If God is a flawlessly pure being of absolute goodness that is entirely absent of sin and entirely incapable of doing evil…then how did he create sin? How did he create sinners? How did he create the wickedness lingering inside the former archangel, Lucifer? How did he create evil itself if there was no evil within his being? Does evil’s existence suggest that certain elements of God himself are inherently evil?

I am certainly no theologian, but the origin of sin, both of Lucifer and in the Garden of Eden, did not come from an act that was merely immoral; rather, it came from the attempt to elevate oneself into the position of God. Sin comes from God cursing this usurpation; thus sin is the punishment of God's judgement. While viewing sin as a curse of God's judgement may explain how evil things come from God, but that doesn't really explain why God permitted the initial attempts at usurpation. It seems the origin would be in the desire of the created to be like the Creator, but how this became corrupted is still unexplained other than to say God willed it.

It also seems some of you have to have all the answers, before you can believe in God. If we as humans had all the answers, then we would be setting ourselves up as a God, which is hardly possible, because we are all failed humans. None of us will escape death. Then what?

In my opinion something else has happened. In the medieval period Christian kings often expelled the Jews from their nations. Admittedly this was often a thinly veiled attempt to seize their wealth, but superficially was done for pious reasons. Neither did medieval Christians have qualms about slaughtering the Mohammedans* (Deus Vult!). It seems that Christianity did not "infect" Europe, but rather something infected Christianity. My theory is that at some point, possibly the Enlightenment, Western culture began to become divorced from Christianity. From that period on Christianity has been chasing the culture instead of shaping it; and in the process has become more secular and shallow. Once separated from Christianity the West chased after one ideology after another to catastrophic effect.


*The Evangelicals of today are also enthusiastic about slaughtering Muslims, but they do so in the name of Democratic Capitalism. I think that illustrates my point about what happened to Christianity.
