Not that a whole lot of people care about watching "the tattoo" pretend to fight against a no account, but I thought someone else besides me might like to make light of the situation that these "men" will find themselves in on June 11. I know I won't be buying the pay per view for that one.

Didn't Tyson pick another white, semi-retired club fighter as his
opponent when he returned to boxing a few years ago? Anybody remember
who that guy was and how long ago?



It may just be me but I'm having deja vu right now, because I think the guy's name was something like McBride!



EDIT: Disregard, I found him. It was Peter MCNEELY, not MCBRIDE.
August 19, 1995, I believe McNeely was Tyson's first opponent upon his
release from prison.



What's with Tyson and the poor, broke and old Irish club
fighters anyway? Geez. Aren't there any poor, broke, and old black
fighters out there? Wait a sec.. isn't Riddick Bowe boxing again?

Still cant get your eyes of Tyson right ?. This proves my point about some fighters being able to draw a crowd whoeverthey fight and some fighters who dont have the Charisma to do so.

Another thing you don't understand about white people is we believe in fighting hard even when the odds are against us-as opposed to only fighting when you know you have the advantage in size, skills, and/or five of your buddies to back you up. We'll wipe the blood out of our eyes to keep on fighting, if we can make it a contest of guts, we'll usually beat anyone else. That's how big barely-trained farm boy Jess Willard defeated Jack Johnson. (Today the fight wouldn't have gone on that long, would've been stopped because of Willard's bleeding *shrug*) That's why the Braddock you want to defame (can't stand even dead white boxers getting acclaim, aye?) is a hero to us. If there were still whites men fighting not for fame or a big paycheck, but to feed their kids like Braddock had to, I suspect we'd run the blacks out of every division.

Dog McBridge for being a chump, but IMO it makes Tyson even more
despricable and less of a man that he is fighting someone so far
below his own talent level. White_Savage makes an excellent point
about fighting with grit and guts, which probably explains the answer
to the question I had earlier - where are the bottom-of-the-rung black
fighters willing to fight Tyson for a paycheck? Answer: THERE AREN'T
ANY. None of them have the courage or the heart to get in the
ring, even with an old has-been like Tyson. Funny, black men like
Spinks and Michael Grant get in the ring with Tyson and freeze up, big
deer-caught-in-the-headlights looks on their faces, but even tomato can
club WHITE fighters like McBridge and McNeeley will get in the ring and
FIGHT.

Blacks when given the chance have always done well in boxing


From bareknuckle days fighters like Tom Molineaux who came close to being thefirst black world Champion and Bill Richmond till today.

Bart, I think the Negro Leaguers could beat up at least 12 guys each, so, nice try pugnus, but you'll have to do better than that to beat the men of the Negro Leagues!

White_Savage, you know those Ninjas aren't very good at fighting in groups of less than 50 against one person. You should know this by now because of countless TV shows and movies. Looks like the Negro Leaguers win again!

Once again you willfully miss the point. Also, I never of course denied that blacks have certain advantages in the ring, long arms and hard heads, though as I have proved, the genetics can't be the entire answer because of the success of spanish-indian halfbreeds in the sport.

But during the same period blacks were taking over boxing, the last major waves of poor immigrants from Europe were ebbing. The white urban populace was elevating themselves out of the social conditions that boxers come from. Here's something that's fairly telling. Ask any random group of whites if they've done any boxing. Not one in twenty or more will have. Now ask any random group of blacks, at least half of them will say yes, and three quarters in many areas. So there's a huge difference in how many whites vrs. blacks ever try their hand at boxing and get the training to see if they have natural potential.

Now Eastern Europe is putting white boxers out there again, boxers who may be even hungrier than Westernized blacks, so you see competitive whites in the ring again. It's that simple.

Or do you think that Eastern Europeans are some kind of seperate race of "super-boxers" too?

BTW guys, on a serious note, the grim realities of multiple attacker scenarios in the real world is what makes me question ALL tales of someone fighting off ten or so other guys. It's hard enough to actually fight off two moderately competent attackers, much less ten, and the sort of "hit and run" strategy nessecary would be difficult to enact in a hotel room. It seems likely to me that Jack at most knocked one or two of them out and the rest decided they had a pressing appointment somewhere, as has been known to happen occasionally.

IMO, it speaks worse of Tyson to make such fights than for McBride and others like him to take them.



You question Vitali over and over again about who he has fought, who
has he beaten? I ask you, what will beating up McBride prove about
Tyson? Will or should Tyson catapult to #1 contender after beating
McBride?



You lament the ascension in the rankings of white boxers who haven't
'fought anybody', yet Tyson hasn't beaten a notable opponent in years,
yet is continuously ranked in the top 10 by all of boxings sanctioning
bodies? Is this an example of what "charisma" will do for you in
the world of modern boxing?
