Welcome to the board, bjan. Ortiz is almost 29 years old, which surprised me.I thought he was younger. He was on the Twins for six years and had quite mediocre stats, no real power to speak of until his first year with the Red Sox last year.
If he's anything like the other one-dimensional, big, overweight black power hitters he'll soon be in swift decline. These guys are rarely effective past the age of 31 or 32 and when they lose it they lose it quickly. Ortiz reminds me of Mo Vaughn; he's built a lot like him. Vaughn had some really nice seasons with Boston, got a huge guaranteed contract with the Mets when he was 33 and was out of baseball the next year.
Jaxvid you're right that Ramierez is a real butcher in the field. There's more than a few baseball players who can hit homeruns but are terrible in the fundamentals of the game and have no interest in learning them.
