Here is a list of potential guys that have a chance to go sub 10 within the next year or two.

1 Ramil Guliyev - In my opinion he is a sure thing but probably not until next season.

2 Tobias Unger - He has a descent chance but it either has to be this summer or next i.m.o.

3 Simone Collio - Same chance as Unger but he has to do it quickly do to his age.

4 Fabio Cerutti - I think Cerutti still has a good chance and he has around 5 good years left.

5 Craig Pickering - He still has a slight chance but only if he changes to a new coach and it will take him at least a year to get back to being competetive.

6 Christian Blum - He also has a slight chance but needs to get his explosive starts back hence his 6.56 p.b. indoors. He has around 6-7 good years left.

7 Martynas Jurgalas - He is only 22 and I like his stlyle. I give him a slight chance.

8 Julian Watrin - He is the youngest guy at 18.I'm going to put on this list for now. I could put quite a few youngsters but this kid in my opinion is heading for stardom.

9 Felix Gotl - A 19 year oldsprinter headed for stardom down the road.

Ramil Guliyev does it with ease. He'll break 20.00 in the 200 even easier.

I couldn't look past a fighting fit Ramil to be next.
He's young, he's fast, he comes from a poor country which may be a driver to work harder, but most of all he can identify personally with Lemaitre from their races in the past.
If I were him I'd be itching to race against Christophe whenever I had the chance because they have come through the ranks together and he has shown similar speed in top gear

I agree, Guliyev is next.
Not sure anyone else has a solid chance right now. But maybe Unger and Collio could with maximum wind on a perfect day.

Simone Collio next races this Wednesday in Italy. He would need perfect conditions but by the Euro Champs, he just might pull a miracle. Simone ran a wind legal 10.06 last summer. His coach knows how to get Simone to peak at the right time usually. My only complaint is that him and Cerutti have never really done well in the Worlds or Olympics.

Good luck to Simone in two days. He really deserves to run one before he retires. I would be so happy for the guy.

I think a healthy Guliyev will be the next to go under 10. I think you will see him go sub 20 before sub 10, but first he needs to be 100%

Guliyev would have to be the choice. As he just has to let his body mature a bit and he will dancing around a low 10.0X to a high 9.9X. The veterans will need a perfect race with a decent tailwind. I wish Trieste was still a major meet as a peaking Unger or either Italian could do it with altitude.

Guliyev! And I'd have to wager that he will do it multiple times before his career is up! I also think if Pickering changes his coach, gets his confidence back (and his back holds up) that he could run a few sub 10s in his career in ideal conditions.

You guys have a lot more faith in Guliyev than me. Granted it's been hard to get information about his recent races, but so far this year, the times he's run wouldn't even get him third place in a high school state championship. Last year, he was great. But this year, he's been slower than sh*t, and we saw what happened with Pickering when he started the season slow (He just got slower). I will happily jump back on the Guliyev bandwagon if he proves those early times were a fluke, but after the 10.7, I have no real expectations for him anymore. 10.7 is light years from sub-10.

My hunch is that Christophe will have the sub-10 field to himself for a while, but that Aaron Rouge-Serret has the best (long) shot of anyone to do it in the next couple of years. In the meanwhile, look beyond the 100 guys. This weekend, we've got Borlee and Wariner in the 400, and Wheating, Symmonds, Bram, and the Pole in the 800 (going against Kaka, who is certain to drag them all to great times). Those guys are a lot more exciting than any 100 meter runner not named LeMaitre.

We are making predictions for Wariner for his time. We can talk about all of these guys but we should try and do it under the 2010 Outdoor Season or it will get too confusing.

Kaka can run as he has the 3rd fastest 800 meters time ever. This should be some race. Like you said, hopefully the other guys will get pulled along for new personal bests. Nick Symonds has always been so fun to watch. He is a beast of a competitor. He won't back down from anyone. I'm looking forward to alot of the races. I wish Noga was going to be in Paris.

Ok. Now I'm doing it. We need to talk about these things under a different thead. Lol.

Ok guys. We are about to head into the heart of the outdoor track and field season. Christophe was the first white sprinter to go sub 10 but he won't be the last. I am going to make a very bold prediction. Jared Connaughton will be the next sprinter of european ancestry to do it. He is ready in my opinion. I said this back in the winter that he will break all of his personal bests this season. Just give him the right conditions and it will happen. You guys can hold me to it. Just remember, I predicted Christophe, and I was wrong about Pickering. Once JayConn gets it done, I will be 2 out of 3 in my bold predicitons of sub 10s. Lol. Wish I could make a wager on this at a casino. I'm sure i would get alot of money for a small bet! Let's get it done Jared!

