You guys have today and tommorrow still to vote for Joe in the slam dunk competition and a little more than a week to vote for the all-stars. Joe was featured in a interview today on ESPN about his dunking prowess. He said if he gets voted in , he will win it and that he was the only competition for Dwight Howard. Unusual trash talk from a white guy and a rookie white guy at that.

i voted for Joe Alexander. if he gets to go he will have a great showing. Nate Robinson did all his dunks the last time he won it. if it were a missed dunk competition then Nate would win.

Rudy Gay is athletic but not very creative. He also seems to be sleep walking through this season.

So I would say that Dwight Howard and Joe Alexander are the two favorites.

I would love to see a Joe Alexander vs. Dwight Howard showdown.

Joe Alexander had 13 points (on 6 of 8 shooting) and 5 rebounds and five assists in 20 minutes tonight.

do they have a vote tally for the race?

or are they gonna pull it out of their ass which is something on an NBA specialty.

Last night was kind of a breakout game for Alexander. The Bucks are worth watching from a CF perspective. They have a pretty good center in Bogut, Point Guard Luke Ridnour is having a career year(top ten pg) and Alexander is a elite athlete and a star in the future. I would be kinda suprised if Joe doesn't win a entry into the dunk competition. He seems to have the best internet campaign going, his oreo cookie dunk is very funny to watch, the most serious dunk of a cookie into a glass of milk I have ever seen.LOL

What a great game by Joe Alexander. The Bucks are crazy for not playing him more. The only way to get better is to get some quality playing time. He is all over the floor with assists, points, and boards. He could be another Kirelenko type.

I love seeing the slam dunk video of him touching his nose on the rim. He says he has done it for years and people trip out on it. What incredible hops he has!

There is a trace rumor and the Grizzlies are trying to trade for Joe Alexander. I don't want it to happen. He is in a good spot with the Bucks as they are a very young team with alot of upside over the next few years where he should get significant playing time soon. I hope he makes the dunk contest and continues to see time with the Bucks lineup.

I am a Grizzlies fan and I would welcome Joe Alexander. Even though we have two other swing men in Rudy Gay and Hakim Warrick I am sure we can fit him in, and a small ball lineup would be deadly. OJ Mayo is a great shooting guard but a little short. Ramon Sessions is a little taller than Conley and that would help.

Hey, how about this run-and-gun lineup (for long stretches in a game): Kyle Lowry or Ramon Sessions, OJ Mayo, joe Alexander, Rudy Gay, Hakim Warrick.

Marc Gasol is a good center. Darko Milicic had some good games before getting hurt. with some more pieces things would be looking up for the Griz.

I don't get it, why is Joe Alexander being made to rot on the bench? He is one amazing athlete, if anyone just took a good look at him.

If he were just black, he would get minutes right away (think Tyrus Thomas of Chicago Bulls).

No matter how athletic (especially white) the player is, he will never get playing time, unless your Coach Don Nelson, Mike D'antoni, Jerry Sloan, or even Gregg Popovich.

Best of Luck to you Joe Alexander, let's pray he makes the Slam Dunk Contest. Vote!!!!

I just got a email flash from the NBA saying that Rudy Fernandez won the dunk vote and will be the fourth participant in the slam dunk contest. Westbrook was 2nd in the voting and Joe was third. I will be rooting for Rudy but Joe Alexander was who I was hoping for. They should let all three players in.

guest301, Oh man! You beat me to the punch, I was about to post that myself! Anyway, I agree, all 3 should be part of the Slam Dunk contest. Joe Alexander should have been the better choice. But best of Luck to Rudy Fernandez.

Sorry I beat you to the punch, j41181. Didn't mean to scoop you!

But it's all good. I was so looking forward to seeing Joe in the contest. There have been last minute injuries and late entries into the dunk off before, it could happen this year. I have little interest in seeing Nate Robinson again.

I don't understand this at all. While I've hardly followed this kind of nonsensical contest closely before, I have never heard of this voting process. Why were they only voting for one person? Who determined which players were invited?

I heard Joe Alexander being interviewed on a local radio show a few weeks back, and then saw him the next day on ESPN. He was basically begging to be allowed to participate in the contest. He obviously has the ability, and yet he's still denied the opportunity to compete. Much like he's inexplicably being denied the chance to play much in games by the team that drafted him high in the first round.

Oh, well, perhaps Alexander is waking up to the reality that is Don King's America. Seemingly every day there is a new reason to hate professional sports.

Because mexicans know that everything in life is for La Raza.(The Race). They will vote for any hispanic athlete as they are very rare in most sports except soccer, boxing and baseball. They wouldn't care if he could only do a layup. He would still have won. Look how the Asians vote for their guys. Blacks vote for their own. Only whites refuse to stick together on average and will vote against their own on a regular basis. Joe Alexander deserves to be there! What a joke!

Rudy Fernandez is a much better basketball player at this point in their relative careers, however despite the fact that Fernandez is an incredibly gifted athlete it is quite apparent that Joe Alexander is a much more impressive leaper/dunker. which is phenomenal in and of itself, considering Rudy's ability.

it is entirely possible that the NBA didn't want Alexander to show his stuff in the contest and upset the apple cart, as it were. after all, i don't recall seeing any public vote counts.

I would agree with that.

He is the only guy who could seriously contend with Dwight Howard or that midget Nate Robinson.

Rudy Gay probably doesn't have a chance.
Great game dunker. but he does the same dunks in contests.

It woulda killed them to have the original three plus the three other candidates?

how can you have too many dunks? Sorry Nate Rob, I said too many dunks, not too many missed dunks...

Joe Alexander was the best white dunker I have seen in years, I think part of the reason why he failed to get any recognition is...he is mostly sitting on the bench</span>. Most fans are extremely blind or unaware of his capability. He has little or no highlights to show for yet as an NBA player, as most drunk fans assume.

He's best dunks I have to admit date way back in his high school and college days, and they are only to be seen in YouTube</span>. But that's where the irony begins: Nate Robinson was a total unknown himself when he won it, Russell Westbrook is relatively not well known, due to the fact he plays for a crappy of a team.

Rudy Fernandez was chosen because Black Superman wants his revenge, the Inyo' Face DUNK</span> Rudy pinned on him during the Olympic Finals match. Now I get it.....DAMN!!!!

I pray Rudy can pull of a Brent Barry (as in win it), Go Rudy!!!!

As for Jumpin' Joe, he'll get another shot, you can't keep a good man down for too long, some sort of door will eventually open somehow for Jumpin' Joe.

Rudy is a terrific player, but he's not on Joe's level as a dunker. Joe is in the elite level when it comes to "elevating". I hope Rudy does well in the contest, but honestly, my expectations are not high for him. Joe would have wowed people. Maybe next year. Edited by: forty-four

There actually was a public vote count, JimmyC. Don't remember where I read this but Rudy got 150,000 votes to Westbrooks 122,000 and Joe got 105,000(20 my votes). Those are approximate numbers and I may be off by a few thousand.

We do have some hope for the future. After Chase Budinger gets drafted he could definitely be in some dunk contests. He is a terrific athlete as well and could possibly pull off a Brent Barry.

Again, I ask- what is the process for selecting players to participate in the dunk contest? Who determines who gets invited? Who deterimes who gets to be in the supplemental voting by fans?

Alexander's dunking abilities are obvious. If the drunk white fans aren't doing the initial selecting, then who is, and what reason could there be, other than race, to keep him out of the contest?

He's playing in Italy, AJ Milano</span> is the team, his numbers are below average: 4.1 ppg and 4.1 rpg.
