The ref stopped and saved Angulo further punishment in the 10th rd. The Canelo freight train is full steam ahead.

Angulo was a sponge but the stoppage was just. Beatings like he took today take a toll on a fighter later in life. There is no need for another potential Mago tragedy as El Pero was being shut out and it didn't look like he was capable or rallying.

Canelo is one hell of a fighter. He's ony 23 so he has plenty of years left in his career. Hell, he could be the best in the division for another 12 years. When Gayfeather retires, it's possible he could be considered the number 1 P4P guy. Gayfeather is just a very tough fighter to beat because he has that defense first style and doesn't get into any exchanges or take unnecessary risks.

Agree with above comments. Canelo was spectacular. Angulo is very tough. He wouldn't quit. Good stoppage. We don't want any more Mago tragedies.

Canelo looks much improved. I want to see a rematch with Mayweather - but not in Las Vegas where he is protected by all his gangster sponsors and in-house referees and hired judges etc etc, preferably in Guadalajara, but of course the punk would never agree to that.

Canelo vs Cotto should be epic, and no hype needed. I want Canelo naturally to win, however, I respect Cotto as the consummate sportsman. I feel Canelo's youth, power, quickness and size will wear down a smaller shop worn Cotto. The resurgence of him has been a bit of smoke and mirrors caper. He won the lineal middleweight championship from a very broken down Sergio Marquez, who had two injured knees. The bloke Geale he KO'd last June was a "never was." Cotto will be a HOFer. If he beats Canelo in any way, it will be unbelievable. I see Canelo stopping Cotto in the late rounds Saturday. Can't wait for Saturday night!

Tonight Canelo fights Cotto. I wager Canelo will win a 12 round decision as he's younger, bigger, stronger, an equal boxer, and has only lost to one very good boxer (Mayweather). Cotto is a boxer/puncher, so, all things considered more or less equal, the younger, bigger, taller usually wins.

Canelo should pound Cotto from pillar to post and make short work of him. He has everything on his side. Even though Cotto can be hurt he is hard to finish but I think Canelo has the firepower to do it in no more than five rounds.

Various boxing sites are making excuses as to why Canelo won. They say he weighed around 180 fight time and the size difference was the key!

So do latino/hispanic Mexicans root for Canelo like they do other "Mexican" fighters?

That was a great fight. I had Canelo 8 to 4 rds. He has become elite as well as a box office sensation. He said he will fight GGG, but at 155 lbs. I can see GGG agreeable to this. If he does, he better slowly lose the weight and not leave it in gym. I still have GGG winning, but I don't think it will be a walk in the park for him. Regarding last night's weight. I am pretty sure Canelo came into the ring close to 170 lbs. Cotto came in somewhere near 165 lbs.

Good win for Canelo but I find it ridiculous he wants to fight GGG only at 155 lbs.. last I checked 160 was the title weight!

Nice to see Canelo win and he should have. I'm just disappointed he didn't stop Cotto. I don't think he's is the power puncher he's made out to be. He looks like he is, but he isn't. Not really.

Canelo wants the size advantage and wants GGG to drain himself and come into the fight weak. We shall see. Like I said GGG may be agreeable, but at 157 not 155 lbs. No matter, if that fight happens off the charts. Canelo is making these demands because he knows he is the A-side to the match. GGG may have bow down to get the fight.

Makes sense Golden Boy will be pulling the strings. Can't wait for this fight to happen.

There is no way GGG should ever agree to a catch weight limit to fight for the middleweight championship. I can't see him agreeing to this limit as Alvarez seems to weigh on fight night at roughly the same weight as GGG does. I suspect GGG will get the vacated title and their eventual clash will be a non title affair at some point late in 2016 or the following year.

Ps the fight was a tactical affair with few fireworks less the exciting 8th round.

Cotto who has always been a noble warrior who has never publicly spewed sour grapes after his losses, silently took the loss in stride. If the fight was closer we could have seen similar outrage to Mayweather vs Chino I, but even with the scoring slightly off it was obvious that Canelo won this fight.

Cowardly Canelo gave up his WBC Middleweight belt rather than fight GGG. Anyone who says "but didn't he fight Mayweather" are ignoring that it's been a long time since Floyd was a knockout threat and he never was out to destroy, he was always a bullfighter who enjoyed making his opponents look foolish. Canelo had no fear of being hurt by Mayweather, but definitely knew he ran the risk of looking like a fool, and foolish he looked. GGG is far more dangerous than Canelo's pride being hurt, as he can literally scar Alvarez's inner psyche with a potential soul sucking beat down that might forever haunt the Mexican's confidence.