I think it will be Ramil Guyliyev.
I believe he is racing at the Cezmi Cup in Turkey on June 11th.
I don't know what kind of shape he is in, but I think he is the next most talented, white sprinter after Lemaitre.

Guliyev is the safe pic. I would have possibly picked Emanuelle but he is in his 30's. Despite his consistancy, I think Father Time might just stop him and Simone Collio from acheivng a sub 10. I hope I'm wrong with these fine italians sprinters. Maybe Fabio Cerutti can return to form this summer. By the way, I still haven't given totally up on Pickering although I probably should. Injuries can stop any sprinter(examples like Leblanc and Crawford) from running at their peak levels. To run this fast is very physically stressful on the body. Even healthy it is hell on the body. If your injured, you just cannot give it your all. That has always been Craig Pickering's biggest problem and it has destroyed his confidence. Don't count him out just yet. Maybe in 2013.

I'm writing it down, white lightning! Seriously though, I hope we see multiple sub-10 White runners within the next few years.

Guliyev will need this whole year to regain his former from, after being inactive in all of last year. But, he definitely has the best sub-10 ceiling after Lemaitre.

Either German sprinters (Unger, Blum) have reasonable chances, although Blum is recovering from an injury shortened season.

As for Pickering, I hope his new training regimen gives him new found confidence and improvements.

I would love to see JayConn go sub 10, but I don't think it will happen this year. I think we will see him down around 10.05-09 range this year. The Italians are good for putting together 1 or 2 great races a season, but they lack consistency. Guliyev would have gone sub 10 already if his father didn't die. I think if the Rocket has got himself a good coach, and funding then you could see him do it this year.I believe we will only see 1 or 2 more guys do it over the next 5 years. We have to give it time to set into people heads that it can be done. that belief will slowly creep from eastern Europe to America and in 10-15 years you will start to see 100m finals that are more a 50-50 split racially. its coming, PePe started it and the guys right now are starting to think "Yes, I can do it". its when the little sprinters of today grow up knowing they are going to do it, then it will explode. there will be dozens of them, but for right now there is still a slight metal block.Edited by: albinosprint

Hey guys. I think we should post a potential list for white sprinters with the possibility to go sub 10 this summer. While no one is looking too close at the moment, all of these guys are far from their peak condition. This list would also be for the perfect race in warm weather with a maximum amount of legal wind behind them. It will still be fun to have a list. Here is mine.

2012 Possible Sub 10 List by European Sprinters.

1 Ramil Guliyev

2 Jason Smyth

3 Rytis Sakalakus

4 Marek Niit.

5 Jared Connaughton

6 Adam Gemelli

Other than Guliyev, all of these guys have a long ways to go but I went ahead and posted the list anyways.

its gotta be a healthy guliyev and i feel sakalauskas is a guy with all the tools , note how CL , ramil and rytas are all similar in build ... an outside bet is cerutti who definitely has the talent when injury free ... i also feel julian reus is the best of the germans .... and where is the ex purdue sprinter shane crawford..

sub 44

yo WL , props its a good list !!! no i am not trying to bribe you:tongue:.... but i reckon marek niit could be world class over the quarter .. having his basic speed and his propensity for pain over 400 including many relays this guy is a real potential diamond over 400, if only he would go to clyde hart ....niit is really one of the best all round sprinters there is out there at the moment , i mean he competes at in the 1 , 2, and 4 including relays .... for me it indicates absolutely huge 400 potential , and i mean into the 43 S :smokin::smokin:

Julian Reuss just like Christian Blum has alot of talent, but can he stay healthy. Both of these guys have run in the mid to high 6.50's range indoores. Now can it translate to outdoors. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of them.

It's a shame Robert Herring has also just about vanished after multiple injury riddled seasons as well.

It's not easy being a pro sprinter when your not doing p.e.d.s to help recover. Some guys can do it naturally and stay healthy while many others cannot. Their bodies break down. I give all of these kids credit for attempting to run in the sprints the way everyone should without taking drugs. If only it was a level playing field. We know it's not as the cheaters win the medals and make the most money.
