They gave Wissman and Wariner lanes 1 and 2.It is very hard to win out of those lanes. The favorites are always in the middle of the track. It was very cold and it affected everyone with the exception of the guy from the US taking Flinstones.

Wariner has never run very good in the cold. Most sprinters don't anyway. He is so skinny that it really effects his performances.Jeremy ran a solid race to stay competetive with most of the other world class 200 meters guys.Nothing to hold his head down about. However, knowing Wariner,he will be very hard on himself as this season has not been up to par.He really wanted to set some new personal bests in the 200 and the 400.It is still around a month until the world champs so hopefully he will be ok.

400 - of course 'drug free' Tyson Gay ran away from everyone, clocking
19.78. Unbelievable time under the weather circumstances. However, the
other sub 20 sec Americans (Spearmon, Martin, Merrit) were barely ahead
of Wariner and they had center lanes. They're all supposed to be much
faster at 200. With a few more 200's and some good weather he'll run sub
20. I don't know if he any more 200's left for the season. Gay is on
another planet right now. Clean?

If you saw what Gay was built like in college you know something is up. He has gained 20 pounds of muscle since then. He had more of deuce or quarter body before. But I do think he was probably clean in college so the talent is there, but it's been "tweaked".

Gay has ballooned up nicely since college. I would bet my left nut its roids. he seems to be having a very Gatlin like year. out of the whole 19.xx crowd these days, I feel Spearmon my be the only clean one. as for Wariner, he was right there with the main pack.

Wariner is racing today in England. Some sort of Grand Prix meet. He's running the 400. That guy with the artificial legs is running in it also I think.

Anyone know anything about this meet?

From Track and Field News:
Tim Benjamin comes face-to-face with World and Olympic champion Jeremy Wariner a year after the pair last raced in London. This time they are joined by Commonwealth champion John Steffensen and Oscar Pistorius, the double-amputee world record holder for the 100m, 200m and 400m who finished runner up at the South African able-bodied national championships.

Wariner was a DNF. I don't know what happened yet. Pistorius was DQ'd, don't know why yet. For what it's worth Angelo Taylor won in a time of 45.25.

Hope Wariner isn't hurt.

Wariner slipped and almost fell out of the blocks. In very cold and wet conditions,he chose not to try and race after the near fall.It was a smart choice i.m.o.
He will have another couple of races before worlds to work on his form.

I'm not sure why Oscar was disqualified but I'm guessing he went outside his lane with the wet track.

I saw Gay doing an interview on BBC and he seemed quite genuine and non evasive about the drug rumours he has to deal with. I just don't believe he is clean because of the company he keeps and his bodies "maturing". When he was clean in college he had a neck like a bird. One thing he doesn't have the vacant stare and glowed over look Gatlin did whenever the topic of drug usage in his event. I swear Gatlin had the look of Jim Jones' Kool aid gang...

I thought this was interesting in regard to the power of influence. It's a TFN report from the Debrecen meet:

400M MEN FINAL

Denis Alekseyev (RUS) appears to model himself on Jeremy Wariner with goatee beard and sunglasses and looked as though he was going to produce a similar performance on the track. In the end, he won, but only by the proverbial hair's breadth from Croatia's Zeljko Vincek who was eating into the Russian's lead in the home straight. Both men were given the same time of 45.69, a PB for both men, but the photo finish showed clear daylight between the two. Secure in bronze was Poland's Kacper Kozlowski.
