From September 17, 2007 Sports Illustrated, pages 10 & 12, no kidding:

"Vince Young directed Tennesse to the win, contributing 22 rushing yards to the team's total of 282."

"New England won 38-14 behind Tom Brady, who completed 22 of 28 passes for 297 yards and three touchdowns."

Pretty comparable performances don't you think? Vince Young directed Tennesse to the win by rushing for 22 yards??? Just as good as Brady's 22 for 28 for 3 touchdowns.

I'm going to approach my employer tomorrow morning, say about ten'ish in the break room, and broach the possibility of his perhaps giving me a 5 million dollar increase in salary based on my intangibles and potential greatness and the fact that I'm exciting.

What they don't say is that it took Vince Young 11 rushes to get those 22
yards. Tom Brady had 1 rush for 4 yards, so his yds./carry was twice as high
as Vince Young. Now that's a fair comparison!

Vince Young's game stats:

32 Vince Young TEN QB 11 18 61.1 18.0 78 4.3 78.0 0 1 5 27.8 21 1 0 1 47.9

11 of 18 for 78 yards. Passing rating of 47.9. 11 rushes for 22 yards. He did not direct the Titans to the win. At best, he did not cause them to lose.

SI should not have even mentioned his name in the game report. All other winning quarterbacks had better games.

Exactly! Last year when Rex Grossman put up similarly poor performances the Bears were said to have won in spite of him. Vince Young plays like crap and he "directs" the Titans to wins was all we heard last year and continuing on to this season. PATHETIC, but that is the way it will be until this guy strings about 6 years of bad play together or winds up in a police lineup, whichever comes first.

Wonder what Chris Brown thinks of Young getting all the pub, when it was Brown who rushed for 175 yards in that game, not Vince. Brown carried the Titans Sunday, not Wonderlic.

are we even having this conversation? i mean c'mon!

This from my fantasy football news:

QB Vince Young completed 11-of-18 passes for 78 yards and one interception in Week 1 against the Jaguars.

the truth
Impact: Young misfired on just about every pass that wasn't a dump off, totaled just 22 yards on 11 carries, threw just six passes after halftime and made several ill-advised jump-ball throws, including one that was picked off.

the PC BS
Despite that, all he does is win and Young helped salvage an otherwise awful fantasy day by punching it into the end zone from two yards out to put the Titans up for good in the third quarter.

How far can a team go with a QB who has a passer rating of 47? He's a bigger version of Vick; making his name on busted plays and blown coverages. Sooner or later you've got to know what you're doing at QB. If it gets to the point where a pathetic run first QB can win a superbowl title then I'm done with the NFL.

Here is an old Jason Whitlock column on Vince Young, written before the draft. He was a bit off in his prediction, but the rest of the article makes some good points:

Young not ready for prime time
