Schwarzenegger is acting out "The Republican Syndrome" I described in another thread. He should have made a decision over a week ago. He insisted on a media event dog and pony show on Thursday, which he didn't do on two prior occasions about a death sentence. This signaled that Tookie is Very Important, increasing media attention and potential trouble.

The longer Arnold drags this out, the worse it is for all concerned. Maybe he's going to commute the sentence at the last minute "like in the movies."

I think he'll grant him clemency. Easy to do and avoids all the 'potential violence,' and will win him some support among minorities and libs.

Easy decision for him to make, I think. I'll be very surprised if he denies clemency and orders the execution. Very surprised.

In Don King's America, there can be only one solution to this
"problem." We all know that Arnold will obey those pro-black pressure
groups and commute the sentence of this noted childrens' author. The
other solution-the rational one-is impossible and cannot be allowed to
happen. Until there is a revolution of some kind, this is what ALWAYS
happens in these situations. Even if one of these white politicians
were to sumon up the courage to do the right thing, he would be
vilified to such an extent that his life would be ruined. Also, the
riots would undoubtedly begin. As always, the rioters would not be
blamed for rioting, "racism" would. I know I keep saying it, but it
just gets harder to believe every day that we are living in such a
nightmarish world. An ignorant thug who founded one of the most
disastrous gangs of modern times, one that has the blood of who knows
how many on its hands, and who was convicted of killing four people, is
considered by a number of educated people to be not only suitable for
release into polite society, but worthy of a Nobel Prize nomination.
But then again, in a world that has made "stars" of imbeciles named
Snoop Dog, 50 Cent, Jay Z, Lil' Kim, Lil' Romeo,Ice Tea and Ice Cube,
maybe this isn't really all that ridiculous.

There is one interesting aspect of this story. The people that Tookie killed were Chinese who ran the business he robbed. Asians make up a very large portion of the population of California. They are very quiet but one has to imagine that they a) vote, and b) have money to donate. I think eventually they will break from the liberal democrats that they vote for now. Sooner or later they will realize as a group that their interests are not the same as that of other non-whites.

Arnold, if he is smart, will curry favor with that group instead and allow the execution to go forth. But i agree that it is highly unlikely.

At least one of the victims was white. I saw his mother interviewed on O' Reilly. But your right. If all of the victims were just white people Tookie would definitely get clemensy. Since the other victims were Asian, his chances aren't as good.

Here's a snip from Wikipedia on Tookie Williams:

After Williams murdered Owens, he, Darryl, Coward and Sims fled in the two cars and returned home to Los Angeles. The robbery netted Williams and his associates approximately $120.00. Once back in Los Angeles, Sims asked Williams why he shot Owens. Williams said that he "didn't want to leave any witnesses." Williams also said he killed Owens "because he was white and he was killing all white people." Coward claims that Williams bragged about killing Owens. Williams said, "You should have heard the way he sounded when I shot him." Williams then made gurgling or growling noises and laughed about Owens' death

Here's a not so suprising list of Hollywood dipsh*ts that support Williams. Also from Wikipedia:

Many citizens have gathered signatures to grant Williams clemency. To date, over 68,000 people have signed online petitions calling for Schwarzenegger to commute the death sentence. Others campaigning against the execution include celebrities Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg, Elliott Gould, Danny Glover, Laurence Fishburne, Ted Danson, William Baldwin, Bob Saget, Mike Farrell, Harry Belafonte, Jessica Simpson, Edward Asner, Jackson Browne, Russell Crowe, Richard Dreyfuss, Nick Carter, Gabriel Byrne, Bianca Jagger; politicians Tom Hayden, Mario Cuomo and Bill Rosendahl; Nobel laureates Desmond Tutu, Mairead Corrigan Maguire; and the Reverend Jesse Jackson. However, it is unclear which of them are specifically supporting Williams and which are simply opposed to the death penalty in all cases.

