics or production. They know talent when they see it, and talent has black skin. Hass? A fluke. Forget about him and move on to that Div. II black kid that should have had Hass's roster spot were it not for the injustice of modern day racism.
Thus blacks benefit from the thinking that they are victims of racism and should receive preferential treatment AND they benefit from the racist idea that they are ALL better athletes due to some connection to the jungles of Africa.
None of this could happen of course without the express permission of the white fan base. Many white fans like black players because they want their football players to be outrageous and scary. A white guy who looks like the kid next door or a buddy from work is not scary enough. It would be like having Cary Grant play Frankenstein. White players spoil the whole entertainment value of wanting to see primitive savages flailing away at each other.
White fans also enjoy the celebrating and hot-dogging that black athletes do nearly every play. It is like watching a tribal war party. A bunch of wild out-of-control natives dancing and whooping it up. It just doesn't look real enough if you add white guys to the mix.
So it really doesn't matter if the white player is as good or even better than the black player. White fans are the consumers of NFL and major college football. They want black players. Thus you have the "enlightened" beliefs of the modern day football fan and coach. The fans that have learned to hate themselves and place other people above their own and who enjoy watching the outrageous behavior of blacks.
As long as these types of assumptions underlie the conditions upon which football players are selected then white players will always be shuttled to the back of the bus.
