White Purge 2010

I was just thinking, if I write up blurbs like this for all the cuts, it will look like an obituary page. This is the story of this great player's short life (in the NFL) etc.

Offensive skill players:

Kansas City: cut Lance Long. I'm surprised he was cut this fast, considering he actually PLAYED during the SEASON last year as the 3rd WR and played solid. It already looks like I was being too much of an optimist- as I never considered Long a fringe player- yet he's cut already.

Seattle: cut Kole Heckendorf. Mike Hass should have made this roster, not sure Heckendorf should have. We knew fake Christian, company prostitute Pete Carroll wasn't going to keep a white WR though.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins
 
Long getting cut really surprises me. He was hands down the Chiefs' best receiver down the stretch last year when he finally got some playing time due to injuries to black receivers ahead of him. Then again his success was probably just because of the system he was put in, and he can't possibly have any upside.Edited by: TorontoArgos
 
Yeah, I haven't looked up Long's exact stats recently, but I recall he had a few nice games late in the year showing "upside". He went from KC's 4th or 5th WR, to 3rd WR, to starter with "upside" late last year to cut.
 
Here is one that hurts. From Rotoworld:

Titans waived WR Bobby Sewall, P/K Ricky Schmitt, and DB Pete Ittersagen.

out Rob Bironas, and Ittersagen isn't a defensive asset. That about
sums it up.

White cornerbacks aren't allowed on regular season rosters no matter how athletic. Ittersagen is a freak of an athlete. Also Sewall is a very athletic white receiver. He got cut anyway. Check out his numbers.

4.41 and 4.43 40 time on Pro Day to go along with a 41 inch vertical.

So far the most disappointing cut in my book is Long. It was obvious Heckendorf, Hass, and some others weren't going to make their teams barring a miracle, but Long getting cut is very disappointing.

The writing was on the wall for Lance Long. He was inactive for the last four or five games last season, and got very little playing time this preseason, so it was expected. Jerheme Urban SHOULD make the team, but even that is dicey, considering that he didn't see action in the last preseason game until late in the 4th quarter, never a good sign. Since the Chiefs should be carrying 6 wideouts, Urban will probably make it, just barely. They are keeping Chris Chambers, Dwayne "alligator arms" Bowe, Dexter McCluster, Terrence "can't catch a cold" Copper, and Jeremy "affletic upside" Horne, and hopefully Jerheme Urban.

This is always a bittersweet time of the year for me. College football is starting up, but tons of more than worthy White athletes are being cut from NFL rosters.
 
Ittersagen and Long's cuts are most disappointing. Both are very talented, but Ittersagen or Steve Gregory were the only white men with a shot to be listed as CBs on rosters this year.

WA33, Sewall is a great athlete, but he played for a small Ivy League school and averaged only about 8 YPC last year in a real down senior year- and I think he never went over 1,000 yards in a season in his career, so I don't think he would necessarily be in the NFL if black anyway despite his amazing measurables.

If there's a bright side to this, I suppose it's that former Montana safety and sixth-round pick Shann Schillinger is a lock as a backup DB.

Peter Ittersagen because he was a CB...When exactly did coaches decide they no longer wanted white's at theCB position??? Late 80's/early 90's? Scott Case, Brian Davis, Stan Smagala...also John Mangum was a CB at Alabama then converted to safety by the Bears. ....besides Sehorn..these are the players I remember as a kid.

*Here's a clip of Smagala back in 88' playing for Notre Dame(back when white's were still allowed to play CB)...a 64 INT TD return vs Rodney Peete-USC... He was drafted by the Raiders then traded to Cowboys where he had knee issues; a step slower after surgery was converted to Safety

And yes...Eric Weddle &amp; Dustin Fox were CB's in college..but the NFL did not acknowledge that...

Weddle played multiple positions in college including quarterback, nickelback, cornerback, and strong safety. He's a very capable corner and I believe he shut Calvin Johnson down one game.
 
Brandon Renkart was cut by Tomlin's black supremacist Steelers team. He was an excellent LB for Rutgers a couple of years back. Since he also used to be a QB in high school, he was probably too smart for the LB position in Pittsburgh.
 
What are the chances that some of the White players ethnically cleansed during the TC purge get picked up by other teams?
Also, as the season goes on injuries mount..that could be a chance for guys to get on.
I recall Wes Welker was signed by Miami this way during his rookie year.
I think he was signed sometime after the regular season began due to an injury.

So our guys must stay positive and in shape and have the agents really badger the coaches and front office castophiles for a chance.
 
Yeah, it's the junkyard dog treatment.Some of the talented White players get kicked around the fringes of the league, going from team to team,and never get a legitimate opportunity to play in the regular season, while every now and then one gets "lucky" and is "allowed" to shine. But not making the 53 man roster is a deathknell for the careers of the vast majority of White players.

I recall Mangum playing corner for the Bears when there were injuries to starters. White corners started dieing out when the rules were changed in 78'. Edited by: white is right
 
It just occured to me that there are two times during an NFL season when we get to see white players perform more than any other instance.

One is during the pre-season, when all sorts of skill players get to play and for the most part, shine. This is when we get our hopes up only to be crushed a few weeks later when the majority of such players are cut from the 53-man rosters. The lucky ones get picked up by others teams or end up in practice squads, hoping for a chance to play in a regular season game

The second one comes during the later part of the regular season when injuries mount, and some of these white players get called up to the main rosters. And what happens to those lucky enough to get the opportunity? The usually play well, and their reward is that they may get an invitation to next year's training camp and fight for a roster spot. The affletes they replaced have little worry about losing their place, since most are on 10 year development plans and always end up on some roster because of their endless potential and upside.

When you see fossils like Joey Galloway, Chris Chambers, LT, etc, or scrubs like Ted Ginn, Mike Williams, Michael Jenkins, Byron Leftwich, and many others get chance after chance, year after year, you realize what a farce this league is.

Bears waived LBs Tim Shaw and Kevin Malast.

Shaw wasn't a factor on defense, but he was one of the league's premier special teamers last year. His release is a reminder that NFL teams take an "easy come, easy go" approach to special teamers. Malast was undrafted out of Rutgers in 2009.

Jets waived DL Ty Steinkuhler.

Steinkuhler signed with the Jets in 2009 after going undrafted out of Nebraska. He made plenty of plays in training camp practices but lost out in the numbers crunch.Edited by: backrow

Monty Beisel was released by Arizona. They may not have a single White defensive player on the team this year. Ken Whisenhunt continues that franchise's coal black tradition going back to Buddy Ryan. They're headed back down to their usual bottom feeder status, the only thing helping them is that they're in the weakest division in the league.
 
WTF? Biesel was listed as a starter in Arizona on some depth charts earlier in the preseason. Now he get's released.