How deep are the depts of social depravity when a nation will house a
monster for decades after he has commited multiple murders rather than
put him down like that rabid dog that he is. We live in a country
that allows this vermin's tripe to be read by children. The U.S.
sits in front of televisions and watches a program (Redemption) that
immortalizes this freak. The screw turners have formed an
iconaclastic perception of this demonic sub-human. The
families of Dookie's victims should be allowed to stone the beast to
death but that won't happen in Super Bizzaro Brutha World.

Well, justice was finally served, albeit 20+ years late.

Wow- have to admit I'm stunned that Arnold didn't bow to the incredible
pressure he was under. This spells the end of his political career, of
course.

The politicians of his home town in Austria were quite upset with Arnold for not sparing Tookie and would like to remove his name form a stadium. Arnold tells them go ahead , if that's the way they feel about it.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Monday told officials in his hometown in Austria to remove his name from a sports stadium and stop using his identity to promote the city. The governor's request came after politicians in Graz began a petition drive to rename the stadium, reacting to Schwarzenegger's decision last week to deny clemency to condemned inmate Stanley Tookie Williams. Opposition to the death penalty is strong in Austria.

In a letter that began "Dear Mister Mayor," Schwarzenegger said he decided to spare the Graz city council "further concern" should he be forced to make other clemency decisions while he's governor. Another inmate is scheduled to be executed in California Jan. 17.

"In all likelihood, during my term as governor, I will have to make similar and equally difficult decisions," Schwarzenegger said in the letter. "To spare the responsible politicians of the city of Graz further concern, I withdraw from them as of this day the right to use my name in association with the Liebenauer Stadium."

You know, I know he has some liberal social tendencies, but you have to like Schwarzenneger, man. I love this!:

Most politicians seek to kowtow to everyone they offend, but Arnold basically tells these guys to stuff it!

I wonder if the good citizens of Austria are suddenly in shock and remiss now that Arnold has said they cannot use name with the stadium at all??

Wow- the madness is truly international. Why would anyone in Austria be
upset over the leader of a vicious gang like the Crips being executed?
It's one thing to oppose the death penalty (which I do very strongly),
but why pick this case? We all can understand why "Tookie" became such
a cause celebre in kooky Hollywood, or really anywhere in Don King's
America, but can any Austrian citizen relate to a mindless thug like
him? There are lots of unjustly imprisoned people in our
country, and some of them are undoubtedly on Death Row. Where is the
outrage in Austria over that?

Arnold is one of those rare people who is bigger than anyone who wants to take him on. Maybe his being such a well liked actor has made him invulnerable. It wouldn't surprise me if the locals in Austria take sides with Arnold and vote out their own politicians.

This post is by Il ragno on the Speakeasy forum. It's so funny I had to pass it on.

VIENNA, Austria -

California's execution of Stanley Tookie Williams on Tuesday outraged many in Europe who regard the practice as barbaric, and politicians in Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's native Austria called for his name to be removed from a sports stadium in his hometown.

At the Vatican, Pope Benedict XVI's top official for justice matters denounced the death penalty for going against redemption and human dignity.

"We know da dett-a penalty, she no resolva nutteeng," Cardinal Renato (Little Augie) Martino told AP Television News. "Even a criminal, she's-a worthy of-a da respect because we are all Godsa bambini, an' we need all da asses we can put inna da pews. The dett-a penalty, she's-a da blacktion - err, I mean she's a coontradiction - ma vafanculo, how you say... a denial of-a da human dignity. To kill is-a da sin. At least, widdout-a da ok from the Commission first."

Capital punishment is illegal throughout the European Union, where American Negroes are fetishized as noble savages and King Kong metaphors, thus many Europeans consider state-sponsored executions to be barbaric. Those feelings were amplified in the case of Williams, due to the apparent remorse they believe the Crips gang co-founder showed by writing children's books about the dangers of gangs and violence, such as "Snitches Get Stitches", "Curious George Turns Out A Punk" and "Where the Wild Things At".

Leaders of Austria's pacifist Green Party, who believe only men should marry, went as far as to call for Schwarzenegger to be publicly stripped of his Austrian citizenship - a demand that was quickly rejected by Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel despite his government's opposition to offending Jews by publicly sticking up for other Austrians.

