I didn't comment very much during the PGA so I thought update everyone on The Memorial/Jack Nicklaus'
Tournament. There's some very important things going on. First, after the second round there's a 3 way lead for first:
T1 Merritt, -9
T1 Lee, -9
T1 Kaymer. -9
In fourth all by himself is Jordan Spieth,
4. Spieth -8
Spieth continuing to show his grit and toughness in what the media keeps calling a slump. I believe a weaker player would have succombed! Although Spieth hasn't won since the 2017 British Open it's not like he just fell the end of the earth. Plenty of distractions during the last year to year and a half such as, his bout with mononucleosis and his recent marraige. Not to mention a swing change. I guess I like to make excuses for Spieth, however to his credit, he's never made any excuses except to trust in what he's doing.
Spieth is not all the way back to his 2015 form as the media keeps beating in the ground, but who in golf history has ever had a year like he did. Two Major wins and two top 3's in the other two at the age of 21!
I'm really hoping for a Spieth win this week, BTW, this is by no means a weak field either. Rose, Fowler, and Scott are in the field with the likes of Day, McIlroy, Mickelson, Thomas, and Kuchar all missing the cut.
On another note. It will be a long time before we stop hearing about Woods as if I had to tell anyone. Now Woods will be covered first in every tournament until he ties and or breaks Sam Snead's 82 wins. Woods sits at 81 and after each round no matter whose winning which he hasn't, the coverage will start with Woods trying to tie Snead. Even if he breaks Snead's record, there will be non-stop coverage of him and his pursuit of Nicklaus' 18 Majors.
T33. Woods -2.
