This is their black superathlete? T.O. needs to get a grip on reality and realize that in a fair NFL, a more qualified white WR with more speed, hands, heart, and jumping ability would be playing in his "spot." Danny Farmer comes to mind...

Yes I would. I don't think I could ever feel any emotions over PROFESSIONAL sports.

I would for college or high school players, black or white or otherwise. College and high school guys are actually playing for FREE (other than their free college education). I acknoledge that he defended his friend and teammate, but my god, as much as idiots in this country love the NFL....there's no way to justify crying over it. Especially the almost 100% thug cowboys squad.

The NFL is supposed to pass for sports entertainment in today's world, however, it gets closer to "soap opera" every year. Sadly, it's rarely entertaining, and always more drama than substance.

A grown man (who's also a multi-millionare football player) crying over a game in which nothing remotely tragic occurred? This pushes the boundries of foolishness, even for this ultra-pussified culture. As far as me buying into this drama, no thanks.

As far as someone explaining this situation to me so that it would appear to be tragic enough that I would feel bad for him (or anyone else)...I don't think that's possible.Edited by: Thrashen

I would lose all respect if ateammate (who is supposedly an NFL superstar and league veteran) acted in the manner that Owens did. White Tornado, did you actually see that pitiful display? I was mortified.


Terrell Owens, you play on the Dallas Cowboys. America's Team. Your team has won five Super Bowls during its cherished history. You are following in the footsteps of great men such as Roger Staubach, Bob Lilly, and Charlie Waters.


You are representing perhaps (along with the NY Yankees) the most revered organization in professional sports.


I could go on and on about this. I believe the events of Sunday (which obviously were not all TO's fault) negatively impact this organization for years to come.

I am certainly no fan of TO but I am in agreement with White Tornado on this. I have no problem with a athlete crying over a difficult loss and I am giving TO the benefit of the doubt as to whether he was sincere or not. I remember Adam Morrison crying on the court after Gonzaga lost a game in the tournament a couple of years ago and the media hounded him about it and even a couple of posters here at Caste Football. It's a emotional and passionate game and sometimes it gets to you, what's the big deal? As long as it's a rare occurence, I don't think it's anything to be bothered by. To be honest, every single time I watch the movie "Field of Dreams", I lose it every time. I think it was actually TO's finest moment as a football player to stick up for Romo considering the way he treated McNabb and Garcia.

Wasn't Owens the one who poisoned the atmosphere to begin with by making comments about the appropriateness of Jessica Simpson attending a Cowboys game? That was none of his business, as any black player would have said if a white player publicly criticized his girlfriend. At best it's something to be said privately.


But that's just it, Owens is a pampered, infantile personality who thrives on attention. He's also emotionally unstable, as shown by his "suicide" attempt and other behaviors he's engaged in. It doesn't bother me to see players, black or white, crying after a tough loss (though I agree with Thrashen about the "pussification" of society), but to see that over the top reaction from the epitome of selfishness just makes me wonder more about Owens' mental stability.

I agree with you about TO's unwise public statement about the Romo-Simpson relationship a few weeks ago. His statements certainly added to the fire he tried to put out in the news conference last Sunday. I am no fan of his and likely never will be and didn't want him signed to the Cowboys in the first place and still feel that way. That being said, I have no problem with anything he did during last Sunday's news conference. I hope it's a genuine sign of TO growing up and not of his likely mental instability as you put it.

Sure, people could call T.O. any horrible name that comes to mind, and he might deserve that. But the bottom line is, when was the last time you heard of T.O. commiting a crime? Beating his wife/girlfriend? Going to strip clubs? Taking steriods? To my recollection, never. All he ever did was cause massive problems for an entire franchise

through his words, which are sometimes actually funny to hear. He seems to love white QBs, publicly stating that he'd much rather have Favre than McNabb.

That's probably so Shogun, but still it's unusual for TO to stick up for any QB he's ever had. So I still give him some kudos for trying to take some of the heat off Romo which ironically he helped to create by talking about the Jessica Simpson situation a few weeks ago.

Go to even a site like Roto World, and every fourth football player update is not that Owens signed with a team, but that he is not signing with agiven team. About half the teams have shown no interest in Owens so far, only 16 more to go. . .

That was fast. While the move is completely against Buffalo's character, it makes sense for them. They are desperate for receiver firepower across from Lee Evans to help Trent Edwards out. The rest of the AFC East isn't getting easier and Dick Jauron is in a playoff-or-bust year. The move may blow up in their face, but we love that it's a one-year deal. Owens will have to perform and behave to keep his career going. While this helps Evans and Edwards, Owens is joining the least explosive offense of his career. Expect his numbers to suffer accordingly.

Well it looks like Miles Austin has a chance to start this season alongside Williams. I know Austin from playing pick up basketball games in Garfield a few years back. He is a good kid and I wish him the best but why can't Matt Jones find a job? He is way more athletic than Austin and should be starting somewhere.

Very true, they are both cretins. I do think however that T.O. might even be a bigger headcase than El Manyaco

T.O. is one of those players who I would be willing to bet has a very bad end in life once his football days are over. Even though the Cowboys tried to hush up and deny that T.O. was suicidal, I believe there was probably more than a grain of truth to that original story. Owens is mentally unstable.