"Whoever, out of political calculation, allows the death of a well-built black man with such exemplary abs and that whole delicious menace-to-society vibe he had about him has rejected the basic values of Austrian society, which are 1] gay rights, 2] January lederhosen sales, and 3] Adolf Who?" said gaunt, skeletal Peter Pilz, a Greens leader and AIDS activist, adding, "and anyone who does so should be herded up, tattooed with a number, shaved bald and then gassed."

In Schwarzenegger's hometown of Graz, local Greens said they would file a petition to remove his name from the southern city's sports stadium. A Christian political group went even further, suggesting it be renamed the "Reformed Negro Savage Stadium."

"Mr. Williams had converted, and unlike Mr. Schwarzenegger who never murdered anyone, opposed every form of violence," said Richard Schadauer, the chairman of the Association of Christian Twits and Teabaggers. Plans for a candlelight vigil were cancelled when recent waves of Arab violence made the area an unofficial no-glow zone for Austrian whites, and nobody but white people with too much free time would be foolish enough to protest a mass-murderer's execution anyway.

Williams was executed early Tuesday at California's San Quentin State Prison after Schwarzenegger denied Williams' request for clemency. Schwarzenegger suggested that Williams' supposed change of heart was not genuine because he had not shown any real remorse for the killings committed by the Crips. Holding up the spiral notebook that Williams, like all Negroes, keep on hand for jotting down dope-ass rhymes, Schwarzenegger told the California State Legislature "Zese are ze freestyles of a psychopath, not a playa. Zis sh*t is vack."

Criticism came quickly from many quarters, including the Socialist Party in France, where the death penalty was abolished in 1981. "I am proud to be a Frenchman," party spokesman Julien Dray, a Jewish émigré and treasurer-secretary of STOP LE PEN, a small grass-roots political club consisting of newspaper publishers, industrialists and ex-Prime Ministers, told RTL radio. "I am proud to live in France, in a country where we're too busy extinguishing burning automobiles every night to punish anyone for anything except their opinions about World War 2."

"Schwarzenegger has a lot of muscles, but apparently not much heart," Dray said.

In Italy, the country's chapter of Amnesty International called the execution "a cold-blooded murder."

"His execution is a slap in the face to the universally-shared principles of sex money and murda, an inhumane and inclement act toward a person who, with his exemplary marksmanship and his colorful "Trigga black 4 Life" tattoo and lifestyle, had become an important figure and a symbol of hope for many youths - not just the ones called P-Nutt and Short Dogg, but ones named Farouk and Ali who are currently terrorizing our citizens," the group said. "Wherever children don ski-masks to rob drunks at gunpoint and rape Special Ed females, Tookie's shining spirit will live on."

In Germany, Volker Beck, a leading member of the opposition Greens party, expressed disappointment. "Schwarzenegger's decision is a cowardly decision," Beck told the Netzeitung online newspaper. "Now you will please sign this petition, yes? It is to sponsor further immigration from Turkey."

From London, Clive Stafford-Smith, a human rights attorney specializing in death penalty cases, called the execution "very sad", about the sort of dead-fish animation and fiery passion you'd expect from a English ponce with two hyphenated last names.

Spokesmen for Angelina Jolie said California state officials purposely stalled her paperwork, preventing her from adopting the 230-pound murderer in time. Meanwhile, Bono will be issuing a statement through Michael Jackson.... who will be seated on his lap and speaking while Bono drinks a glass of water.

Bionca Jagger's calls were not returned by this reporter.

Rome's Colosseum, once the arena for deadly gladiator combat and executions, has become both a symbol of Italy's anti-death penalty stance and a free-range Arab petting zoo. Since 1999, the monument has been bathed in golden light every time a death sentence is commuted somewhere in the world or Cicciolina aces an AIDS test.

Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni said the city would keep Williams in its memory the next time it celebrates a victory against the death penalty somewhere in the world. "When she hoppen, we gonna turn on da bigga light for Tookie."
