I heard Tony Kornheiser say he thought Tebow could play in the NFL as a White Slash. He said he could be an option fullback or play QB/Fullback. I have never seen anything like this in the modern NFL. Does anybody think he could be such a thing? He basically stated that Tebow has unique talents that the NFL has to use.

Actually, Kornheiser's comment pisses me off.
smiley7.gif

Why does he have to play 'option fullback.' WTF?? WTF is an 'option fullback?? Who plays 'option fullback?' Who would take a guy like this and make him a FULLBACK?? Who would even suggest such bullsh*t? Do they want Tebow to block for some body like LenDale White or what??

When would ANY black quarterback who EVER had this kind of college record be suggested for any position other than QUARTERBACK. They would be raving about how he would TRULY - FOR REAL THIS TIME, AND WE MEAN IT - change the way the position is played for all time. He would be the 'new prototype' they have all been waiting for - if only he had black skin!

I'm listening to these sportsidiots suggest that Tebow doesn't deserve the Heisman because he is surrounded by a good team. If he played for anyone other than Florida he wouldn't be that great. He doesn't have that 'something' that makes everyone around him a better player. I'm not kidding! Cowturd is the worst of them all.

I tell you, I would not be surprised to see them convert Tebow to a tight end or some sh*t. It wouldn't surprise me at all. "What do you mean there is a white guy out there who can run??! Get some weight on that f***er ASAP and put him on the line!! We can't actually let him RUN with the BALL!"

Righteous rant man!

Will Tebow win the Heisman? I'd vote for him if I could.

What's the deal with the draft? Can he come out yet? Should he? What was the fallout over the deal with the fat black guy that Denver drafted and couldn't play, what's his name?

What's next for Tebow?

Only RS Sophomores (a la Sidney Rice last year) and Juniors are eligible for the draft as far as I understand it. USC WR Mike Williams and OSU RB Maurice Clarett both tried to challenge the NCAA and enter the NFL after their sophomore years. As we can see, that probably was a bad decision.
Tebow needs more than one year as a full time passer to answer the questions about him. He's always going to have that "system QB" label attached to him. He'll probably just go ahead and win the Heisman next year and come out as a 1st round draft pick. Can't really think of any JR QB who would challenge him right now.

Kornheiser and his comments are predictably funny and infuriating at the same time. Like that wimp would be an expert to evaluate talent anyway. He looks like he never even stepped foot on any athletic field in his life, even for his local Hebrew school league or whatever. Kornheiser looks like he should be an option accountant.

Congrats to Tim for winning the Heisman! Even though I don't think the award is "all that" I do hope he wins it again next year so it will knock Archie Griffin down a few notches.

Tebow is back in the Heisman race!

Florida will likely win the rest of their regular season.

If Oklahoma wins the rest of their season games, I do get the impression that Sam Bradford will get the Heisman. I'm not saying it would be a bad choice.

Zac Robinson has to also be a candidate.

Does anyone else think that Tebow makes use of his being southpawed? He seems to confuse defenses with it.

Tebow is a tremendous athelete & young man. No doubt he will be an outstanding NFL player...despite how the Caste talking heads try to say he needs to play RB or even FB in the NFL.

check out this ridiculous convo between tebow and "draft guru" mel kiper

http://insider.espn.go.com/proxy/proxy.dll/insider/espnradio /player?id=3770479&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2fins ider.espn.go.com%2fproxy%2fproxy.dll%2finsider%2fespnradio%2 fplayer%3fid%3d3770479

Tebow: "My goal ever since I was young is to be an NFL quarterback, and that is my goal and that is something I want to accomplish,"

A few minutes later, Kiper asked a follow-up question.

"Tim, I heard that inflection in your voice before ... Don't kill me when I say this, can you catch the football?" he asked.

"Hahahaha," Tebow said. "Does that matter?"

"Do you have good hands, Tim?" Kiper asked again.

Tebow: "Well, I have to catch the snap every play, so my hands are OK."

thinks tebow should be an h-back or tight end

"just too good with the ball in his hands to be a quarterback" sees him as a chris cooley type

tebow:"Well thank you, I think that's a great compliment, But the quarterback does have the ball in his hands every play, so I think that will help as well."

Kiper is an idiot. The only way I would want Tim Tebow to switch positions would be if he was a starting running back for an nfl team. The number one back who would get 20-25 touches a game. That is the only other position he should even consider but in my opinion he should stay at qb first and only switch after given a fair chance. He would be a Hester/HIllis Type Running Back. The kid will be a star on Sundays despite what the media, coaches and teams might try to do to stop him from being a household name.

From Draftdaddy.com

ESPN draft analyst talks about the draft potential of three talented juniors that play for the Florida Gators.

DD.comment: We don't think anyone would dispute the fact that Tebow has been one of the most feared running quarterbacks in college football over the last 15 years. He makes defensive backs shake in their cleats when he's running downhill, right at them. Be that as it may, if Tebow was forced to move away from quarterback in the N.F.L., what is the logic behind bulking him up and moving him to tight end to catch passes, instead of using him as a tall, bruising tailback, ala Stephen Jackson, Brandon Jacobs or Peyton Hillis? We guess, maybe, that's just the way it is, as most running quarterbacks that shift positions in the N.F.L. go directly to wide receiver -- Brad Smith, Antwaan Randle El, Hines Ward, Matt Jones, Isaiah Stanback, Eric Crouch, Joshua Cribbs, ect. But we think Tebow is different. Those guys mostly scrambled through wide seems to make big play after big play as runners in college. Tim has no problem being a battering ram and running the ball directly at defensive ends, linebackers and safeties for the tough yards, so we think he could project better as a running back, if he fails to make it as a pro quarterback.

