hm... I'm not sure about this guy. I've only seen this fight and one other on Youtube, and he isn't all that impressive. Wide punches, eats a lot of shots..

Objectively speaking, does he have enough to even beat Rahman?

I like Fields. I have seen a few clips of him on youtube. he is a very imposing figure physically with his size that is for sure. However when he punches (from the limited exposure I have had of him) he tends to leave himself wide open. I think he can definitely make a run but I just cannot see him beating a elite fighter like Wlad. Wlad would catch him with straight rights at will and in my opinion would knock him out highlight reel style. That being said, from what I have read his cardio is impeccable and he throws and throws non-stop during his fights without tiring. A man that size has to hit hard just based on the fact that he looks to be a very solid 275. I think he would beat many of the heavyweights in the top 20. He would beat in my opinion the Monte Barets, the Dominic Guins, and quite possibly Rahman. He's had a whole lot of fights now and needs to fight someone that is known. Edited by: aussieaussie31

If he were younger and possibly even at 33 . If he could learn to consistent deliver sharp straight punches. Which he does on occasion I think he could be a top ten heavy weight. Hopefully if he gets better fighter to fight Fields will start doing this. If he could develop better balance atop five or top three. He has the height weight and reach on every one except Valuev and Vitali if he ever does comeback. His endurance is superb and he has a long dragging beard. If he could improve is offensive accuracy he could be very tough

Fields biggest problem is balance. He has good power, the best stamina of any Heavyweight I've watched. He's not very fast, but his volume of punches somewhat makes up for that (at least so far). I really think he can beat Rahman. I also think he could beat Peter (McCline almost did, and Fields is better than McCline), but he would probably go down just due to his lack of balance. That being said, Tye is a pretty good fighter, and has a legitimate shot in the heavyweight division.

Tye Fields is now scheduled to fight Monte Barrett on June 28 in Las Vegas, on the PPV event with Manny Pacquiao vs. David Diaz.

Good! A good step up fight against a name (but not too dangerous) opponent. I wonder how Rahman backed out of this one?

There IS a lot of hate and ridicule for Tye Fields at boxingscene.

They joke about his padded record, but at least he's fought a few decent "C" level journeymen. Check Donnell Holmes record: he's fought nothing but "D" level tomato cans.

They ridicule Tye Fields because he's white. There's at least 20 regulars at boxingscene who daily discredit white fighters. Some of them are black or of mixed race, but surprisingly some of them are "wiggers" - white guys who want to be black and practically worship black fighters.

They seem to hate Tye more than any other (white) fighter.

Tye is indeed America's best current heavyweight. He KO'd former champ Bruce Seldon, will KO former title challenger (less than 2 years ago) Monte Barrett, and beat decent journeymen such as Ed Mahone, Kendrick Releford, Maurice Harris and Sherman Williams.

He is 6'9, 270lbs and 41-1 with 37 KOs.

Ty Fields is a good fighter but not a great one. He wont be able to compete with Klitschko, Ibragimov, Chagaev, Dimitrenko, Povetkin, or Valuev. He is a B level fighter with decent skills but not enough to get him a title. I am looking forward to kim destroying Monte Barrett however.

I watched Fields last fight. He appeared leaner than I had ever seen him and his skill level was higher. He was throwing much sharper and much more accurate punches. He also seemed be able to maintain his balance better. It would be interesting to see him fight better competition. It is difficult to improve if your competition is not challenging.

Ty Fields just made Monte Barrett look like Jack Dempsey. He was flattened in 57 seconds. Of course the media will bury him after this loss....

Minto, Mollo, Mesi, Kaufman, Chapman, Grano and Richards are the best white American heavyweights. I don't spot a future champ among them but you never know. Grano was an amateur champ but seems undersized.

Well it had to happean. This Ty Fields who some members thought was great is a fruad. He got KO'd by a washed up Monte Barrett.

Please, lets just put this thread into garbage can. This Fields guy reminds me of the great white loser Duane Bobick.
