Wouldn't it be something if both Smith and Hillis have big years! Playing on Southern teams would give it even more impact. Let's hope they get the opportunity they deserve.

Yeah, two Southern teams who had to go out and get the "great black running back" in the 70's in order to compete, are now saying that these whites are their best runners. I see a bit of irony in that. Don't ya'll?

They keep saying "Down with whitey",until they need
a white man to help them win games.Ironic is the word
of the day. These guys need to take this opportunity and
run with it.Pave the way for future running backs.

I think these guys realize their position as what it is, even if we never hear about it, and I think they will do their best because of this. It is my sincere hope that they realize what an important role they are in, because much of the future of sports depends on it. If we don't have some high profile white running stars soon, I'm afraid eventually all coaches and most white athletes will give up on the idea and quit trying. I don't see political correctness and anti-white bigotry slowing down anytime soon. I hope I will be proved wrong, and I hope it happens this season. We'll just have to see.

I know this is a repeat, but since Tre is high profile, and we have two threads for him, its a good idea to include it here.

Reading in Lindy's magazine, they have quite a bit on Tre concerning this upcoming year. It says he played a significant role in 02 and 03, but must prove he can handle a starting role. Under the offensive scouting report, they have him listed as the starting RB, and say that he is tough, experienced, but limited by size. Might have known that one was coming.

He is listed at 5-10, 200 pounds. I don't think that's too small. There were plenty of quick black backs who were smaller than him, and the only talk you heard about them was that they could slip through a defense easily. They have Auburn picked at 17 to begin the season. Under bad news, its says the backfield goes from one of the nations best, to the bottom half of the SEC. We'll see about that.

By the way, Tre's blocking back will be Jake Slaughter, a white FB from Brentwood Academy in Tennessee.

Under the heading, comeback backs, they have a great picture of Tre running the ball and they say, "he has had his moments, including 126 yards against Alabama in 2002, but it'll be a whole different ballgame as he becomes the feature back." I think Tre will do great if he stays healthy. That's all I have on Tre for now.

Didn't Kentucky have an outstanding white running
back/return man a couple of seasons ago. I think he broke some
punt return records.

That was Derek Abney. He was a receiver and a return man. He did break several records, and hopefully he will get to play quite a bit in the NFL.

Tre Smith will be the main man at Auburn this season.
Waiting for a couple of years to finally get his chance
at running back had to be hard.I really think he will
explode onto the nat'l scene and catch alot of people
by suprise. This kid is lightning fast with moves to go
with it.He has been excellent in the limited chances
he has carried the ball.Smith also has a knack for
scoring touchdowns. He loves the endzone.I will be
watching the Tigers play alot this year.Go Tre!

I hope that Auburn is televised nationally some this year, otherwise I won't be able to watch them. I don't think they air the JP games out west.
