If Djokovic wins it he'll become the first player to win all nine ATP Masters 1000 events. He probably should've won it by now as he's been in the final about four times.
He's also got a good draw with both Murray and Nadal on the other side so he can only meet either in the final. Federer, last year's winner is also on the Murray/Nadal side. Del Potro will be Djokovic's main stumbling block.

Things should really start poppin’ here – as we move into the quarterfinals. Nadal and Federer will go at it. It looks like it’s getting harder and harder for Federer to play up the extraordinary level he exhibited for so many years. We’ll see what the defending champ can do against the streaking Nadal. Djokovic may be on a collision course with Martin Del Potro in a semi on the other side of the draw. I still don’t know if Djokovic has recovered from their grueling five set semifinal match at Wimbledon. Winner of Nadal – Fed will meet the winner of the Andy Murray – Tomas Berdych match. Good weekend of tennis ahead.
Isner defeats Djokovic. I've never seen the Serb hit the net so many times even when not being pressured. In the first set he looked tired and bored. Quiet Speed asks if Djokovic has got over the Wimbledon semi-final but I'm wondering if he's got over the French semi-final loss to Nadal. He said his year would revolve around the French so perhaps this is a hangover from that defeat. Del Potro, who has never won a Masters tournament, now has a great chance of making the final.

Roger Federer hung tough and played some exciting tennis in his three set loss to Nadal last night. It’s a positive he can take into the US Open. Nadal’s inside-out forehand may very well be the dominate shot in tennis at the moment. He can blast it from any depth on the court. Incredible how he can take the ball somewhere around the service line and below net level and disintegrate it for a winner.

Here's something not insignificant. Andy Murray has had disappointing results in the Rogers Cup and now this week. He lost to Ernests Gulbis in the 3rd round in Montreal and Berdych yesterday. A Wimbledon hangover?
Berdych played a very complete game, even out rallying Murray at times. Unfortunately, he can't seem to put several of such matches together - like in last year's US Open where he beat Federer then layed an egg in his semi-final match.
Federer was fantastic in the first set especially. It looked like the Federer of old. But it is almost as if Nadal has his number.
Based on current form I think Del Potro has to be considered a serious contender for the US Open title.
Nadal defeated Isner in the final. Nadal's now favourite to win the US Open and he's well ahead in the calendar year rankings so he'll probably finish the year as #1. Isner put in a good performance in Cincinnati with unlikely wins against Del Potro and Djokovic so he's now back in the top 20.
On the women's side Victoria Azarenka of Belarus defeated Serena Williams in a third set tie-treaker.:high5:
It's the second time this year she's beaten Serena so hopefully we are seeing a more confident Azarenka and not the woman who collapsed every time she faced the pride of Compton.

It was fantastic seeing Azarenka beat her in the third set tie-break like that!!! It had me worried more than once. I still cant believe S.W. still has so many fans. BSPN comments section are almost 90% her "fans" trying to console each other, saying she'll win the US Open most certainly, etc. I was appalled at how much of the 99% White crowd at the stadium were pro-Williams. How can anybody White pull for her? Oops, I meant in their right mind...hmmm, I just answered my own question!:bored:

The turnout for the tournament was very good. Glad to see the support. Also glad Isner did not shell out a dud and gave the fans a little suspense.
After that near disaster at the 2013 Australian Open where Azarenka nearly crumbled from a choke/panic attack against Sloan Stephens while leading, maybe she has cleared a major hurdle with her nerve issues.

Federer is having a late career resurgence. He has made four finals in a row. First he won on grass at Halle, Germany. Then he was beaten in the finals at Wimbledon and Toronto. Today he plays David Ferrer in the Western and Southern Open final in Ohio. His career has been truly extraordinary.

Federer won the Cincinnati open his first big title in two years,Only downside is Serena won the women's title so she's not quite done yet,Federer now has 80 career titles.
