I just read an interesting book that first came out in 2009 on Larry Bird and Magic Johnson and their relationship and their careers.
I do not watch the NBA any more though I was a huge fan of the Celtics in the 80's and loved the Laker/Celtic rivalry of that period.
Bird was renowned as a serial trash talker. This is why I write this as hearing this story cracked me up.
Chuck Person a rookie forward for Seattle ( I think ) was shooting warm ups against the Celtics near Christmas time and Larry walks by him and says " I have got a present for you ". Person shrugs his shoulders and keeps shooting.
In the third quarter Larry runs up the floor with the ball by the Sonic's bench and turns to Person who was sitting and right as he shoots a 3 pointer he turns to Person before the ball hits its mark and says " Merry Fu***** Chritmas ". Swish. Person just shakes his head. Hilarious.

Yep he was Basketballs Muhammad Ali of trash talking and was recognized by the brothers as really starting the trend and being the funniest if not the most irritating (cracka cracking up the homies with smack talk).
The Chuck "The Rifle Man" Person episode occurred on X-mas day and was precipitated prior to the game by a quip from Chuck--"The Rifleman is Coming, and He’s Going Bird Hunting.” Classic Bird. Here's some more....
