White running backs have to adjust to reality and change their game. Quickness is the name of the game today..adjust or die out. Fullbacks?, maybe 40 yrs ago, not today.
Sports, like people, always change..it is called evolution. Today's game called for Quickness, change of direction in a split of a moment. Whites can do that, but they are not train that way. Being 6 2 weighting 220, your trained to run over people. So you amass 5000 yds. Truthfully, that does not work at a D-1 college. Thats why they become LB and the dreaded FB.
I have followd white running back for alot of yrs, because I root for the underdog, regardlees of race.
The last great white running back was Staley of BYU. He had it all, but he was injury prone even in college. Think of a black conterpart in Cranell Williams of Auburn..where is he at? hint injuried. Career over.
Before Staley it was Craig James of SMU. Forget about Vardell and Muster, they were Fullbacks during the time the the FB was being phased out.
Go back to the old posts of CF and see where the tops white running backs are today. look at the high school white running backs cicra 2005.
I will still alway root for the underdog. The only white running back worth mentioning is Jake Sharp He plays the "Black Game". McGuffie, to young to tell. Gebhart, given the chance will play Baseball.
BTW, my 2 sons played running backs in a black HS I taught them to "juke" at a young age. Both were average and move beyond that enivorment, and I did too.
