The last major fight for a white boxer in March was a KO win for Arthur Abraham in an exciting fight. Not a bad way to finish the month!
Some of the best white boxers are scheduled to fight in April:
-
Steve Molitor defends his IBF super bantamweight title against his mandatory Fernando Beltran on Apr 5 (televised on TSN in Canada). Also on that date,
Felix Sturm defends his WBA middleweight title in Germany against an Australian challenger,
Jamie Pittman.
-
Joey Abell is scheduled to fight again on both April 11 and 26.
-
Oleg Platov is scheduled for April 12 against TBA, on the same card as the young cruiserweight
Marco Huck. The main event is a matchup of two excellent white super middleweights,
Sebastian Sylvester and former world titleholder
Javier Castillejo.
-
Clinton Woods also fights on Apr 12, defending his IBF light heavyweight title in Florida against Antonio Tarver (televised on Showtime).
-
Joe Calzaghe fights Hopkins on April 19 (televised on HBO), and
Adrian Diaconu fights for a WBC interim light heavyweight title on that date against an young, undefeated black fighter, Chris Henry. Former world titleholder
Tomas Adamek faces Jamaican O'Neil Bell on this date as well.
-
Denis Boytsov, with perhaps his toughest test to date, fights on Apr 26 against veteran Robert Hawkins (who went the distance with Sam Peter and David Tua a few years ago, and defeated Dominick Guinn and Terry Smith in 2007). On the same Universum card:
Sergiy Dzinziruk will defend his WBO light middleweight title against a white opponent,
Lukas Konecny, and
Zsolt Erdei will defend his WBO light heavyweight title against a black opponent, DeAndrey Abron.
It should be an interesting month!
