I don't know, but I agree with you. There seems to be a growing trend in the last few years of umpires that are not only going out of their way to inject themselves into the outcome of the game instead of being invisible, but also of umpires baiting players and coaches. I don't know why. Maybe MLB is worried about getting a thug identity like the NFL and NBA. Maybe they think with their desire to pump the league full of hot tempered Latin American players and crazy negro ghetto ones like Nyjer Morgan that they need to set a precedent about discipline. Sometimes it is hard to know everything that is being said on the field, but maybe the players are crossing the lines with greater frequency and umps are simply starting to lose it. Maybe there are growing problems between MLB and the WUA that isn't completely being brought to light and the umps are taking their frustrations out during the games. Edited by: Bear Backer
