Nice list, W.I.R. Didn't realize Trent Richardson, who fat Walrus picked 3rd overall to replace Peyton Hillis as a starter in Cleveland, had fallen to such depths? As I remember, he "busted" so bad in the spring leagues, that he was likely forced to go to Mexico or overseas and play for peanuts. Probably wasn't even good enough to play semipro in the U.S., by the age of 30?
Speaking of spring league candidates, here's a good one down the road: Odell Beckham Jr. is desperately trying to get back into the NFL. Was cut back in 2024, after averaging only 6.1 yards per reception. Beckham would look great in a Louisville Kings clown suit (uniform), don't you think?
And, for whatever reason (perhaps due to Rodent Nagy?), Jack Harbaugh Jr. is listening to his comeback "pitch"?
One last point on the UFL:
Last summer I composed a list of rookie free agent signing bonuses and guaranteed money. Quite a few didn't make the NFL and could've been candidates for the UFL. Of the players at "Caste Positions", below is a small list of players that were selected by the spring league. Only Hudson Clark and Nick Kubitz are playing. Not sure if the other players refused to play or were simply cut? Some might've held out hope for another NFL chance -- street free agent?
Birmingham
LB Stone Blanton Mississippi State
DT James Carpenter Indiana
FS Hudson Clark Arkansas
Columbus
WR Landon Parker Troy
DE Maxwell Van Fleet Cornell
LB Matt Jones Baylor (Dallas)
LB Nick Kubitz North Dakota State (Louisville)
