(from ESPN) Dan Rafael's remarks: Postol, 30, of Ukraine, and Aydin, 30, of Turkey, were fighting for the right to become the mandatory challenger for 140-pound world champion Danny Garcia, who might not stick around in the division long enough to ever face Postol, who won in resounding fashion. Garcia is probably headed to welterweight in the next fight or two, so that would mean Postol would fight for a vacant title.

Postol was impressive against the very experienced Aydin, who has been seen previously on American television in decision losses to Jesus Soto Karass and Robert Guerrero (in an interim welterweight title bout). Postol, however, was largely unknown but surely made an impression. He is huge for the junior welterweight division and was incredibly active. According to CompuBox punch statistics, Postol landed 395 of 1,105 punches (36 percent) while Aydin landed just 118 of 393 (30 percent).

Other than knocking Postol into the ropes in the first round, Aydin was outclassed in a one-sided mugging. Postol was throwing and landing so many more punches than Aydin that it was a very easy fight to score. But those scorecards turned out to be unnecessary.

Moments after referee Raul Caiz Jr. docked a point from Aydin for hitting behind the head, Postol crushed him with a right uppercut that dropped Aydin like a sack of rocks. His head bounced off the canvas and Caiz immediately waved off the fight at 2 minutes, 52 seconds. It was a very impressive performance from Postol, whose previous notable victory came in March 2013 in Ukraine, where he won a 12-round unanimous decision against contender Hank Lundy of Philadelphia.

Aydin, who lost to Soto Karass and Guerrero in back-to-back fights, had won three fights in a row, a streak that came to a crashing halt.

Max Kellerman repeatedly gave no credit to Postol and all the credit to his recent training, but I've been watching Postol for years and he's always fought like that. The only difference was that he looked a bit nervous in the first couple of rounds.

He doesn't have great power, but his volume of solid punches gradually break down and weaken his opponents. His opponents who have lasted the distance look in bad shape in the late rounds.

I thought he bears a striking resemblance to Vlad Klitscho. I'm sure the broadcast team noticed it, but not a word. They acted like they were under orders not to mention the K brothers. If so, how petty.

If I handled a fighter, I would be slow to have him work in front of a Mexican crowd. They are just plain rude and ignorant toward fighters who aren't of their own. They were whistling and booing and jeering throughout the fight. Granted, there were slow stretches, as in many fights, but the Mexicans kept at the derision even when Postol was throwing 100 punches a round. Unless the fight was very important and for a lot of money, I would steer clear of Mexican crowds. They got no respect.

That's a great win by Postol. Definitely a boxer to keep an eye on. After 2 decision losses, and now this TKO loss, it seems like Aydin has declined substantially from his form a few years back. Full credit to Postol for the win. Aydin looks like he needs to take a break and reassess his boxing career.

He fights a lot like Klitschko in which he keeps his distance and uses the jab to break his opponent down. Postol fought an overall smart fight using his height to his advantage. Don't mind those Mexican fans. All they wanna see is two of their own fighters exchanging blows and don't really appreciate anything else. I guess that is what they got in the main event.

Viktor Postol could possibly fight Danny Garcia pretty soon. I think he's got a lot of potential. He recently sparred with Pacquiao to help prepare him for his fight against Algieri. He's good but I don't think he'll be winning over the hearts of the DWFs or jews anytime soon because of his style. It's quite funny how whenever a white fighter wins a decision or late knockout with a not so crowd pleasing style they're "boring and robotic" but if fighters like Gayweather or Flopkins win the same way everyone reacts like either of them had just found a cure for cancer.

After being avoided by Garcia for a year, Postol is getting his title shot on HBO this Saturday against Lucas Matthysse.

I believe that Postol will win several rounds, maybe be head at round 8 or 9, then the "Machine" takes over. Lucas will grind him down with a late TKO. Postol wins if all the wars with Lucas has an effect on him tomorrow night. Should be an intriguing fight. Looking forward to it.

Postol will have to hurt Matthysse early to get his respect,so he can fight his fight from the outside.Other wise it could be a rought night for Postol. The best way to watch a hbo fight is with the sound off, you can judge the fight for yourself without the bias commentary.

Im a fan of both Postol and Matthysse and they're both white, so its great for whoever wins. I just hope for a fair and clean fight. Postol is coming off a good winning streak and will have a size advantage in the fight, Matthysse is a huge puncher with great offensive skills but is there to be outboxed. This is a significant win for the winner and he should be rated highly P4P. One piece of advice to Postol: Keep you distance, pop the jab, dont let Matthysse get inside, and dont brawl.

The way Garcia avoided his mandatory Postol with the approval of the WBC (thanks to Haymon) was despicable. His promoter Arum didn't stick up for him, because he's white.

Postol is receiving just $90,000 for tonight's fight, after waiting a year and a half for his title shot.

He moves constantly and wears his opponent down with his volume of punches. I wonder why Ali was the greatest since he used clinching and rabbit punches in almost all his fights. Dundee even cut his glove in the Henery Cooper fight so they could have extra time for Ali to recover. All boxers hold they are taught to hold to recover from a punch or to stop the momentum of his opponent. SCREW HBO.

Best line ever.......:becky: I thought Postol took the puncher's heart away and made him quit. The los for Mattyse reminded me of Juan Roldan's surrendering in the 80's in big title fights. Postol can make some noise in the division and could have a PPV fight against Broner if Al Haymon is willing to pay Postol real money.
