It was originally supposed to be Sandhagen Vs. Dillashaw but Dillashaw was injured and for some reason they could not find a replacement for him. The Bellator card today may be more interesting for some.

Yeah it's often the case that the prelims get loaded with asian fighters, though not so much here, bizarre but I think its because they want one to break through to appeal to the asian market, as for the blacks, if most black Americans just won't do they just get blacks straight from Africa.

I actually came across the posts of a user by the name of "Jack Reacher" who said he knew someone personally who was employed for a major media company who told him that the UFC was told to be more "minority friendly like boxing" when on the hunt for network deals, by ignoring/putting a cap on the amount and recruitment of white champs and contenders, indeed, it's unlikely the UFC's weak HW division is the peak of HW talent, for instance.

He could be wrong but I think there is a kernel of truth there.

Years ago the UFC tried to bring in Japanese fighters from the bankrupt Pride promotion and the results were awful. The Japanese fighters were tossed around like rag dolls because the UFC minimum was 155 at the time and championship level guys like Gomi had to spot too much size to UFC fighters at 155.

So this movement is nothing new, also the UFC wanted to break out of their small fly over state base when it was semi underground so they reached out to obvious frauds like the late Kimbo Slice. Similar to boxing if a guy can't fight he can't fight no matter how much polish you give him.
