White Actors Used As Rihanna/Chris Brown

A well-known black singer beats the crap out of his entertainer black girlfriend, but an organization called dosomething.org uses white actors to portray them, in order to draw more attention to the problems of abusive relationships.

Now it goes without saying that white couples are sometimes involved in violent relationships too, but why use white actors to perform a reenactment of Chris Brown's crime?

There must be plenty of blacks out there looking to make a buck or two that doesn't involve criminal activity. Give them a chance to beat the crap out of each other, even if it only is acting.

Maybe the makers of the video thought that choosing relatively non-threatening, harmless looking people to portray the incident would let viewers focus solely on the act itself -- "this happened, then this happened..."

... Rather than making them focus instead that a black person acted in a really violent way toward another black person.

The producers were probably trying to avoid the inevitable accusations of "so, what, are you saying that black people in general are just violent, screeching thugs?" and simultaneously implying that white men are just as violent, so "let's not go picking on and singling out Chris Brown."

The black apologists and PC police therefore can't criticize the video for demeaning blacks, and racist whites don't get another black couple (fictional or not) to jeer at and call the N-word.

Having said all that, while I'm never a person who likes to hear about violence, especially towards women, I must say that I'm glad Chris Brown's girlfriend that he beat is (I say "is" and not "was" because apparently she's taken him back) a black girl.

At least Chris Brown then receives the full broadside from the media, feminist groups, etc. who condemn violence against women.

Had Rihanna been white, Chris Brown would have had a lot more defenders who claimed she faked it all, is lying, deserved it, or that people are only trying to persecute Chris Brown because he's black.

Let's switch it, though, and pretend some equivalent pop-culture douche like Justin Timberlake were revealed to be beating up his white girlfriend. He would be given the exact same criticism as Chris Brown.

However, had Timberlake's girlfriend been black, and he'd been beating her, he'd receive a lot more criticism from the media than Chris Brown would had his girlfriend been white.

we've discussed this at length in other threads, and you gentlemen are correct with your observations.


it has been thoroughly documented that television routinely changes the race of actors in order to prevent portraying blacks in a negative light. this happens ESPECIALLY in those shows who base their plots on "true life" situations. and it is even more noticeable when the real crime involved a black criminal and a white victim. in these cases, inevitably the races will be reversed so that whitey is the devil and blackie is just another example of the man holding him down.