Edited to add: My take: Who would Tebow be like as a RB in the Pros? I'd say maybe a Michael Bush or faster Tony Hunt type. I'm not sure if Tebow has quite as much agility as Peyton Hillis or Brandon Jacobs.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

"Tim Tebow has been become the subject of much debate among NFL scouts and general managers. Some think he has the durability and accuracy to make the transition if he is put in the right system. Others project him as a future fullback or linebacker at the next level, questioning whether his bruising style will play in a league where defenses are bigger, quicker and stronger and safeties see quarterbacks coming in their direction as fresh meat. Tebow has spent his entire college career in a spread option offense and has taken nearly every snap from a shotgun formation."

To me he runs like a running fullback. He looks like a more athletic version of Bobby Douglas (the old Bears qb). The problem for hims is that very few teams have that style of running calls anymore. The last team that regulary used that style in my mind was the Browns under Schottenheimer when Kevin Mack shared the workload with Ernest Byner.

Onward Christian Soldiers! Way to go Tebow! He won his 2nd national championship in 3 years of college football. The announcers said he should be considered one of the top 5 football players of all time! They also said he will probably return for his senior year. Maybe he can win a 3rd nat'l. championship and a 2nd heisman. That would be awesome.

In the game tonight he had over 100 yards rushing and he also threw for 2 touchdowns. What a perfomance in the national championship/Orange Bowl.

This is actually a very accurate and fair description. I think Tebow can definitely become a solid pocket passer with the right amount of coaching in the NFL, and retain his running ability at the same time, which would be a very lethal combo. The guy is simply too talented to not be a solid pro and I hope his talents are utilized accordingly.

He's a Daunte Culpepper clone. Big strong and a fairly good throwing QB. No one ever talked about Culpepper moving to another position. Culpepper ran the same way, tough, that's why he ended up injured. Donovan McNabb is(was) fairly similar too, big guy, good runner. And Vince Young had the same kind of game to win his team a national championship. Tebow will be a QB in the pros and a highly drafted one. The talk of moving him to another position is caste-BS.

I agree that it's going to be tough to "Caste" Tebow into a fullback or some other racially slotted position in the NFL. Eric Crouch was effortlessly screwed over by the NFL because he came from an offense that rarely threw, was on the smallish side (though that is never an issue when it comes to blacks), and supposedly had a weak arm. Also, Crouch was in the same draft as Michael Vick, back when Caste System confidence was at its highest that the quarterback position was well on the way to being taken over by blacks.

There is nothing weak about Tebow. He's extremely confident to go along with all his physical talent. The key will be which team drafts him. We've seen what's happened with Matt Jones, Brian Leonard, Jacob Hester, etc. He needs to go to a team that isn't totally beholden to Caste principles. Also one that needs a quarterback, or at least will within two or three seasons. Being drafted by a team with an entrenched white star at QBwill not help Tebow's cause.

I've watched as many Florida games as possible the last two years.

The one thing I have seen from Tebow is that he is an excellent passer. I have seen him thread the needle late in games on third down too many times to count. He has been terrific and it is all being buried in the ESPN onslaught to bury Tebow's chances at being an NFL QB.

ESPN is being as two-faced as they can be today. On the one hand they are praising Tebow to death, calling him superman and posting Tebowism's on the bottom of the screen. Then they bring on their analysts who say he can't cut it in the NFL as a QB.

It's like they are giving the fans who love Tebow some crumbs but sabatoging Tebow's future at the same time.

It really does tick me off!

Jason Whitlock tries too hard to be contrary to the rest of the media herd and as a result hasmore thana fewdubious opinions. Buttoward theend of his otherwise forgettable piece onlast night'stitle game he does have some interesting observations about Tebow. (Just once I'd like to see someone describe Tebow as having a power runner's body rather than a fullback's (or even a linebacker's)):

Tebow is a magnificent college-football weapon. What he lacks in precise passing, he makes up for with a fullback's body and Walter Payton's heart. Tebow rushed for more than 100 yards and threw for 231 and two TDs.

Is he potentially the greatest player in college history? Not in my opinion. But I won't blast the people who make the argument. His resume is pretty spotless. With a year of eligibility remaining, he has two national titles and a Heisman Trophy. The Gators will be favorites to win it all again next season. And Heisman voters might be primed to give Tebow a lifetime achievement award.

You can label a kid with three titles and two Heismans "The Muhammad Ali of College Football" without an argument from me.

Tebow fits the college game perfectly. The college system is unique, unconventional and successful, and so is Tebow.

Like the national-title winner, we'll probably be debating Tebow's legacy for years to come. His passionate detractors will claim that he's overrated, a product of Urban Meyer's spread. Tebow's critics can't stand his throwing motion.

He's a victim of stereotyping. He's the wrong color (white) to be accepted as a great athlete playing quarterback. Some of the same people trashing Tebow are the same people who would have little problem anointing Vince Young as an all-time great college QB.

Tebow is better than Young. Tebow isn't as explosive a runner as Young was, but Tebow is light years superior as a passer.
