Whites Mostly Playing Lacrosse Now

White males have shifted from playing football to now playing lacrosse. It is less dangerous: Moms love this idea that their baby won't get hurt. There are hardly any blacks to deal with, and it gives the white boy hope a university scholarship.

With this I would expect white NFL player percentage to continue to go down.

What do you notice in your area?

Honestly disagree because of the (tragic) trend of white youth emulating blacks. Unfortunately lots of young white kids want to be like Lamar Jackson and Justin Jefferson now, many of their idols are black, they want to play like them. I think there’s going to be an uptick in white skill position players. Lot of our young guys in the league are coming in with fades and gold chains. Good and bad I guess.

There’s also a damn near white nba renaissance happening now.

The only way to confirm this is to go to the middle school and high school combines. Also, the college top prospect camps. As I was going through the recruiting process with my son, there were no white players in DB's groups or LB's and DL for that matter. Most of the white players at that time in 2008-12 were in the QB and OL groups. My son was a RB and always the only white one in the combines and prospect camps. Maybe one or two in WR's groups as he was a grade behind Braxton Berrios. Between he and Ryan Switzer and my son they were virtually the only white players in skill position groups.
Now this was 10-12 years ago unless something has changed, Only the good cy young may be on to something. Judging by the NFL Draft this year, it doesn't look like much has changed.
All these black players in the Combine have been doing this since they were 11-12 years old. More white players are going to have to participate early on, like 9,10, 11, and on to make any real noise!
As usual I hope I'm wrong.

My evidence is anecdotal from my high school/college age experience, which wasn’t long ago. I graduated in 2019. Lots of whites in skill positions at camps, but I will take it with a grain of salt being from predominantly white PNW

I thought I noticed an uptick in white prospects on sites like 247 but could be wrong

That's encouraging. I hope it continues!

While I graduated 20 years ago, my nephew just finished high school at the highest level in Wisconsin. The youngest athletes have no qualms about marketing themselves. While our team (suburban Milwaukee) routinely beat the sh*t out of the urban schools whenever they were unfortunate enough to play us and I had zero doubt I was the superior athlete, I see this mentality a lot more in todays athlete.

As someone stated earlier, it stems from having the “me first” attitude of blacks permeating into the young whites. Pros and cons, I suppose.

As someone who played high school and college lacrosse, nowhere big but I wasn’t too shabby, I know many great lacrosse players were also great football players. When I first started playing I remember being surprised seeing many of my favorite players were very accomplished high school football players as I was still under the hold of the caste system initially assuming since lacrosse players were almost all white they were “lesser” athletes than the blacks. If you were to scroll through the players top programs like Virginia, MD, ND, Duke, Hopkins, etc you will find in their bio many all-league and even all-state football players who, for some reason, have been overlooked by D1 football programs and hs “recruiting” services. Despite pretty much all these athletes are over 6’0 and play at big time elite high schools. I would go so far as to guarantee that many players on Duke, MD or VA etc would be better football players than the generic blacks who now make up those rosters

Anytime I played against a black, not often but it happened, they were never good. I am not embellishing I don’t mean most weren’t that good, I mean literally every single one was not good. No stick skills, very robotic movements, slow at cutting, hacking with their stick and not playing sound defense, etc. At first, due to the caste system, I thought they’d be the best player on the field but after a few times going against different blacks I just assumed they’d be bad, and that was the case

Our smallish HS feeds primarily into D2, D3 and NAIA schools for athletics.
