John McEnroe used a phrase to describe Sloane Stephens’ erratic play against Serena Williams that I may borrow often. He said she was relying too much on her athletic ability. Every time a black quarterback sucks or some wondrous defensive player misses a tackle it would be an opportune time to utilize the phrase. I think I’ll try it out on some DWFs in the upcoming weeks. It might blow their mind.:lol:

Murray trailing two sets to love against Stan Wawrinka, and down a break in the third, is going to need a monumental effort or a Wawrinka choke to make it to the semi-finals. So far though Nadal looks like he's completely unbeatable in this tournament.

I have no doubt Serena is on steroids, looking at her physique she has to be.She has been around a long time now aswell as she first won the US open in 1999.To put that in perspective that was the same year Tiger Woods won his second major, remarkable longevity for a tennis player which convinces me even more that she's on PED's.The Williams sisters domination of tennis has never greatly bothered me though,it would have been far worse if the Williams were two brothers as mens sport is still the ultimate in athletic performance. Its why womens sport from soccer, basketball to boxing is still minute with little fan appeal.Serena would struggle to win a single point against the top men.

Nadals recovery from numerous knee injuries is remarkable.Thats an ATG if ever there was one.

Nadal defeated Djokovic in four sets to take his second US Open title. Djokovic was outplaying him from the second set until near the end of the third set yet through sheer tenacity Nadal managed to somehow take the third despite being on the ropes for most of it. In doing so he broke Djokovic's will. If his knees hold up Nadal has a serious chance of catching Federer's total of 17 grand slams - Nadal now has 13.

Alas, most Americans will not have witnessed this match which involved some of the best shot making and athleticism ever seen on a tennis court. Part of the blame goes to the USTA for their ridiculous decision to play on a Monday at 5pm (2pm on the west coast on a work day!) but also because most Americans would rather cheer on Michael Vick and RG3 in the National Felons League.

Although the men’s final lacked a nail biting ending, there were many things to appreciate in the match. The 53 stroke rally drew a standing O from the crowd. I thought during the match how anyone can think that White men are second to anyone athletically must be ignorant.

The Bryan brothers having won the other three majors in 2013 missed out on winning the Grand Slam in men’s doubles with their loss in the semis. A Grand Slam in doubles hasn’t been accomplished in eons. They also won the Olympic Gold Medal so that would have given them a Golden Slam. Too bad, US men’s tennis could use a little injection of hoopla from any front.

Djokovic vs. Nadal is by far the best rivalry in the game now. Federer's first serve is pretty much gone due to his never ending back problems and the toll the hard courts take on anyone's body after so many years and on the tour.

The Final was another classic (I heard) of back and forth up through three sets and Nadal killed him in the fourth. It was a match I was not able to watch for the reasons you stated. The timing of CBS putting it on a Monday at that time slot was crazy. Note to CBS: Move it back to Sunday and move the Women's Final back to Saturday.

It is encouraging that the best Men's players are of European descent and most of the Women's side is too, except of course for the well-known exception.
