What Most Football Players Are Like

This is a second-hand story, but one the people on this Forum might want to hear. My brother used to teach at a upper-crust private school. A few years ago, at an alumni gathering, he met a former student who had played football(don't know how long or how much) at a major college.


He told my brother that the players were mostly "a bunch of thugs." He also said that the only way to get along with them was to "stand your ground and don't back down." I think this man played about a decade ago.

Absoloutely correct.


Blacks seek to intimidate first and get you to back down without a fight (bully-style).But, ifyou hold your ground, they will back off, but not before filling your face with profanity and not before making it look like they are doing you a favor by not following through on their threats. My brothers and I encountered this many, many times while growing up in a racially mixed environment.


My younger brother played college football (halfback) andspent afew years in both the CFL and NFL. His experiences as a kid served him well in those places. Some whites whohave never been around blacks find the act puzzling and tend to back down first, in part because they were taught to behave rationally or because they are afraid they will be charged with "racism."

I agree.They will never respect you if you do back down.
They may hate you but will respect you.I demand the
respect that I show other people.Athletes in particular
need to learn this at a young age.You don't have to be
a jerk but everyone needs a little Jeremy Shockey in
them to stand up and say,I'm not going to take it.You
have to fight for equal rights especially on the court
or playing field.

you guys are right about needing more white athletes and white men in general like jeremy shockey. rememer that game on monday night his rookie year (preseason) where he stiff armed , ran over and ran by opposing defenders all in one play. you could see his black teammates react on the sideline and go crazy when he did that play. crowd and the announcers were in a state of shock too. sometimes you can't blame black people for not respecting the courage or skills of the white athlete. look how pathetically weak and mild white men act like half the time. when black people watch movies like braveheart and gladiator, i wander what they think of the anglos today as compared to the anglo warriors back then? we are our own worse enemies sometimes, they are just taking advantage of the openings we have ceded over to them in the sportsworld.

It's important for us to be strong-willed and stand up for
ourselves, but I don't think there's anything wrong with being
"mild mannered" in the sense of displaying grace and decorum,
whether in sports or everyday life.

You are right JD and i see the point you are making. i guess i was referring to the incident where that one white guy was being asaulted in the pizza parlor by a large 290lb black man and no one lifted a hand. if it was the other way around and a black man was being assaulted by a white person, i think there would have been a different responce. incidents like that have nothing to do with grace and decorum although i admit he was a pretty scary dude to confront.

We're in agreement. There is a time and place to show
aggression. No question about that.

The instinct of self-preservation is also very strong and natural.
In the pizza parlor situation I think the appropriate response
would've been to look for a weapon- either something that you
already have like mace, or to pick up a chair or something.
